Lakewood Residents "Loving the L" Lakewood Township residents are getting some relief from the terrible traffic congestion; they now have a brand new shuttle, the “L”, that will help Lakewood commuters get to where they need to go. The shuttle is especially great news for residents that do not drive, but the cost and convenience makes it attractive for everyone in the community. Currently there are two “L” routes. The first is #1 Westgate which serves housing on the West side of town to the downtown area along Forest Avenue. The second “L” Job Link bus route provides service via the Route 9 corridor to the Lakewood bus terminal and to employment facilities located in the Lakewood Industrial park. GMTMA worked closely with the Lakewood Township and was responsible for the Lakewood Community Bus marketing efforts and gave it its name, the “L”, a play on the elevated rail (el) stops found in many cities. GMTMA also worked with NJ Transit to meet all the federal grant requirements. For more information check the press coverage of the event. ZLine Connecting People to Jobs A great privatepublic partnership, the Zline, makes it possible for people to access jobs that would otherwise be out of reach. Cheryl Kastrenakes, GMTMA Executive Director, explains why accessibility is so important in this documentary directed by Elisa Steele, a Princeton University student.
