The Inter School Quiz is an annual competition organised for
all Corona Schools in line with the Corona culture of building
confidence and motivating its pupils to work hard as well as
encouraging healthy intellectual development. The 2013
edition marked yet another keen challenge amongst the
schools.
Representatives of the different schools competed for
different prizes with Lekki School, Apapa School, Victoria
Island School and Ikoyi School taking the 5th, 4th, 3rd and
2nd positions respectively. Gbagada School emerged champion of the day.
This year, a new innovation tagged ‘ word game’ was added
and Students from the Corona Secondary School, Agbara
spoke to parents on how the Corona education has since
primary school, prepared them for leadership roles.
Mr Adedotun Sulaiman, Chairman, Corona Schools’ Trust
Council at the event, remarked that life is about competition
and winning and to win you have to work as a team. “We
teach them team work very early and also teach how to be
gracious in victory and how to handle defeat.
On the part of Mrs Olufunto Igun, the Executive Director,
the fact that the scores are always close shows that the
schools are doing very well. She reiterated the fact that, it is
the same curriculum; same quality of teaching and the same
training that the teachers get. This, she said shows that the
Corona Curriculum is definitely working and it is working
well.
“The standard of the short-listed entries was extremely high
and it has been a difficult task for the global selection panel to
finalise their choice for the School of the Year 2013 award. You
are highly commended for the great work you and your school
are doing to support students and teachers in using learning
technologies.
On behalf of 21st Century Learning, and Pearson the global
sponsors for the awards, I would like to thank you once again
for submitting your entry for the award. I know you will be
disappointed by this but sincerely hope that you will consider
submitting an entry for the 2014 award.
Please keep in using your badge as Finalist with pride on all of
your communications!
Best wishes
Graeme “
