The Winter Boulevard
The Winter Boulevard
Baku (Azerbaijan)
The Winter Boulevard is the biggest public park in Baku. Ordered by
Azerbaijan’s president, Baku’s mayor had the park built. Construction
took more than a year and today, the Winter Boulevard extends
from the Heydar Aliyev Palast all the way to the Fizuli Plaza.
There are 2,000 trees, more than 10,000 ornamental shrubs and 5 fountains
spread across 7 hectare. As a result of the park construction, the Shamsi
Badalbayli Street had to be lengthened by 770 meters and now reaches
to Fizuli Plaza. Furthermore, an area of 212 meters from Samad Vurgun
Street to Dilara Aliyeva Street was reconstructed. In addition, a historical
building had to be relocated by 10 meters during construction works.
