inspiring figures for youth for generations. The very first session was devoted to
the ideas and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.
Sushri Nivedita Bhide started with a shlok

Ten tyakten bhunjeetha ma gratha‟
Human is not an individual complete in himself or herself but human are the integral part

the teachings of our ancestors simple form for better understanding. This is the biggest
contribution of Swami Vivekananda to the humanity.
Mr. Gajendra Singh said about Vivekananda that Youth could not be changed by changing the system but the system
could be changed by changing the youth. Swami Vivekananda always talked about personality development and the all
change starts with ‗I‘.
Major Recommendations of the Session
The session was open to the participants to put their opinion, views and suggestions.
Education methodology and objectives were one of major points of discussion.
Participants emphasized that role of education has to be transformed and defined
so that it generates integrated human beings and not only economic beings. It was
also emphasized that education should actively generate social awareness and
actively participate in direct social transformation via service oriented education.
The major recommendations that came out from the speeches of guests, papers of the
participants and session discussion are as below: 1. The education system lacks formal education of religion which creates more
discordant society. The way, beauty of India lies in its diversity, similarly the
religious harmony in India can be attained via dissemination of ―core values‖ of
every religion in current education system. Teachings of all the religions should
be included in the educational system and since all religions point to the same
principle; these teachings should be converged to universal religion.
2. To spread the awareness about goals of religion and harmony amongst different
religions, it was recommended to include Chicago address of Swami Vivekanand
in curriculum. It was also recommended to celebrate Universal harmony day on
11th September, the day when Swami Vivekanand delivered his Chicago address.
3. The current education system lacks emphasis on service aspect of education.
To promote this aspect, it was recommended to celebrate 12th January, birthday of
Swami Vivekananda , as International Service Day.This day should be observed by everyone by providing self-less
service to person/institution/society or any entity in need of a particular service.
4. In order to inculcate service as a habit in the life of coming generation, it was recommended to include service as a
part of curriculum like any other subject. It was also suggested to organize service outings in schools, colleges,
universities and educational institutes. It was also recommended that corporates, government offices and other
organisation should devote a regular time to social service.
5. Establishing Vivekananda Chair in educational institutes and universities to promote thoughts and teachings of
Swami Vivekanand.
6. The education must be character building, man making education, value based education.

Session 2
Integrated Development for Happiness and Satisfaction
Keynote Speaker : Dr. Ashok N. Bhaskarwar
Coordinator : Dr. Brijesh Singh
Session Chair : Dr. Shashi Dhiman
Session Co-Chair : Dr. R.C.S. Mehta
Panellist 1: Dr. Nandita Pathak
Panellist 2 : Dr. Ashok N. Bhaskarwar
Dr. Ashok N. Bhaskarwar started this session by sharing his experiences. He
emphasized that every individual is a unique biological identity and one must never
compare oneself with another and that we need to do beyond what is already done in any
and every sphere. He stressed on the need to invest more in education in order to sharpen
the focus of teaching faculties and students towards desired educational goals. For
quality teaching faculty selection, he said that the selection of teachers should be based
on merit and commitment rather than qualification. He emphasized that youth
should equally concentrate on regular manual work and sports. In his own words
―education‘s true goal is to achieve dignity and serenity and for this, role models
have to be identified in 21st century.‖
Dr. Nandita Pathak put up her feeling about this conference on Integral
Humanism organised at GBPUAT. She said that she felt similar aura and
inner vibrations in Pantnagar that she felt when she went to Chicago and
stood in the hall where Swami Vivekanand delivered his speech. She
presented initiative taken by Deendayal Research Institute to develop the
people at grass root level.
„Yuganukul Samajik Punar rachna‟
She said that DRI is working on the projects related to empowerment of villages of
India which is the need of century. Nandita ji said that one cannot buy happiness;
social consciousness is the key to happiness. She added further that money cannot do
rural development on its own; rather youth should be made self-reliant by
encouraging and providing them with the atmosphere to take initiative. She stressed
on the need of collective effort for integrated development by saying that we should
sit together, think together, plan together, work together, progress together and credit
together. Mr. R.C.S. Mehta said that, All power is within you and you can do
anything.
The session was open for discussion and experience sharing. Once again, education
and its objective were discussed in different light and it was emphasized that education
should be an enabler rather than creating job seekers. Lack of values or rather no clarity
about values in education system makes people money centric resulting in different
economic strata in same society. This discrepancy can be reduced by providing human value
centric education. Extended social responsibility was given a due thought to eradicate issues at local
level.
The major recommendations that came out from the speeches of guests, papers of the participants
and session discussion are as below:
1. The tendency to donate or to philanthropic acts in not prominent and this should be
encouraged at all levels. There is need of a system to recognise and honour the philanthropic
deeds in order to encourage it. The recognition for action on social causes should be more as these are life
changing and societal enhancing deeds.
2. . Practical aspect of philanthropy and social action should be added in formal education system. These two aspects
should be inculcated from childhood so that these form the basic trait of one's personality.
3. Basic vocational training should be available to all at early stages of formal education, specifically in the
economically weak areas.
4. Employment should be generated in rural areas locally and the local talent should be utilized to run the employment
generating local organisation to stop migration to cities.
5. Implementation of Time banking for services. Time banking would move us away from money centric business to
service centric model and create stronger bonds within society and greater understating of human values.
6. Vivekanand Gram concept for rural areas and Vivekanand societies for urban area should be introduced to create
holistic and integrated society.
7. Need of physical fitness and mental well-being should be emphasized in formal education system by including Yoga
and meditation as a part of physical fitness training.
8. There is need of an organisation that can procure the money needed for social causes and monitor the flow and proper
utilization of money. This organisation should coordinated with capitalist and NGOs to fulfil each other‘s need.
9. Children should be taught the importance of values like sharing and mutual cooperation.
Session 3
Universal Harmony and Broader Tolerance
Keynote Speaker : Ach. Agyaatdarshan
Coordinator : Dr. Ranjan Srivastava
Session Chair : Dr. M. M. Verma
Session Co-Chair : Dr. A. K. Karnatak
Panellist 1: Shri Ravi Iyer
Panelist 2: Shri Rajendra Chaddha
Swami Vivekanand was the greatest apostle of universal love and
brotherhood whose eternal message of divinity of soul provides the fundamental
basis of universal tolerance. In this session we attempted to spread the same
message by inviting views of academia and global fraternity to discuss and
enlighten the congregation.
The session was started by the insight of Acharya Agyatdarshan (Sacred
Association of Rejoice and Laugh). He told that religion has to transform itself to
become propagator of energy of youth and enthusiasts otherwise it would be as
good as dead. He emphasized on the need of a guiding force to everyone that can
lead everyone to better path.
The way to success is the positive attitude said by Ravi Iyer Ji. Academic Institutions are teaching courses on
Bhagvad Geeta to MBA students. Democracy is failing in countries due to unemployment which is the result of greed. If
Geeta is taught to the Indians we will not have so much of corruption in India, said Ravi Iyer Ji.
„Ali kehta hai ki farishte se achha hai insaan banana
Par isme padti hai mehnat Jyada‟
Shri Rajendra Chaddha Ji started with this beautiful quote & said that as the rivers from many
paths meet with the sea your life, all men move towards the GOD from different paths and end his
speech with the quote.
„Jo sota hai vah kalyug hai, Jo angrai leta hai vah duapar hai
Jo uth khada hota hai vah treat, Aur jo chal padta hai vah satyug hai‟
Dr. M. M. Verma emphasized on the need of guiding philosophy in life. He said that
it is a misconception that Bhagvad Gita is only meant for a specific religion or sect
rather it‘s a guiding path for whole humanity. All religions are in synchrony with each
other and ultimately lead to one Almighty. Religion is purely a matter of one‘s
individual inclination and faith and hence, none can be dictated which religion to
follow. Swami Vivekanand himself pitied those who, out of ignorance, strived to
propagate the supremacy of their religion.
Few major points of discussion in this session were:
If we talk of the concept of a Universal Religion, then we must realize that such a religion must cater to the different
psychological needs of people and hence, must provide the freedom to practice one‘s own set of beliefs, customs and
practices while integrating the common teachings and goals of all religions based on the spirit of harmony, love and
tolerance.
Religion is misinterpreted by most of us as a set of some traditional customs and practices, mostly reserved for
observation by the elderly people but the truth is that religion is in fact the struggle to manifest divinity, it is an attempt to
realize our true nature with the knowledge of unity of soul with God as its end and hence, it is the most daring adventure
that humans can witness.
Major Recommendations of the Session
After having a good discussion under the guidance of our learned panellists and speakers the discussion came up to
conclusion that communal harmony comes after a better understanding of religions. Escaping from true essence of different
religions can merely lead to communal tensions. The major recommendations that came out from the speeches of guests,
papers of the participants and session discussion are as below:
1. An Interfaith Foundation should be established to promote the understating of different religions. Interfaith dialogue
should be initiated by educational institutes under the aegis of Interfaith foundation to spread the awareness of every
religion and their common and universal goals.
2. Cultural diversity and diversity in thoughts and opinions should be encouraged at all level. Schools should facilitate
interaction between varied cultures via student exchange or temporary migration.
3. Society should integrate well with the schools and colleges at local level. Students should be given first hand
exposure and experience of existing social issues and resolution. This initiative should be taken at local panchayat
level in coordination with schools /colleges.
4. Electronic and print media should be used actively to disseminate the message of religious and harmony. Instances of
unifying acts should be given due coverage. There is need to frame a policy where news channels and news house.
Session - 4
Saving the Earth - An Activist Approach
Keynote Speaker : Dr. Ajit Rastogi
Coordinator: Dr. S. K. Guru
Session Chair : Shri Jagdish Upasane
Co-Chair : Dr. Vir Singh
Panellist 1: Shri Sudhir Chaddha Ji
Panellist 2: Mr. Raghav Garg
Mr. Jagdish Upasane said that We are organising conference on the theme Saving
the Earth, it is not good to memorise them instead it must be in the general nature of the
humans. We are living with two dual approaches but it must we one. If we decide
something we have to follow it in every situation of life. He said that ‗think less act
more‘. Our festival and rituals are connected with nature so we have to save public
resource.
The Young Speaker Raghav Garg started with brief introduction of economy &
philosophy. The major problems of present day is due to the capitalism which is
driving our economy. He said that humans are not one dimensional but they are
multidimensional. He also gave an overview of their project of low budget flats to the
audience.
Mr. Ajay Rastogi opened the session with ideas on the issue by stating that
being an integral part of nature, humans have natural affinity with nature due to which
any action which harms nature is bound to make humans uncomfortable too. Utilizing this fact, he told that if we perform
actions which add to our state of tranquillity we would automatically be in harmony with nature and would be moving away
from consumerism.
Dr. Vir singh started with congratulating the delegates and said that you all
have spark in your heart which is enough to save the earth. The biggest diseases in
the world customs & traditions. We are not growing due to our God Centric
minds. Education is the transformation of our potential energy into the creative
energy said Dr. Vir singh. The valuable energy on the earth is the energy of the
youth. We have to understand our responsibility. Happiness must be the flow of
every process and development it is not we have to review it. Education must lead
to youth empowerment.
We have to love our society, our nation and not only to work for money but
also for a social cause, said Mr. Sudhir Chaddha. We can proud on our work if we are
serving to the society. We have to responsible for the good change in the society.
Major Recommendations of the Session With the above enlightening thoughts by
learned panellists, the session was opened to the participants. Each one of the participant
was teeming with ideas, passion and grit to conserve nature and help fellow beings by
dedicating some of his time and energy. It was a session where personal commitments were
taken to save the earth. This session pointed out that the consumerism attitude of human being, attitude that considers
human as an exclusive species over other species and ever growing greed has done most damage to the mother earth. It was
also pointed out that for co-existence the essential and basic needs of other species should be given priority over nonessential needs of human beings. Environmental ethic, which identifies that human are part of the same ecology and
environment and are not exclusive, was discussed. The major recommendations that came out from the speeches of guests,
papers of the participants and session discussion are as below:
1. In order to inculcate the habit of performing actions which are in harmony with environment, effective awareness
needs to be generated among students right in their formative years at school level. Education about environment
coupled with environment sustaining activities like growing plants, cleaning surroundings should be mandatory part
of practical education in schools.
2. Practical implementation of theories and concepts has more impact on human minds. Hence, visits and display of
environment conservation projects and initiatives by different institutes and bodies and their impact should be
undertaken for the students at school and college level to emphasize the need of such initiatives.
3. Personal commitments are needed by each one of us in order to save environment like eliminating use of poly bags,
optimum use of resources like water, electricity and fuel by practices like carpooling or using public transport, use of
solar cookers, solar heaters etc.
4. Popularizing usage of renewable sources of energy and environment friendly substances like biogas, biodiesels.
