The goal is to climb up the central pole and onto the jump platform from where the participant leaps out to catch hold of the trapeze. Participants try at the lower level before moving up to the higher one to gain the admiration of spectators and a huge sense of achievement. The position of the Trapeze can quickly and easily altered to suit the physicality and confidence of each participant. The large three dimensional holds invite climbers to grip them in many different ways. There is no right or wrong way to climb Triffid, it all depends on the size of the climber. Each participant is kitted out in a skydive suit ( to control the amount of friction ) and a helmet. Then they hold on to a handlebar and are pulled up the face of the slide using a winch controlled by a Clip ‘N Climb supervisor. This is a ‘challenge of choice’ and participants can let go at any time they choose. Participants going to the top of a 27 ft slide will have 9 feet of freefall before engaging seamlessly with the slide and through the radius and up to the end of the slide. Traversing from left to right and vice versa with vertical sections in between, the climber weaves their way to the top.
