Success to The Downstream Industry
• To create a successful and sustainable downstream the culture of
engineering, value addition and niche market could be among the
key components
• Culture of engineering – is to take a set of basic raw materials
and combine them into product in demand and use for the
current industrial world leves
• To create and complete downstream industry chain we need to
create a clear & fair transfer price
• Without a fair formula of Transfer price of one chain to other,
there would be no success to downstream as the next link in the
downstream chain is reliant on the price of its raw material
36
36

Success to The Downstream Industry
• For a successful downstream the availability of support of
stimulus funds could come as a great advantage. Like a
very supportive scheme we have as TAMKEEN here in
Bahrain
• Each downstream could be at the ransom of its upstream.
If the transfer price is not on a clear & fair basis at market
rate on a long term sustainable base then it will not create
the confidence of downstream companies
• In Midal we have almost completed our downstream
chain

Bahrain Aluminium Downstream Industry
• Bahrain has created an excellent example in developing the
aluminium downstream industry to ALBA and consume around 50%
of Alba’s capacity within the island.
• There is still scope on further developing the aluminium
downstream manufacturing industry in Bahrain with products like
Aircraft Components, Machine Parts, Powder Products, etc..
(downstream of downstream)
• But Bahrain has still has not been able to achieve any noticeable
downstream in the Steel Sector which produces 12 Million Tons
each year but has very insignificant downstream developed.
• Similar to Steel, Polymers and other similar chemicals also has not
been able to develop its downstream industry
