Moon: Tales of Love, Despair, Faith and Forgiveness”
Her one-woman show is an evocative memoir of her life’s
journey as she skillfully guides audiences into an evocative world
of Indian arranged marriages, British boarding schools, tyrannical
African dictators, Indian holy men, Rwandan genocide survivors
and the rise and fall of her multi-million dollar company.
This event is sponsored by NCCC’s Cultural Planning Committee and funded by
the Northwestern Community College Foundation and the Peggy Andl Fund.

College Tours to University of Connecticut—Storrs and
Eastern Connecticut State University
The Team Success Scholars and Foundations programs,
both funded through the NRWIB (Northwest Regional
Workforce Investment Board), will be sponsoring a bus
tour to UCONN and ECSU on Friday, October 30th,
2015. This is an all-day tour, including an Info Session
and a Walking Tour at each campus. The bus will
depart/return from the gazebo by Founders Hall.

Ballroom Dance Classes
This popular dance series returns!! If you

Free Career Workshops are being offered by the Center for
Workforce Development and will held on Tuesday and Thursday
afternoons in September. Workshops will be held in Founder’s Hall

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
Emergency Medical Technicians respond to health care emergencies
such as heart attacks, car accidents and fires. They provide life support
to seriously ill or injured patients before they reach the hospital.

Successful completion of this course enables the EMT Student to take
the National written and Practical exams for Certification. Successful
completion of the national exam allows the student to get their CT
Certification.
CRN: 3191, Tuesday and Thursday, September 29, 2015 – March 17,

2016, 6:00pm-10:00pm plus 3 Saturdays, 8:00am-2:00pm. Cost: $850
plus textbook.
Course fee does not include:
*Text Book: Brady’s Emergency Care, 12th Edition which can be
purchased at the NCCC bookstore.
*$100 State of Connecticut EMT Practical Exam is the psychomotor
(practical skills) portion of the test.
*$70 National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)
computer testing and registration.
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION
This comprehensive, 60-hour course will prepare students for an entry
-level position in a community, hospital or long-term care setting. It is
also an excellent review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification
Board (PTCB) national certification exam. Topics will include medical
terminology specific to the pharmacy; reading and interpreting
prescriptions; and defining drugs by generic and brand names.
Students will learn dosage calculation; I.V. flow rate; drug
compounding; and dose conversion. Dispensing of prescriptions;
inventory control; billing, and insurance reimbursement will also be
discussed. The course fee does not include the PTCB exam fee. Anyone
convicted of a felony is also not permitted to sit for the exam. Course
Pre-requisite: High School Diploma or GED and fluency in
mathematics, conversions and algebra are required to complete
necessary pharmaceutical calculations. Students who have not
successfully completed any college-level course work in mathematics,
or are unable to provide a transcript, will be required to take a
mathematics competency test, at no cost, prior to registering. Call
860-738-6484 to register for a testing date. The test takes
approximately one hour.
