Whales, you sense them before you see them!
More than 15 species are found in the Bay of Fundy
including the endangered Right whale. Learn about
their habitat and see the mighty giants with the
expert help from experienced whale-watch operators.
New Brunswick is a stopover on the Atlantic
flyway for hundreds of thousands of shorebirds.
Historically, Audubon identified more than 300
species of birds while visiting Grand Manan Island.
The province is a mecca for birdwatching, visit Marys
Point, Cape Jourimain Nature Centre, Dorchester
Cape or Lamèque with a 24-hour osprey watch,
Miscou Island, with over 300 species identified,
Machias Seal Island and the puffin colony,
Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada with the
endangered piping plovers.
Black bear safaris are a unique way to see
these magnificent animals while they feed and
interact in their natural environment.

Story Angles include:
• The archaeological dig at Red Bank, first called
Metepenagiag by the Mi’kmaq First Nation, has the
most prehistoric archaeological sites anywhere in the
Maritimes. Artifacts from the old villages include
arrowheads, scrapers, knives and axes as well as
thousands of pieces of clay cooking pots.
• The unique Fundy and Acadian Isles … the summer
home of former U.S. President Franklin Delano
Roosevelt is located on Campobello Island. Old Sow
whirlpool, the second-largest whirlpool in the world,
is located off Deer Island. The quaint Grand Manan
Island, known for its supply of dulse – an edible
seaweed; lighthouses, fishing weirs and wonderful
people with character in various corners of the
island. Miscou Island, known for its red peat bogs,
shores of untouched, unspoiled and uncommon
beauty, spectacular beaches and exceptional sand
dunes are a must-see!
• Covered Bridges – New Brunswick has 64 still
standing with most still used today. The bridges
are living examples of the pride of craftsmanship,
heritage, engineering and design of our forefathers.
• World-renowned cymbal maker – Sabian cymbals
is one of the largest cymbal makers in the world.

New York Philharmonic’s Chris Lamb endorse

A Look Ahead
The 4th World Acadian
Congress (CMA 2009) will be
held from August 7th to August
23rd, 2009, on the Acadian
Peninsula in northeast New
Brunswick. This huge gathering
will celebrate the rich heritage
of the Acadian people and will
demonstrate the vitality of their
language, culture and economy,
and strengthen the ties between
Acadians around the world.

New
Bay of Fundy Cruise
Carnival Cruise Line will be offering
six (6) - four-day weekend cruises to the
Bay of Fundy from New York beginning in
June 2007.

The Four Seasons

red and gold colours with fall-foliage
tours, the brilliant reds of the peat bogs
on the Acadian Peninsula, and lively

Spring then brings the promise of

• The Kingswood Golf Course in
Fredericton was designed by awardwinning architects Darrell Huxham and
Graham Cooke and offers a 9-m (30-ft.)
waterfall, rock croppings, pot bunkers
and marshlands.
• Royal Oaks Estates & Golf Club,
Moncton, was designed by worldrenowned U.S. Open architect Rees
Jones. This parkland European linkstyle design features a landscape of
large lakes surrounded by rolling dunes

• The Fairmont Algonquin, St. Andrews
by-the-Sea, has tested golfer’s skills for
over 100 years. In 1999, award-winning

Shediac Lobster Festival – July 4-8, is located in the Lobster Capital of
the World with the “world’s largest lobster” and the warmest salt water
north of Virginia. Lobster-eating contests daily, great entertainment,
fabulous food with lobster as the “King,” this festival draws visitors
from around the world and is celebrating its 58th year!
Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival – September 11-16, the streets come
alive in Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital city, for Atlantic Canada’s
largest celebration of jazz, blues and world music. Five days and
nights, 135 performers, 350 artists, two-dozen intimate stages, in five
historic downtown blocks. This jazz and blues festival is known as the
best east of Montreal and its reputation is growing!
Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival – July 25-29, is unique
in Canada and is preparing for its 32nd edition in 2007, featuring performers from around the world. The festival is dedicated to music from the
period 1600-1760 with outstanding performances on period instruments.
Dieppe International Kite Festival – August 15-19, is a colourful international
festival with over 35 countries presenting their kites, their cultural and culinary
distinctions. Kite building is demonstrated with flyers from around the world.
Festival Acadien de Caraquet – August 5-15, celebrate Acadian
culture amid the awesome crowds and the warm, friendly hospitality
of Caraquet. Experience the noisy tintamarre, a parade like none other!
