Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Basket Raffle. The baskets were amazing and the
generosity of our sponsors is appreciated. Alumnae parent, Pat Colligan, did a wonderful job hosting the event.
I am also so appreciative of the countless hours of work by out chairs, Elena Iadevaia and Meg Brautigan, and
everyone who donated their time, treasure, and talent to make this event so successful. I am grateful for your
support of our students and school as we live our mission every day.
I am also grateful to my nephew and St. Bartholomew School graduate, Dr. Joseph Raviola, a pediatric resident,
who taught students in grades Pre-K through 8 ways to keep healthy during the flu season.
This Wednesday is a dress-down day for students whose families purchased a Grand Prize raffle ticket to support
the Basket Raffle.
Please donate a food item to support the Parish St. Vincent DePaul Thanksgiving Food Drive. Thank you for your
support.
Our eighth grade students will be attending a performance of It’s a Wonderful Life at Bishop Ahr High School on
Thursday.
Next Tuesday, November 25, St. Bartholomew Parish will be hosting the East Brunswick Interfaith Prayer Service
beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Church. Families and students are encouraged to attend. Students should be in
uniform for this special occasion. We will also have a Thanksgiving Prayer Service on Wednesday, November 26,
at 10:30 a.m. prior to our Thanksgiving break, which begins with an 11:30 a.m. dismissal that day.
Our Latin Program will begin this Tuesday, November 18, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Technology Center.
Students who are not in Band or Chorus may complete their homework with the Homework Club or in the
Technology Center prior to the start of the Latin class. We are looking forward to this wonderful course.
Congratulations to our students who achieved Principal’s List or Honor Roll for the first quarter. We are so
proud of your hard work! Congratulations also to eighth grade student, Alex Antigua, for being selected to
represent New Jersey in the Power Showcase Homerun Derby and Future Stars All-American Team to be held in
Miami.
As we continue to celebrate the wonderful events and learning that take place at St. Bartholomew School, I am
grateful to our parents, guardians, and parish for their support. Have a wonderful week!
God bless you,
Mrs. Ann Wierzbicki
Principal

SHOPAROO
Speaking of shopping, our HSA President, Mrs.
O’Connell, has found us a Hassle-Free and
Totally Free Fundraising Opportunity called
Shoparoo. Start using Shoparoo to earn
money for St. Bartholomew School. Shoparoo
is a free mobile app that lets you earn cash
donations just by taking pictures of your
shopping receipts. It just takes a few seconds.
The best part is that it doesn't matter where
you shop or what you buy - every receipt
counts! There are schools earning hundreds of
dollars a year through Shoparoo, and we want
ours to be one of them.
If you use the link below, we'll earn extra
donations for your first qualifying receipt.

Thanksgiving 2014 Food Collection
Once again, the SBS students are being asked to participate in a St. Bartholomew Parish
community service project. The Thanksgiving Food Collection has us working with our
parish’s St. Vincent dePaul Society to provide food for the holiday meal for the less
fortunate in our local communities.
The items needed for this food drive are listed below. If you are unable to supply the
specific food requested, please consider a making a $1.00 donation. This money will be
used to purchase necessary items for the parish food pantry.
All donations can be brought to school starting Monday, November 17. Our food
collection will end on Friday, November 21.
This project allows our students to recognize the needs of others and provides them with
an opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the world around them. Your
donation will ensure that many families will be able to share a wonderful meal and give
them a day of happy memories. Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for any help you can give.
We also invite the 8th graders to come and help with the collection and sorting of the
items on Sunday, November 23, from 9 am – 1 pm. Students may come at any time and
do not need to sign up. Parents/guardians must give permission and provide transportation.
Students will receive credit for service.

ADVENT WREATHS
As the season of Advent quickly approaches parish families are invited to bring
one of the Church’s customs into their homes as a family tradition. The Advent Wreath
is also a perfect way for families to spiritually prepare for Christmas. The gradual lighting
of each of the colored candles each week during Advent symbolizes our anticipation and
joyful hope in our Lord as we remember his birth.
Families who wish to bring this custom into their home by making their own
Advent Wreath are invited to join us in the Parish Hall on Sunday November 30, 2014,
at 11:00am the first Sunday of Advent. We will be hosting one session following the
10:00 Mass and before the 12:00 Mass. All the materials for the wreath and Advent
prayers will be provided as well as some refreshments.
Materials have been ordered for this event, so it is necessary for each family to
register. A fee of $10.00 defrays the cost of the materials. If you have any questions or
concerns; please call The Office of Religious Education at 732-390-0354. We look
forward to seeing you there and sharing in the joys and blessings of the Advent Season.

ST. BARTHOLOMEW HSA’s
PRAYER AT HARVEST AN D THANKSGIVING
O God, source and giver of all things,
You manifest your infinite majesty, power and goodness
in the earth about us,
we give you honor and glory.
For the sun and the rain,
for the manifold fruits of our fields,
for the increase of our herds and flocks,
we thank you.
For the enrichment of our souls with divine grace,
we are grateful.
Supreme Lord of the harvest,
graciously accept us and the fruits of our toil,
in union with Jesus, your Son,
as atonement for our sins,
for the growth of your Church,
for peace and love in our homes,
and for salvation for all.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
