KAHUNA SERIES
Just as music drives the technology,
technology also drives music into new
territory. New manufacturing processes
and new materials have pushed musical
horizons to previously unimaginable new
worlds. While its visual beauty has made
bubinga a popular choice for home
furniture, in recent years piano and guitar
manufacturers have turned to bubinga
as other, better-known hardwoods have
become less abundant. Nevertheless, its
extreme hardness
makes it difficult to
bend. With its figured grain and rich color,
bubinga was originally used exclusively
as a veneer to dress up the shells for
cosmetic purposes, but its superior
acoustic properties – warm, punchy lows,
bright, focused highs, and covering the
full audio spectrum with great clarity –
make it a great tone wood. Advances
in machining and tooling have made
working with the hard, dense wood, also
known as African rosewood, a more
practical matter. Peace is one of the few
manufacturers that have the capability
and the expertise to form drums made
of
this exotic hardwood.
Pe a c e ’ s Ka h u n a s e r i e s,
named
for the title of
the high priest of pre-colonial Hawaiian
culture, are 9-ply, 100% bubinga shells
construction. The Kahuna series sets
feature tube lugs, die-cast claws, rimsmount toms, and come with Remo
pinstripe heads, making the series a top
choice for professionals and tone meisters

Those with a passion for playing drums

that tradition, Peace’s flagship Paragon
series is constructed of 9-plies of the
finest Canadian rock maple – the best of
the best. As a discerning professional’s
choice and like other boutique drum
kits in its class, Paragon series drums are
customizable with respect to desired shell
sizes – diameter and depth, and the entire
selection of lacquer finishes – from Astro
Pop to Velvet Plum – is available, allowing
players to create a totally personalized
set-up. Additional notable features unique
to the Paragon series include Peace’s
proprietar y, patented Lug Integrated
Floating Tom Suspension (LIFTS) system
and Peace’s patented DA-121 and DA122 Deus micro tube lugs. LIFTS crescent
mounts connect to toms around the
shaft of the Deus micro tube lugs – not to
tension rods like typical crescent mounts.
This not only assures less stress to crucial
tuning points, but it also makes
changing heads while the tom is
mounted possible. Great looks, fantastic
sound, and tech-friendly design, all add

drum set offered by Peace, the X3 Bee
Bopp 4-pc. package kit has been a
mainstay of the line for a number of years.
A bona fide pro jazz kit with a multitude
of applications beyond the jazz idiom,
the X3 represents the perfect marriage
of tradition and innovation. In keeping
with current trends in the drumming
community, the X3 gets a minor makeover
for this year ’s catalog

op: Tripleflanged
hoops have been replaced with
laminated maple. Not a follower of
fashion? No matter. Triple-flanged hoops
are still a standard, included feature. The
new laminated maple hoops are sold
separately. Likewise, nothing else has
been changed to the specs: lacquer
finish 9-ply maple shells, independently
mounted drums for sonic clarity and
optimum projection, rims-mount tom,
and heavy-duty hardware – including a
bass drum lift that elevates the batter side
so the pedal beater hits the sweet spot
on the head – complete the package.
We understand that in some cases size
matters, but we also heard that David
slew Goliath. Sometimes less is more –
especially if the guy in the mirror is also
the roadie.

drummers, a snare stand replaces the
rack-mounted boom arm and basket.

First offered in 2001, Peace’s Demolition
series became an instant hit with working
drummers, aspiring musicians on a

employees alike. The Demolition’s striking
looks – accented by the black powdercoated hardware – were
part of the allure.
Handsome, well-designed, rugged,
reliable, sounding like drums costing

2009 Demolition has the same brave
heart – 9-ply mahogany shells, series
