Introducing this year’s Mr.

Nolan will be the third
Indian to represent our
country at Mr. Gay World
(MGW), ever since the
pageant took off in 2009.
Scheduled to take place
from August 1st – August
5th, MGW 2013 will be held
at Antwerp, Belgium. 66

Nolan was born and brought up
in Mumbai and has been a model
since his college days. However
realizing that modelling could not
be a stable career option, he was
on the search for other avenues
that offered a regular income.
He says now he is a self-employed
man and is loving what he is doing
currently. “I’m a tarot card reader
and a crystal healer. Occasionally,
I also write astrological columns
for newspapers.” Even then, he
decided to give modelling another
go and has now signed a contract
with a model agency. He has
also done a video shoot for the
popular Indian girl band - Viva’s
music video, ‘Jahan Ho Pyar Ka
Mausam’, along with Zoltan Parag,
the first Indian to participate in
Mr. Gay World pageant. For this 28 year old guy, Mr. Gay
World was not something that
he had planned out. Nolan was
in Johannesburg in April last
year, completing a photo-shoot
for South African documentary
photographer, Blake Woodhams.
Coincidentally, Johannesburg was
hosting Mr. Gay World 2012 that
very evening. “We watched the
pageant, grabbed a few drinks and
made a joke about how we should
forward my photographs to MGW
for 2013’s registrations.” And then
that’s what he did.
A few weeks later Nolan
received a registration form and
a questionnaire in his inbox.
“Since India does not have a
local sponsor, MGW had their
director in the Philippines, Ms.
Noemi Alberto, conducted my
auditions via Skype. A few videoconferences later, I was chosen as
Mr. Gay India 2013 over six other
Indian guys.” 8
The fact that India does not have
a MGW representative is proving
to be quite a challenge for Nolan
to participate in the pageant. “I
don’t have anyone sponsoring
my airfare or wardrobe. That’s
the basic entitlement of any
contestant representing a country
at an international level.”
Nolan hopes to change this
situation for the future MGW
Indian contestants. “I will have
a chat with MGW about hiring
me as the recruiting agent for
the next delegate from India,
since there’s no one as of now.”
So would he be kicking off a Mr.
Gay India pageant from next year
onwards? “I can only comment
about the possibility of a full
blown pageant, once I’m back
from MGW. But you are going to
have someone representing India
each year from now for sure!” All the best Nolan for MGW and
also for the initiative that you are
planning to bring for the future
MGW aspirers! Come to think of it, a Mr. Gay
India pageant is not a bad
idea after all. India has seen
a remarkable progress ever
since the Delhi High Court
decriminalized homosexuality
in 2009. The post 377 era has
afforded a favourable pitch for
a host of LGBT entities - from a
gay travel boutique, a gay event
management firm, a fashion
store to a queer book store, an
LGBT discount card and an annual
international LGBT film festival;
India has seen it all! A gay pageant
would be a perfect piece for this
melange aiding ourselves to be
visible more conspicuously. TQC

(CSB):
Crazy Sam’s Bloginess (CSB)
is one of the popular gay

enjoys a good readership
with over 250,000 hits,

in September 2007.
Covering wide range
of topics from gay life,
homophobia to photography
and modelling, the blog

fraternity world-wide.
Unlike other Indian gay
blogs, CSB is unique in the
sense that it is ‘straightfriendly’ aiming to sensitize
the subject of homosexuality
among straight people.
What was started as a
personal blog, slowly
transformed into a gay
website portal (singlehandedly managed by Sam)
highlighting the issues
faced by gay community,
offering support to lessen
their dilemmas, voicing
against homophobia and
paedophile, Sam’s coming
to terms with sexuality,
interacting with famous
photographers and male
models, and spreading cheer
with aesthetic male shots.

Manscaping
Once upon a time, hair removal
wasn’t something most men even
considered. However times change
and so do our grooming rituals.
Most men don’t necessarily want it
all removed, but they definitely want
body hair to be thinned out, more so
on their back, chest and limbs.
TQC presents you with the most
common hair removal options
available today.

W
axing or
sugaring
Think hair removal, and
most people think of waxing.
Think waxing and most people
envision pain.
Of course, waxing is no cake walk
but it’s not unbearable either.
However, it is one of the most
effective methods as it removes
hair from the root.
The technique involves spreading
hot wax on the desired area, and
then applying a piece of cloth or
muslin onto the wax, rubbing it
and ripping off the strip in one
swoop.
Sugaring is similar to waxing; only
it uses sugar paste, which is made
of sugar, lemon, water and citric
acid. With repeated use, hair
gradually becomes thinner as the
roots are weakened.
S
having
Most guys shave
regularly, or might have
done it at one point in their life.
When it comes to body hair
removal, shaving is probably the
easiest method available.
It allows you to cover any area of
your body in one go with just a
razor and a shaving cream.
Of course, the technique plays
a very important role here. It’s
important to shower with warm
water before shaving any part as it
will help you open pores and raise
hair follicles.
Arm yourself with a good quality
razor and shaving foam, shave it in
the direction of hair growth, and
you can’t possibly go wrong.
26
e
lectrical
trimming
Using electrical trimmers
is all about subtle maintenance
of body hair and are perfect for
someone who is a beginner in
body hair removal.
Moreover, electric trimmers are
very safe, irritation-free, unlike
razors, and it allows you to control
the length of the hair to be
trimmed.
Of course, it won’t give a smooth
finish but won’t let you become
completely bare at the same time.
This is also a good method for
people who’ve got sensitive skin.
H
air removal
creams
Also known as
Depilatories, hair removal creams
are a pain free way of removing
excess body hair. It works on
by applying the product on the
desired area for at least 10-15
minutes where it dissolves the
protein structure of a hair strand
thereby making it easier for
uprooting.
However, these kinds of products
can be a little harsh on your skin
and won’t work well on thick,
dark hair.
One word of advice - be sure
to follow all the instructions
provided on the leaflet and do a
patch test on a small area of skin
to avoid any reactions that could
potentially occur.
L
aser hair
removal
Laser treatment involves
a laser beam that involves heating
up the hair follicle and putting it
into a dormant stage of growth.
Results depend on your skin
pigmentation and the colour of
your hair, so you will first need to
find out if you’re a good candidate
for the procedure.
While laser treatment offers
a permanent reduction in the
quantity and quality of hair, it’s
also one of the most expensive
methods.
That said this is the mother of all
hair removal techniques. So, keep
in mind that your back might be
a good place to eliminate all the
body hair from, you might not
want to say goodbye to other
hairy parts, in which case waxing
can be a better alternative.
E
lectrolysis
Using an ultra-slim
needle to penetrate each
individual hair shaft, this system
delivers tiny shocks of electricity
to the hair follicle, killing the cells
that help hair grow.
Once the cell is gone, no hair can
ever grow there again. It offers
permanent results, but there is no
guarantee and the effectiveness
varies from person to person.
Ideal parts to zap hair are brows
(unibrow), back of neck and
sporadic hairs on body.
It’s significantly more expensive
and time consuming as it could
take up to a year to eliminate
body hair completely.
Take time to figure out which
technique will suit you best and
consult with your dermatologist
for sure. Happy manscaping! TQC

Princes
With the excitement of the royal baby in
the United Kingdom behind us, how could
we resist a flirtatious dalliance with young
(and eligible) male royalty?
There has always been something extremely
fascinating about young royals.
of hearts by tying the knot, the several (erstwhile)
princes are still basking in the glory of their
bachelorhood.
TQC presents to you our list of the the world's hottest
and the most eligible princes.
Whether it's their blue blood, their rich lineage, their
pleasing demeanor, or the air of mystery surrounding
them, everything about them is very alluring to
'commoners'.
All these Princes are eligible not simply because
of their blue blood, but because of their own
achievements. Royalty isn't as relevant, powerful nor
recognized as it was centuries ago.
These young royals cannot take their titles for granted
and in order to earn respect and admiration from
others, they have to prove that they are hard-working
and well deserving.
While royals like Prince William of Wales and King
Jigme Khesar Wangchuck of Bhutan broke millions
