Kim Parkey lives in Llano, Texas and he has been building bits and spurs for the last 21 years. A few years ago he
attended a bridal bit workshop that was put on by members of the TCAA, he said that was the best thing he ever
did. “Those guys have a wealth of knowledge to share and I feel fortunate to be able to learn from them, I have met
many good makers over the years and they are all so willing to share their knowledge.” His passion is building
California style bridle bits. He enjoys hearing from the people who buy his gear. Kim still enjoys riding and roping,
and using his own gear. He is a member of the Bit & Spur Makers Guild and winner of the 2015 Peoples Choice Award
with Bret Haskett in the Great Basin Cowboy Gear Show & Sale. Kim says he has been blessed with a beautiful wife
and children and a herd of grandkids.

Rodney Mike is a native Nevadan, born in Schurz, Nevada. Rodney has spent most of his adult life on the
Duckwater Shoshone Indian Reservation. While attending High School he learned to carve leather.
In the mid nineties, he participated in a few of the silver engraving classes that was offered by Jeremiah
Watt at the Cowboy Poetry gathering in Elko, Nevada. From that time on, he has continued to perfect his
talent and skill both in bright cut western engraving and leather craft. His belt buckles have been included
in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation artists five set limited edition. Four of the sets were auctioned off
in different areas of the state and the fifth was auctioned off in Reno, Nevada.
Governor Guinn was gifted with one of his an original designed buckle. Rodney also designed and created
a bracelet for the first lady Dawn Gibbons and continues his skillful original designs and creations in silver
and leather. In prior years, Mr. Mike has donated a silver piece to the Elko Cowboy Poetry for their auction
benefit.

Pat Horlacher was born and raised in a small eastern Washington town. Pat always knew he would one
day live in Oregon. After finishing the two year shoeing program at Walla Walla Community College, he
met his wife, Kailin, and moved to western Oregon to shoe horses for a living. While shoeing, he met John
and Jerri Hyde. John, a silversmith, was paramount in kick starting Pat’s silversmithing obsession. Pat’s
silverwork has become increasingly popular, a blossoming career. Pat, loving and pursuing the buckaroo
lifestyle, met Ernie Marsh. Through Ernie, he obtained a Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA)
scholarship. Pat and Kailin live in Burns, Oregon with their three children.

Intercollegiate Champion at Weber State and a three time Wilderness Circuit Bull Riding Champ. He

interested in hitching horsehair to fill time during the long drives between rodeos.
Kelly’s hitched horsehair headstalls, belts, quirts and spur straps have been much sought after by
collectors as well as working cowboys in the Wasatch Front area. He became intrigued with braiding
rawhide thirty years ago after seeing a Bill Dorrance video, as well as photographs of TCAA artist’s work.
Like a lot of people, Kelly considers Luis Ortega to be the “gold standard”. He also credits Doug Groves as
being a significant help to him.

for him and he started “All-In Custom Leather” and started marketing and building rodeo chaps. Two years
later he has made chaps for people in three different countries and his leather gear has been used in the
