In the past few months, Glenpool has welcomed several new business with more scheduled to
open soon. On July 12th, customers were lined up waiting as the Goodwill store opened their
doors at 502 W. 125th Pl. "We want our customers to feel like that they're shopping at any
other retail store, department store environment, and we think we've been able to accomplish
that with what we've built here," said David Oliver, President of Goodwill.
Complete Cosmetic Care Dentistry, led by partners Dr. Parnam Mohanna and Dr. Dalia Georgy,
opened in early September at 2136 S. Yukon Ave. Since opening on September 20th, the Pizza
Hut store located at 480 E. 141st St. has stayed busy. “Thank you for the warm welcome and
overwhelming support from the Glenpool citizens,” stated restaurant manager Brandon Guthrie.
The new Burger King located at 33 W. 141st St.

A Note from the City Manager...
It has been a good year so far for Glenpool. Our revenues
continue to exceed budget projections this fiscal year and
we have seen growth in population, housing and jobs
coming to the City. If you haven’t noticed yet, Pizza Hut is
now open and the new Burger King is scheduled to open
this week.
I am sure many of you have heard about the Vision2 vote
the Tulsa County Commissioners have called for the
November election. This vote contains two separate
initiatives. The first deals with improvements to the Tulsa
airport facilities, while the second provides funding for the
cities in Tulsa County to develop local projects intended to
spur economic development. The Glenpool City Council
passed a resolution at their last meeting announcing their
intent to submit a project to build a major-league themed
sports complex to the county if the Vision2 vote passes.
This sports complex would be a public/private partnership
to create and manage a complex with six major league themed
fields. Each field is a three-quarter replica of a major league
park, like Yankees Stadium or Camden Yards. These fields
will host both tournament and league play for baseball and
softball teams. The project will also include batting cages,
playground areas, sand volleyball, two restaurants, and a
multi-purpose activity center, which can host indoor soccer
and roller hockey among other events. These types of
facilities average 300,000 visitors per year across the country
and estimates place the regional impact to
Glenpool and Tulsa County at around $40
million annually.
I hope you take the time to learn about this
project and how it could impact Glenpool’s
future. More importantly, I hope you
choose to avail yourself of your right to
vote in the upcoming elections.

OCOTBER 2012 EDITION
PROPOSED VISION2 PROJECT FOR GLENPOOL
On November 6th, the voters in Tulsa County will be voting on
Vision2 which is the extension of Vision2025 sales tax.
There are two parts to Vision2, one is the Economic Development
for the Airport Infrastructure while the Quality of Life piece helps
fund community projects. If the Vision2 Quality of Life passes, the
City of Glenpool will be allocated $5.9 million and the city will also
be receiving $2.1 million from Vision2025.
Earlier this month, the City Council approved a resolution supporting an extension of Vision2025 with intentions to
construct a major league themed sports complex on 30 acres of city owned property at the southeast corner of 161st
& Elwood Ave. This would be a public/private partnership meaning the city would build it, own it and contract with Big
League Dreams to maintain the complex and conduct the day-to-day operations. Big League Dreams would then split
revenues with the city.
The sports complex would cost an estimated $18 million and includes 6 artificial turf fields, an indoor soccer facility,
batting cages, playground area and 2 restaurants. The fields are 3quarter replicas of major league ballparks such as
Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park & Wrigley Field. These fields are designed to accommodate youth baseball, youth
softball, and adult softball but they can also be used for special events such as corporate events and concerts.
This multi-use facility is a great economic development tool not only for Glenpool but the Tulsa area as a whole. With
an estimated 300,000 visitors annually this will have a projected $40 million dollar impact to the Tulsa area. This will
be the only facility of it’s kind in Oklahoma and will draw teams from a 5 state area. Mayor Tommy Carner stated,
“This complex will put Glenpool on the map.”
