Museum of the South opens Botong exhibit SISC’s Museum of the South opens its first collaborative exhibition, “Botong Francisco: A Nation Imagined,” with Ayala Museum as part of the Foundation Month celebration. The exhibit features twenty-five reproductions of the most celebrated paintings of National Artist for Visual Arts Carlos “Botong” Francisco from institutional and private collections. Accompanying these images is a film produced by Ayala Foundation, Inc., and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Peque Gallaga on Botong’s vision and artistry. The extraordinary quality of the works gathered together confirms Botong Francisco’s status as the country’s foremost mural artist. He created visually arresting works of art that are uniquely Filipino with themes revolving around historical events and figures, folk traditions, and the rural lifestyle. Parenting Corner Music & kids Given the power of music and its potent messages, parents need to decide what their kids are ready for. Here are some tips: 1. Be a model for music. Your child will sing along with whatever you select, so make sure you choose songs with lyrics you won’t mind your child repeating if you aren't around. 2. Keep an eye on digital music. Take note of what they're downloading and ask them to play their favorite songs for you. 3. Play your favorite music for kids and enjoy together. It's surprising how much kids enjoy listening to vintage tunes.
