SISC marks 24th Foundation Day
Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) celebrates
its 24th Foundation Month through a series of activities which
started off with the Opening Ceremony. In his welcome
remarks, SISC President Dr. Marl V. Ferenal likened the
institution’s twenty-four years of existence to 24-karat gold
which is the purest form of gold the same way the faculty,
students, and staff has shown pure commitment and hard
work in contributing to the progress of the school.
Other highlights of the opening ceremony included the parade
of the Student Councils of Basic Education and College, the
Mr. & Ms. Teen SISC candidates, and the College Deans and
Chairs with their student representatives. The champion
Grade 10 Pep Squad performed their stunts and routines before
the College Chorale Group rendered their numbers. The SISC
Inter-Cultural Affairs Dance Troupe captivated the audience
with their rendition of a Philippine folk dance.
The Gr. 10 Pep Squad salutes SISC on its 24th year.
Selected SISC officers, teachers and students also professed
their pride as a Southville Monarch before the different College
Programs launched their respective projects which will
culminate on the school’s 25th Anniversary next year.
Museum of the South opens Botong exhibit
SISC’s Museum of the South opens its first collaborative
exhibition, “Botong Francisco: A Nation Imagined,” with
Ayala Museum as part of the Foundation Month celebration.
The exhibit features twenty-five reproductions of the most
celebrated paintings of National Artist for Visual Arts Carlos
“Botong” Francisco from institutional and private collections.
Accompanying these images is a film produced by Ayala
Foundation, Inc., and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Peque
Gallaga on Botong’s vision and artistry.
The extraordinary quality of the works gathered together
confirms Botong Francisco’s status as the country’s foremost
mural artist. He created visually arresting works of art that
are uniquely Filipino with themes revolving around historical
events and figures, folk traditions, and the rural lifestyle.
Theme of
the Year:
The Botong Francisco exhibit will run until October 15, 2014.
The exhibit is free and open to all SISC families.

Corner
Music & kids
Given the power of music and its potent
messages, parents need to decide what their
kids are ready for. Here are some tips:
1. Be a model for music. Your child will sing
along with whatever you select, so make
sure you choose songs with lyrics you won’t
mind your child repeating if you aren't
around.
2. Keep an eye on digital music. Take note
of what they're downloading and ask them
to play their favorite songs for you.
3. Play your favorite music for kids and
enjoy together. It's surprising how much
kids enjoy listening to vintage tunes. (https://

SISC will host the Asian International Schools
Activities Conference (AISAC) volleyball, basketball,
and football competitions on September 24 - 28, 2014.
It is a great privilege to host the event since it will
serve as an opportunity for the school to benchmark,
to be further recognized, and to network with other
international schools.
SISC students and athletes will gain a lot from this
experience especially those who will host some of
the visitors. They will meet new friends and be
enriched by the cross-cultural experience through
sports. By opening your home and your family to
these delegates, you guarantee that they will have
an unforgettable welcome to SISC.

Ten out of ten kids love to draw! Art activities stimulate
a preschool child's imagination and creativity, and help
with physical and mental development. Recognizing
this, the Preschool Department is holding an art
contest for its Nursery, Kinder, Junior Prep, and
Senior Prep students and their parents.
Dubbed “Painting with Mom and Dad,” it’s a contest
where everyone wins in terms of fun and parent-child
bonding! It will be held on September 20, 2014, 9:00
- 11:30 am, at the Luxembourg Gym. Registration
starts at 8:45 am.
