Not only fast, polar bears, on average, can swim nonstop for 62 miles - that’s like swimming from SLC to Park City and back! The Zoo’s flamboyant superintendent threatened to turn all the animals loose if the water was not turned back on. The water was restored and the animals remained in their exhibits. Black and White Ruffed Lemur Varecia variegata veriegata Lemurs get their name from the Ancient Roman belief that they were ghosts or spirits. They were mistaken for ghosts because of their nocturnal, stealth habits. They have been known to sprint 180 feet in just 3 seconds. That’s like running more than half a football field in 3 seconds!
