Two trains have colided in Southern Italy resulting in
the deaths of twenty people.
The collision of two passengers trains occurred on a
single-track line between the coastal towns of Bari
and Barletta at 11:30am local time.
Dozens have been injured, with emergency workers
on scene with powerful cutting tools to release
victims trapped in the mangled carriges. An onsight
field hospital has been set up to care for the
wounded.
At present there is no clear indication as to the
cause of the accident that happened in good,
clear weather conditions. Human error has not
been ruled out.
