As I write this we just celebrated the Summer Solstice special with a
Full Moon AND a Blue Moon; the first in almost 50 years! Did you
know that the last time we saw a full moon ON the Summer Solstice
it was 1967 and it was called The Summer of Love! <3
It’s hard to believe that we’re just barely kicking off summer and
we’re lining up our Annual Trip Kickoff Party to announce our ski trips and long distance
trips!!! But get ready, ‘cause it’s coming!!
The board has followed your lead again, and based on your feedback from the trip survey,
we’ve got a HOT, SIZZLIN’ line up of long-distance ski trips! AND, we’ve got an epic adventure
planned to The Amalfi Coast with some nice surprises!!! Be sure to come to Loch Haven to get
the scoop on the 17th!
Okay, it is summer after all, so if you haven’t already checked out the Beach Trip planned for Oct
2nd – 9th, that may be right up your alley!
We always have something for everyone – skiers and non-skiers alike!
See you at Loch Haven on the 17th for the Trip Kickoff Party!

Loch Haven Lake.
So many times at our Ski Club parties the lines to check in can take
quite a while to get through. Last year folks waited over 5, even 10 minutes to get into the party.
Don’t be like those others who have to wait in a long line!
Plus, all those who complete their membership renewal form by July 13th, will also be eligible to win
a Helly Hansen Toiletries Wash Bag.

Membership dues are: $35 for individual, $50 for family, and $40 single parent family,
and $15 for full-time student (under 23).
Our membership year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.

Are you involved with a club other than the Roanoke Ski Club? If so, have you ever

As we prepare for the upcoming season and are looking forward to our Trip kickoff
party, please keep everyone posted on our club activities by utilizing the Roanoke
Ski Club group Facebook page as well as your own personal social media. We want
to highlight our club and the variety of activities we do in addition to our
phenomenal trips. Thank you to all who have posted their amazing photos and trip
details. Keep them coming!
I know it's only July, but GOFest 2016 (Oct. 14-16) will be here before you know it!
The club really appreciates and relies on our volunteers over the three days. The
volunteer schedule will be available at the Trip Kickoff party so come prepared to
sign up for a two-hour window.
Last but not least, you all as members are our best and most valuable asset. The
Club couldn't exist without you. Personal referrals are the cornerstone to success
for any club, group, or business. Please make sure you pick up some business
cards at the next membership meeting to pass out while you're going about your
daily activities. And a HUGE THANK YOU to each of you!!!!

TRIPS! TRIPS! TRIPS!
I am pleased to announce that the trip lineup for the 2016 - 2017 season is complete!
I am very excited about this season’s trips. There is a lot of value in each trip and there
will be some hard choices in selecting your trip(s)!
The Trip Director, Trip Leaders and the Board put in many hours arranging and planning
these trips. I know you will be as pleased as we are with the lineup.

Trip Leaders are busy working on their respective trip packages to present to you at the
Trip Kickoff Party at Loch Haven Lake from 4:00 – 8:00 on Sunday, July 17th.
Also, keep an eye out for the trip brochure which will be mailed in early July. Contact
me if you haven’t received one by July 15 or pick one up at the Kickoff Party.
