Phase One: Local volunteers are trained in how to assess the adopted Standards of Excellence and are assigned to panels to review the applications submitted by the agencies. They also make an on-site visit to facilitate a further understanding of each program and then “score” the application and program. Phase Two: A twelve member Community Investment Council is responsible for hearing reports from the panels on the effectiveness of each reviewed program. The Council is made up of twelve local volunteers. After hearing all of the panel reports, they will make a recommendation on how funding should be disbursed. Funding is provided from the United Way of the Concho Valley annual campaign and the amount raised will vary from year to year. Phase Three: In this phase of the process, the United Way Board of Directors reviews the recommendations of the Council and must approve them prior to the disbursal of funds. United Way of the Concho Valley works hard to raise funds necessary to support strong, effective and needed programs in the Concho Valley. We do not fund “agencies” - we provide funding support to targeted programs that can meet a high standard of excellence. United Way of the Concho Valley believes that our community should always be our priority - and donors should be able to play a part in deciding how we distribute funding support to agencies in our community. We also believe programs receiving funding support from United Way of the Concho Valley should be able to demonstrate their effectiveness on an annual basis and provide data to show how they improve lives in the Concho Valley. Every non-profit agency in the Concho Valley is eligible to apply for funding support from United Way of the Concho Valley on an annual basis. The funding application must show that the program will provide assistance in the areas of health, education or income. United Way funding is not an entitlement and every program is re-evaluated on a yearly basis. 7 RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT Annual Campaign The work of United Way of the Concho Valley could not be accomplished without campaign volunteers. Volunteers include the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Loaned Executives as well as Employee Campaign Coordinators and Teams. Loaned Executives Loaned Executives are volunteers “loaned” from local companies that give United Way the essential man power to take our message to workplaces throughout the 14 county area known as the Concho Valley. In 2015, 25 Loaned Executives conducted campaigns and raised 80% of the total donations to United Way of the Concho Valley. Alexis de Tocqueville Society Alexis de Tocqueville Society members contributed $204,010 to the United Way of the Concho Valley in 2015. Society members provide the leadership and generosity that transform our community. Front Runner Club The Front Runner Club members lead the way for community giving for United Way of the Concho Valley. Each of these leadership givers donate $1000 or more annually to assure our community is able to improve lives in our community. Alexis de Tocqueville Society Membeship in the society is granted for those who contribute $10,000 or more annually.
