Dear Colleagues,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this prestigious congress of Asia Pacific Association of
Pediatric Allergy, Respirology, and Immunology (APAPARI) Congress 2014 in conjunction with
the second annual meeting of Indonesian Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology (IPACI).
This congress will be held on 8-10 October 2014, at the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta,
Indonesia. This congress is organized by Allergy Immunology Working Group of Indonesian
Pediatric Society.
The theme of this three day-congress is “Challenges on allergic, respiratory, and immunology
disease in the future”. We will have plenary and parallel symposium, debate with distinguished
speakers from United States, Australia, Asian countries and many more which some of
them represented APAPARI, Asia Pediatric Respirology Interest Group (APRIG) and World of
Allergy Organization (WAO). We also have two interesting workshops especially for pediatric
researchers and junior doctors.
We also hope that your proposed visit to Yogyakarta will be one of your unforgettable moments.
In the aspect of tourism, Yogyakarta has widely been known as the second most visited province
after Bali, as this province has a rich culture and a wide variety of world-class heritages, such
as Sultan’s palace, Taman Sari water castle, and Prambanan Temple. Yogyakarta is also
acknowledged as the center of Javanese culture. In addition, Borobudur temple, the biggest
Buddhist temple in the world, is located in a short distance, while the well-known island of Bali
can be reached within an hour by plane from Yogyakarta.
Finally, we are looking forward for your participation in this congress.

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Allergy,
Respirology, and Immunology (APAPARI) Congress 2014 in conjunction with the 2nd Annual
Meeting of Indonesian Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology (IPACI). This time, the meeting
will be held in the beautiful Indonesian city of Yogyakarta.
Our meeting – APAPARI in conjunction with IPACI - is the only meeting that is fully devoted to
pediatric allergy, respirology and clinical immunology in the region which has close to half of
the world population. Allergic disorders are rapidly increasing especially in the urban settings
while respiratory infections are the important causes of morbidity and mortality many Asian
countries.
Sumadiono, Dina Muktiarti and their team, along with members from the Board of directors
of APAPARI have worked very hard in putting together an exciting program including the
latest knowledge regarding the practice and research in our field. The program has also been
enriched with sessions proposed by the Asia Pediatric Respiratory Interest Group (APRIG). You
will find your participation in the meeting rewarding and useful for your clinical practice.
Indonesia is one of the most populous country in the region. With its richness of history
and culture, diverse landscape, and friendly people, and rapidly changing urban and rural
environment, you will be amazed and impressed by your experience in this country. In addition
to attending the scientific sessions of the meeting, catching up with colleagues and establishing
new links, we also hope you will have time to explore the beautiful city of Yogyakarta and some

The Indonesian Pediatric Society is proud to organize The Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric
Allergy, Respirology, and Immunology (APAPARI) Congress 2014. This congress is targeted
towards pediatrician and doctors who aspire interest in the areas of pediatric allergy,
respirology, and immunology. The faculty members are an extensive expert panel consisting
of APAPARI members and Asia Pasific key opinion leaders. The participants will have a great
opportunity to interact and share their knowledge, experience and challenges with the faculty
and peers. It will also an unique occasion to network with the faculty member who are global
leaders in their respective field.
We thank The Pediatric Allergy Immunology Working Group of Indonesia Pediatric Society
which has prepared this congress to be held properly, so that participants can attend each

All visitors must have a valid visa to travel to
and enter Indonesia. Various processes are
available depend on nationality, purpose of
travel, and eligibility.
Visa On Arrival can be proceeded as soon
as arrival in Indonesia through Immigration
Office in Denpasar or Jakarta. Visa On Arrival
proceeded in Yogyakarta is only for direct
international flight to Yogyakarta.

Guideline for poster presentation
- The poster will be mounted daily during
the symposium (October 8th-9th, 2014)
- Poster is written and presented in
English.
- Please prepare your poster on one sheet
of cardboard. Alternatively presenters
may display their material on several
smaller sheets.
- The dimensions of the poster should not
exceed 90 cm width x 120 cm height
- Allocate the top of the poster for the title
and authors as stated on the submitted
abstract.
- The text, illustrations, etc should be clear
enough to be read from a distance of two
meters (six feet).
- Tacks and technical equipment will be
provided by the Organizing Committee
for the mounting of posters.
- Please refer to the email of abstract
acceptance for the poster number
assigned to you.
- Poster installation is on October 8th 2014
at 8 am and should be dismantled on
October 9th 2014 at 4 pm.
- There should be 1 person from authors
presents the poster to the judges
during poster presentation session.
Presentation time is approximately 3
minutes.

Awards
1. The award will be given to 3 best
oral presentations and 3 best poster
presentations
2. The evaluation will be based on
the scientific content of the poster,
presentation design and the presentation

closing ceremony and the award and
prize will be given by the Organizing
Committee of APAPARI 2014.

Y
ogyakarta city ( also called Yogya) is a
city in the Yogyakarta Special Region,
Indonesia. It is renowned as a center of
classical Javanese fine art and culture
such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry,
and puppet shows. Yogyakarta was the
Indonesian capital during the Indonesian
National Revolution from 1945 to 1949.
Yogyakarta is the second most important
tourist destination in Indonesia after Bali.
Most tourists come to Yogyakarta for its
strong Javanese culture and tradition. This
makes it prominent among other Javanese
cities. Along with Surakarta or Solo, a city
lying about 64 km to the east, Yogyakarta is
the center of Javanese culture.
While the city spreads in all directions from
the Kraton ( the Sultan’s palace ), the core
of the modern city is to the north, centering
around Dutch colonial-era buildings and the

commercial district. Jalan Malioboro, with
rows of sidewalk vendors and nearby market
and malls, is the primary shopping street for
tourist in the city, while Jalan Solo, further
north, is a shopping distric more frequented
by locals.
At Yogyakarta’s center is the Kraton, or
Sultan’s palace. Surrounding the Kraton is a
densely populated residential neighborhood
that occupies land that was formerly the
Sultan’s sole domain. Evidence of this former
use remains in the form of old walls and the
ruined Taman Sari, built in 1758 as a pleasure
garden. No longer used by the sultan, the
garden had been largely abandoned. For
a time, it was used for housing by palace
employees and descendants. Reconstruction
efforts began in 2004, and an effort to renow
the neighborhood around the kraton has
begun. The site is a developing tourist
attraction.
Nearby to the city of Yogyakarta is Mount
Merapi. The northern outskirts of the city run
up to the southern slopes of the mountain
in Sleman Regency. Gunung Merapi ( literally
Mountain of Fire in Indonesian / Javanese
), is an active Stratavolcano locatated
on the border between Central Java and
Yogyakarta. It is the most active volcano in
Indonesia and has erupted regulary since
1548. The volcano last erupted in November
2010.

BOROBUDUR Temple
TAMANSARI Water castle
Borobudur located at Magelang, Central
Java – Indonesia. It takes an hours
from Yogyakarta. Borobudur is a ninthcentury Mahayana Buddhist monument
. The monument comprises six square
platforms topped by three circular
platforms, and is decorate with 2,672
relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.
A main dome, located at the center of
the top platform, is surrounding by 72
Buddha statues seated inside perforate
stupa.
Tamansari is located about 2 km south of
Yogyakarta Palace. Built by Portuguese
architect in European aquatic construction
adorned with Javanese Symbolix=ze
ornaments. Tamansari was built in the
Sultan Hamengku Buwono I periode in the
end of XVII century. Tamansari not only just
a recreation, but it’s also a compound of
bathing pool, canals, rooms and extremerly
large swimming pool ( if the canals opened ).

PRAMBANAN Temple
SULTAN Palace
Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple
compound in Indonesia. Lying in central
java, the Hindu monuments was built
approximately in 850 by either Rakai
Pikatan, king of the second Mataram
dynasty or Balitung Maha Sumbu, during
the Sanjaya dynasty. It is a UNESCO
World Heritahe Site. The temple is
typical of Hindu temple architecture
with tall and pointed structures. Eight
main shrines or candis are found in
the compound. There are more than
250 surrounding individual candis.
Three main shrines, called Trisakti
which means ‘ three sacred places ‘ ,
are dedicated to the gods Shiva the
Destroyer, Vishnu the Keeper and
Brahma the Creator.
Kraton or the Palace where Sultan and
his family of Yogyakarta live is located
in the center of the axis stretching
from north to the south, and in the
secondary axis from the east to the west.
It is encircled by row of the mountains
called the Horizon as the border of the
universe.
It lies between Tugu as the north border
and Panggung Krapyak as south border,
between Code River in the east and
Winongo River in the west; between the
Merapi Mountain and the South Sea. In
the mind of the Javanese community,
Kraton is defined as center of the world
that is decribed as center of the universe.
VREDEBURG
Vredeburg fortress was located in
Malioboro street, was faced with the
Agung Building that was the Country ‘s
Palace. The government of Netherlands
Colonial built fortress the first time
during 1760 by name of the Rustenberg
Fortress or the Rest Fortress. Further
during 1756 the development of this
fortress was completed and the name
replaced to the Vredeburg Fortress that
meant the Peace Fortress.

IMOGIRI ROYAL
Cemetary
This Cemetary lies on the beautiful
hill about 12 kilometers from
Yogyakarta. The tomb of Sultan Agung
Hanyokrokusumo, the third king of the
Islamic Mataram Kingdom, is on the
top of the hill. All the kings of Mataram
Kingdom, beginning from Sultan
Hamengku Buwono IX and the family,
and the kings of Surakarta Kingdoms
and the family were all buried in Imogiri
Royal Cemetery.
This cemetery was built in 1645. Visitors
have to wear traditional Javanese
clothes like in Kota Gede. Everyday many
people visit Imogiri and ascend 345
stairs to reach the top of the hill where
the tomb of the kings lies. The tomb can
only be visited on Mondays at 10.00 am
– 12.00 am and on Friday at 01.00 pm –
04.00 pm.
MALIOBORO Street
Jalan Malioboro is centrally located
in downtown Yogyakarta. The street
stretches from Tugu railway station to
the Sultan’s Keraton, spanning across
some 2,5 km in length. Major roads in
the city such as Jl Jend Sudirman, Jl
Mangkubumi, Jl P Senopati, Jl Sultan
Agung, JL KH Dahlan and Jl Pasar
Kembang will converge at this street.
Without doubt Jl Malioboro is the most
famous shopping promenade in the
city. The street probably has the most
concentration of small and personalized
sidewalk shops selling anything from
exquisite Javanese handicrafts to funky
clothes.
KASONGAN Village
Kasongan is known as the village of
Pottery, located at the Southern area
of Yogyakarta, at Bangunjiwo Dictrict of
Kasihan.

BERINGHARJO Market
Beringharjo market becomes part of
Malioboro that is worth visiting. This
market has been center of economy
activity since years ago and its
existence has philosophical meaning.
The market that had been renovated
several times symbolizes stages of
human life that is busily engaged in
its economy fulfillment. Furthermore,
Beringharjo is also one of the ‘ four
in one ‘ poles ( consisting of South
Square, Sultan palace, North Square,
and Beringharjo Market ) symbolizing
economy functions.
PARANGTRITIS Beach
Parangtritis is worth visiting since it is
closely related to such tourism objects
as the Sultan palace in Yogyakarta
city, Parangkusumo Beach to the west
of it, and the Merapi area at the north
part of Yogyakarta. Located around
27 kilometers from the city center,
Parangtritis beach is also part of the
Queen of South’s authority.
KALIURANG Area
Kaliurang is a resort of the cool air.
So here there are many villas, lodging,
most people around to call home. A
place most visited by tourists both
within and outside the country is
Telaga Putri.

destroyed village by the hot clouds
that hit the village on great eruption of
Mt Merapi in 2010, this village located

GUDEG
Gudeg is traditionally
associated with Yogyakarta,
and Yogyakarta is sometimes
nicknamed “Kota Gudeg”
(city of gudeg). Gudeg is
made from young unripe
jack fruit boiled for several
hours with palm sugar, and
coconut milk. Additional
spices include garlic, shallot,
candlenut, coriander seed,
galangal, bay leaves, and
teak leaves, the latter giving
a reddish brown color to the

as “green jack fruit sweet
stew”.
Gudeg is served with white
steamed rice, chicken either
as opor ayam (chicken
in coconut milk) or fried
chicken, telur pindang
(sweet hard-boiled egg),
opor telur (egg in coconut
milk) or just plain hardboiled egg, tofu and/or
tempeh, and sambel goreng
krecek a stew made of crisp
beef skins.

gudeg restaurants is in the
Wijilan area to the east side
of the Yogyakarta Kraton
(Sultan’s palace). Gudeg
can be packed into a besek
(box made from bamboo),
kendil (clay jar), or can.

BAKPIA
Bakpia is a popular
Indonesian bean-filled
pastry. It is a widely available
inexpensive treat and a
favoured gift for friends and
relatives. In Indonesia, it is
also widely known as bakpia
Pathok, named after a
suburb of Yogyakarta which
specialises in the pastry.
The most popular bakpia
in Indonesia is mung-bean
bakpia. As its name implies,
it is filled with sweet split
mung-bean paste. Recently
other fillings have been
created such as pineapple,
screwpine, chocolate,
durian, cheese, cappuccino
and custard.

GEPLAK
Geplak is a sweet snack
made from equal parts
coarsely grated coconut
and sugar, in equal
amounts, often colored
brightly. Some versions
include rice flour, citrus

produced in Bantul, a city in
Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

YANGKO
Yangko is a typical food of
Yogyakarta, which is made
from glutinous rice flour.
Yangko is chewy with a glaze
flour, and tastes sweet. In
its original taste, Yangko
contains mixture of chopped
nuts and sugar, similar to
cakes moci from Japan. The
difference, moci is softer
and more supple than
Yangko. In addition to the
original flavor, now Yangko
also have fruit flavors, such
as strawberry, durian, and
melons. Yangko mostly
found in Kota Gede areas,
Yogyakarta.
SOTO
In Indonesian cuisine, soto
is a traditional soup mainly
composed of broth, meat
and vegetables. Soto is
sometimes considered
Indonesia’s national
dish, as it is served from
Sumatra, Java, to Papua, in
a wide range of variations.
Soto, especially soto
ayam (chicken soto), is an
Indonesian equivalent of
chicken soup. Because
it is always served warm
with a tender texture, it is
considered an Indonesian
comfort food.
