Forming tabs, the boxed pleats extend above the heading, making loops, which will slide onto a decorative rod. This treatment could be a valance, a café curtain, or stationary panels. The panels are best used in a stationary position, otherwise they would need to be dressed in place after moving them and a full length drapery would be difficult to maneuver. It could have a shaped top and bottom or it could be straight. Yardage is figured at 3.00% fullness. 28 CASABEL VALANCE #5940 $25.00 Giving the false appearance of railroaded, or widths of fabric, this treatment is put together in sections. The bells, spaces and returns are all separate pieces sewn together as one. Three different styles included in this pattern. The spaces are approx. 19” wide and the fullness is figured at 300%. ASCOT VALANCE #5941 $20.00 Resembling a neck scarf, these swaging sections hang like teardrops from decorative hardware. Each section could spread from 10” to 14” apart and requires 1 yards. 29 BAYS, BOWS & CORNER WINDOWS A Guidebook of Sketches, Ideas, and Inspiration You will find over 100 sketches of bays, bows and corner windows. These sketches are intended to boost your creativity with ideas to help you design window treatments. You may prefer to repeat the treatments exactly as they are sketched or add your own finishing touches. Using a different side panel, cascade, swag, trim or tie back could change the entire look. Although intended for bays, bows or corners, many of these styles could be altered to work with straight or arched windows. This book will benefit designers, workrooms and installers. 30 A GUIDE TO DECORATING ARCHED WINDOWS WITH OVER 115 DIFFERENT IDEAS This book is to help you design treatments for these more difficult windows. Styles vary from simple to very exquisite. You will find double arched windows, stacked windows that are topped with an arch, as well as the normal single arched window. Not only is this a great tool for designers, it will also help the workroom magically transform plain fabric into wonderful arched window treatments. 31 CORNELIA #5938 $25.00 The fabric hanging loose between the pleats is a very popular style. Style A: Could be a valance or a panel. The pleated section keeps the drooping evenly spaced and enables the panels to traverse. Style B: By omitting the pleated section, it looses its ability to traverse with even spacing. However, it is still a favorite style. The spaces are approx. 7” apart and the fullness is 2.25%. 32 PARASOL VALANCE #5937 $25.00 The look is similar to a partial collapsed parasol. Between the gourd shaped sections, the fabric rolls, forming pleat like shapes. This casual elegant valance does not have gathers or folds at the top and is quick and easy to make. Each section is approx. 11” wide and is easy to adjust. One width of 54” wide fabric will cut two sections. 33 SWAGING CURTAINS #5936 $25.00 Long, deep, graceful folds are formed when this flat curtain is installed on a decorative rod or curtain rod. Use single section or additional sections for wider widths. Swaging curtains are best used in a stationary position and look great as a backdrop behind a bed, at sidelights, or side panels. Each swaging section is one width of fabric and will finish 20” wide. 34 SCALLOPED TAB VALANCE #5935 $25.00 Combining the scalloped finish at the top and bottom, the gathered tabs, and the staggered hem line create a great artistic finish. The tabs form the bell shape. Each section can spread from 15” to 20”. Pushing closer together will create a drooping swag between the bells. Different style tassels, ribbons or rope can be used to hold the gathered tabs in place. Yardage is based on plain 54” wide fabric. Outer sections = 2 per width @ 25” cut length. Center sections = 2 per width @ 20” cut length. Outer tabs = 3 per width @ 36” cut length. Center tabs = 3 per width @ 30” cut length. 35 VICTORIAN LIFTED SWAG #5933 $30.00 Left or right swag is lifted in center. A standard swag could be used to balance the sizing. Combining these swags will render a delightful finish. For a solid fabric, the yardage needed; whether center, side, or standard, will require 1½ yards per swag. 36 BOXED SWAG #5931 $25.00 This treatment does not pull up between the swags, therefore it creates a boxed effect. To enhance the beauty, add jabots, straps or a fluff of fabric between the swags. 37 RENAISSANCE SWAG #5929 $25.00 The swags and returns have jabots that fold, forming the tabs. Each piece is separate and is attached with Velcro, making the width size adjustable. Each section is 28” wide and requires 1½ yards. PICK - UP #5930 $25.00 Pick - up the fabric to form slight bells or box pleat between the swaging sections. This easy to make valance can be cut using railroaded method for seamless finish or cut and seam. One width of 54” fabric will make two 17” swaging section for a total of 34”. 38 WIDE SWAG #5928 $30.00 The Wide Swag will compliment the contemporary style much more than several smaller swags.
