Not iust a film,a graphic novel,an art book, or whatever else this madman genius comes
up with next for Agent 88, but a complete and total hatshit-awesome, blow-your'fuck'
ing-mind transmedia experience.
A romp. Got it?
I've had the sickly sweet pleasure of collaborating with Digger on quite a few projects over
the years, most notably our 2013 zombie animal horror-action book, The Other Dead, as
welt as a few other projects that I can't yet write about on these pages.
And you know what they all have in common with Agent 88?
A killer high concept,crazy imaginative visuals and a wicked sharp sense of humor.A twist'
ed mirror held up to the neon and fluorescent-lit corridors of America and the global
media village.
In other words, they're f ucking amazing pieces of popular art.
Enjoy the romp, kiddies...it's been 88 years in the making.

When you want to chronicle the adventures of an 88-year-old grandmother with
Alzheimer's who iust happens to be the world's deadliest assassin, you have two
options.You could go to the Hollywood studios, hat in hand,asking a producer for
money in exchange for creative control---and at the end of the project, your elderly assassin could wind up a big-busted teenager with a sex tape.(note to self:
not that bad of an idean file away).
0r you could go to the masses. The people who have been waiting for an old
woman to come and kicl< all of our asses. It was only natural that the forum to
f
uel the production was called Kicl<starter.
In a campaign video featuring Digger and William 0'Neill - pulling off a heist with a baby in the car - the campaign kicked off. With Kickstarter, the public
gives money for a chance to see a product or piece of entertainment come to life.
They receive the satisfaction. And the more money they give, they also receive
some swag. Every Kicl<starter has to have swag. Not only merchandisen but swag
in the way the I<ids use it-Swagger.Digger has both.And you are holding a piece
of both in your hands right now.
Tapping into the contacts he earned as the had boy of action figures, DigEer created Minimates based on the characters of Agent 88.Then he and producing partner Jan Utstein reached out to some of the best comic, sci-fi and fantasy artists
in the husiness to offer their takes on the ancient assassin. It was all in the service to create a l<nock-down, drag-out, comic hook-styled weh series the likes the
interwehs have never seen.
Then the fuse was
lit.Thirty
days to earn $88,000 by 8/8 at 8:08pm.
So what happened? Agent 88 built an army,that's what happened.The campaign
raised $L04,701 in 30 days---$50,000 in the final 48 hours-busting the jaw of
the original goal.It was Kickstarter's highest f unded web series pilot-ten times
over. Digger and Jan now had the capital to fund the senile assassin.
0n Thursday, November l, 2OL3 citizens of Los Angeles woke up to find Agent 88
peering out from the front page of the Los Angeles Times-with a jump leading
to a two page spread. Kay D'Arcy, the 79-year old British Nurse who plays the geriatric giantess was featured in the London Times. Television interviews, magazines, blog posts-AEent 88 had crossed over from small web proiect to international phenomenon.
