General’s Model 240 is the first oneman, hand-held hole digger to feature
an all-position, 4 stroke gasoline
engine. Operate on it side hills or store
it on its side without fear of damage or
oil leaking from the crankcase. It also
means no more mixing oil with
gasoline. No more separate fuel cans.
And, no more smoky, exhaust mess
because the Subaru Robin EH035
engine meets the tough, new EPA
emission standards.
The 240 is built with unsurpassed
features that make it the ideal machine
for both homeowner and contractors
alike. Digs up to an 8 inch (203 mm)
diameter hole. Built with oversized ball
bearings, heat treated shafts and
precision, machine cut gears for
extended service life. The 240 Hole
Digger was designed to keep it working
on the jobsite and not in the repair
shop.
The unique Comfort-Zone™ handle was
newly created to specifically help the
operator maintain proper position while
digging. The ergonomics are intended
to maximize strength and reduce body
fatigue, thus increasing productivity
and job site safety. A Magura twist grip
throttle provides exact engine speed
control.
For added flexibility, an optional 3/4
inch capacity, three-jaw drill chuck
attaches directly to the transmission
driveshaft. The chuck allows the 240 to
accept standard masonry, wood and
steel drill bits for even greater
versatility.

Auger construction features alloy steel blade and screw bit for maximum digging performance and versatility in a wide cross
section of soil compositions. Thick, cross-sectioned helicoid auger flighting delivers strength and wear resistance. Flighting
pitch is set to produce cleaner, more usable holes in sandy or granular type soils. All boring head wear parts are field
replaceable.
