A Timely Word for Today - Being a Christian consists of being different “Ships”
Friendship - Relationships and Discipleship.
God will never abandon the SHIP !!!! And if we do, we can get swallowed up by a whale (The Enemy Trap)
and that stinks!! Let’s all remember that as Prime Timers at Crossgates we are all “Ships.”
Mary Easterling- Prime Timer President
Isn’t there a big difference between March and April? In March, we still have a winter mentality and
outlook, don’t we? But when April arrives, our entire attitude changes! Everything seems bright and
cheerful. Still, April also brings a lot of spring rain. We don’t really mind the rain. We often turn to each
other and say, “April showers bring May flowers.” This expression has been around a long time. It can be
found in a poem dated 1610. In 1920, Leo Wood and Nat and Jack Shilkret wrote a poem which then set to
music. This song popularized the expression.
1. When the whole world seems so drear, and above dark clouds appear, And your heart seems filled with fear,
don’t feel sad and blue; Think how nice it soon will be, when the sun shines cheerfully, Try it and I know you’ll see
what I say is true!
Chorus
April showers bring May flowers and sweet bowers, where roses twine;
Now I know too, I can show you, that it’s so true all the time,
If the sunshine came at one time, all the fun time would soon be through;
April showers bring May flowers, so just wait ‘till love comes to you.
2. Happiness was meant for you, seek it and you’ll find it, too, Then your life will start anew, wonderful ‘twill be;
Sorrow was not meant to stay just to come and go away; Tho’ it finds us all someday, still you’ll surely see (Chorus)
These are wonderful thoughts to cheer us up, when showers come our way! ——-Timothy Merrill

We have a VERY SPECIAL program planned for our
catered dinner on Tuesday, May 10 beginning at 5:30 pm.
You have been hearing about the Mexico Outreach Mission
from Gloria Williams for the past couple of months. Now, we
are going to hear from the founder of this Mission,
Armand Lombardo. Many of you know Armand and his wife
Janet. They have been very active in this church for many
years.
I had the privilege of traveling with a team to Mexico
several years ago to pray over the land where they had
hoped to build the present mission in Parras, Mexico. I am
so excited to be able to hear about how the Lord has met the
needs to build this mission. Gloria will be sharing more about
how you are being so faithful to sponsor them this quarter.
Many of you, perhaps, have been a part of going and
building the structure.
Invite your friends to come and hear all about how the
Lord has provided......under extreme circumstances! God is
faithful!!——- Betty Stafford, Program Chair
Travel Notes by Nedra Lovelace
On Friday, March 4th, 34 members of Prime Timers made
our way by bus to Lucedale, MS to visit Palestine Gardens, a
replica of the Holy Land. In 1960, the late Reverend Walter
Harvell Jackson built a scale model of the Holy Land and
named it Palestine Gardens. Don Bradley, the current
director, led us on an hour walking tour of the gardens. We
began by crossing the Jordan River past the ruins of Joshua's
Jericho to see the New Testament Jericho. We continued the
tour to visit Bethlehem and Jerusalem and the villages of
Samaria & Galilee. Don told many stories of the Bible during
the tour. We concluded our tour sitting by the River Jordan and
taking the Lord's Supper led by Bill Ratcliff.
We had a great lunch at Rocky Creek Catfish Cottage in
Lucedale. Everyone is still bragging about the great fish and
hush puppies. Our trip home was nap time! During the trip
Linda Thompson challenged the group with several games.
Prizes were won by Judy Ratcliff, Robin Johnson, Elizabeth
Holman, and Nedra Lovelace. Linda, thanks for another great
trip, keep up the good work. We are looking forward to the
next trip. Don't miss it!

What is True Forgiveness?
We are well into our last quarter of our
2015-2016 year. Our mission project is the
Mexico Outreach Center headed up by
Crossgates own Armand and Janet Lombardo.
We want to bless this ministry financially and
also join them for a Senior Mission trip August
20-27. Many Of the CBC family have been on
the Parras, Mexico mission trips and have
spread the love of Christ to the people there.
Now we have two opportunities to be a part.
Gloria Williams-Missions Coordinator
In Free to Forgive (Lifeway Press), Robert Jeffress
suggests the reason we often hold onto unforgiveness is
we have flawed ideas about what forgiveness is. He
offers these insights:
1. True Forgiveness admits someone has wronged
you. It doesn’t gloss over the offense.
2. True Forgiveness acknowledges a debt exists. The
debt may be so great it could never be repaid.
3. True Forgiveness releases the offender of his or her
obligation.
4. True Forgiveness waits for the right time to
confront the offender
5. True Forgiveness resists unnecessary
embarrassment It doesn’t retaliate.
6. True Forgiveness relieves people of unhealthy
sorrow and pain.
7. True forgiveness continually releases the offender
of an obligation.

anti-inflammatory properties.
2. Boosts immunity-Coconut oil has strong antiviral,
antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial properties
that enhance the immune system
3. Maintains bone structure– Coconut oil could
assist in preventing bone loss as well as
osteoporosis risk.
4. Treats Alzheimer’s disease-Some studies indicate

excellent skin moisturizer
2. Homemade Toothpaste – mix equal parts with
baking soda

upon waking. Spit the oil in the trash not the sink.
It is supposed to detoxify your mouth and improve
oral health.
4. Insect repellent- A tablespoon of Coconut oil
combined with essential oils such as peppermint,
rosemary or tea tree can help keep insects away.

Feet Have a Way of Doing
That
Our 7- year-old grandson,
Drew has been experiencing
speech therapy for quite some
time. He’s very talkative-in fact,
I do believe the only time he’s
quiet is when he’s sleeping.
Recently, he almost tripped
over his flip flops. He told his
mom,” I would have come
sooner, but my feet stuttered.”

Thirty years in the making, Audacious is a deep dive
into the message that has compelled Beth Moore
to serve women around the globe. Glancing over
the years of ministry behind her and strengthening
her resolve to the call before her, she came to the
realization that her vision for women was
incomplete. It lacked something they were aching
for. Something Jesus was longing for. Beth
identifies that missing link by digging through
Scripture, unearthing life experiences, and
spotlighting a turning point with the capacity to
infuse any life with holy passion and purpose. What
was missing? Well, let's just say, it's audacious and
it's for all of us. And it's the path to the life you
were born to live.
How Rude!
One day I was baby-sitting my
3-year-old granddaughter,
Samantha. We were walking in
the backyard and came upon a
small turtle. I touched him, and
he drew his head back into his
shell. Later that day, Samantha
was talking about the turtle.
She said, “That turtle just went
in his house and shut the door!”

Just the Write Touch By Renee Hill Carter
Express yourself with pen and paper.
I have reflected on a time of laughter generated
by passing notes in church with my sisters and my
cousins as kids. My mother’s stern glare from the
choir seemed to suggest a better use of our time
than the giggles and handwritten notes we shared
that took precedence over listening to the sermons.
Communication, whether verbal (talking face to
face) or handwritten (pen and paper), was once the
primary means of conveying thoughts.
There is something refreshing about putting our
thoughts and sentiments into words on paper and
then sharing those words. Consider reaching out
to someone the old-fashioned way. Write friends
or relatives who haven’t heard from you lately.
Written words create; they can be life giving.
Our Lord said, “The words that I have spoken to
you are spirit and life.” (John 6:63). So that we can
constantly hear from God, He penned a personal
note to us. The Bible is at our disposal to touch
our lives at just the right time.
Have you written a personalized note back to
God? I wrote one and I am passing it to you with a
smile. I hope these words revitalize your spirit.

-Live in the Present.
Anytime you obsess about
the past or anxious about
the future you miss the
opportunity of the moment.
-Learn to Distinguish
between distractions
and priorities Ask “will

-Listen to your body– If
you feel overwhelmed or
fatigued, ask yourself why?
Peace is the result of
cultivating an intimate
relationship with the Lord,
listening carefully for His

Him.
-Let go of anger. Learn
