Thursday, November 12th was GiveMN.org’s
“Give to the Max Day.” As part of the annual fundraising day, local schools participated
in a lip sync contest at the Mall of America
to compete for a chance to win $500. Mr.
Macken and CMS students performed to
“Geronimo.”
Thank you to Mrs. Tangren and
Mrs. Andrews for choreographing the routine and a big thank-you to the students and
Mr. Macken for performing!
Our school received $200 for their efforts!
A special thank-you to Marjorie
Wood, the local community
member who helped us win the
$20,000 “Golden Ticket”
through GiveMN.org last year.
We look forward to sharing the
impacts of Marjorie’s generosity
with her at an upcoming celebration hosted in our renovated
learning commons.
A special thank-you to
Superintendent Dietz for
taking the time to join us at the
competition!
One of the after-school clubs at CMS is Youth As Resources. Students volunteer
throughout the local community as part of this club. The following photos were
taken at Lino Lakes Assisted Living Center where students volunteered their
time recently:

NO SCHOOL
In our community there are many families in need of
extra support. It is so important to give back to the
community and help others, and who can think of a
better time to do so than before Thanksgiving!
November 23rd through November 25th the Promise
Fellows’ students will be collecting non-perishable
food items. These will be donated to the Powerpack
program and a local food shelf. The Powerpack Program is in need of specific items. They could really use
single-serve microwavable items, such as individual
macaroni and cheese, Hormel Compleats, Chef Boyardee, single-serve cereals, oatmeal, and shelf stable
milk. We will be donating these specific items to the
Powerpack program. We will also be accepting all other types of non-perishable foods, which will be donated
to the food shelf.
There will be drop-off boxes in the front office and the
cafeteria. Students can bring food to those points at any
time of the day during November 23rd-25th, or they
can bring it to the Promise Fellows room, #G106.
Thank you!
