The South Lawn Village Visit the encampments and learn about daily life in medieval Europe! The Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) and the Knights of Avalon present educational demonstrations of combat, music, dance, and the arts. New this year! The SCA invites you to join them for classes in calligraphy and finger loop braiding. Demonstrations in metalworking, cooking, and youth combat. Bring the children to participate in making medieval dressed paper dolls. See them hold court with their new Viceroy and Vicereine. Sit in on their first fashion show. The Knights of Avalon teach about the age of chivalry and invite children to participate as junior knight’s and take the junior knights oath. Performing through-out the day, roadside past the Centercheap Market North stage The Sir Stan Michels Tournament Field of Honour At the Fort Tryon Park Medieval Festival the USA Knights will host the Armored Combat League Eastern Conference Championship Tourney. This tournament will attract knights and fighters from all across North America to test their mettle in true competition with steel weapons and full armor in the style of the knights of old. This is fully competitive fighting of an intensity you have never seen before, as valiant warriors clash in singles matches and team battles! Afterwards, meet with the knights and find out how they train, what kind of armor they use, and what fighting in armor is really like! Also at the tournament field, join Robin Hood and his merry men as they fight the Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchmen.
