Auction Rules
General Policy
Lakeview Ministries’ Auction Committee makes its best effort to verify that all items are genuine, but makes no
representations with respect thereto and is not responsible for any warranties expressed or implied with respect to items
purchased. The successful bidder agrees to the above and further agrees to only look to the donor for the satisfaction of
said warranties. Thank you for supporting Lakeview Ministries!
General Rules
1. The item for which you have been the successful bidder is donated. There will be absolutely no exchanges or
refunds unless specifically stated.
2. Failure for whatever cause to arrange for the trip, meal, party, etc. within the time limit and according to the specific
conditions imposes absolutely no obligation on the donor or Lakeview Ministries for a refund.
3. All items of this auction are sold on an “as is” or “where is” basis. No warranties are expressed or implied.
4. All auction items must be removed on Saturday evening. The camp is not responsible for items left after this time.
5. Camp Lakeview will deliver larger purchases to buyers in the Seymour, Columbus, or Indianapolis areas. These
deliveries will be at the convenience of the Lakeview Ministries staff and will occur no later than November 30 th.
6. If you are the successful bidder on an item, volunteers will bring the winning bid sheet to your table to inform you.
7. When you are ready to pay, bring all your winning bid sheets to the Cashier’s table for payment. All payments must
be made in full during the evening by cash, check, Discover, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Payment for
Oral and Silent Auction items may be made together.
8. After payment is made, the successful bidder should take the white receipt marked “PAID” to the respective booth
worker who will retrieve the item for you. The buyer will endorse the receipt upon retrieval of the item purchased by
signing the pink copy located at the booth.
Special Oral Auction Rule
You must have a bid paddle to make a bid during the oral auction. The successful bidder will hold up his/her bid paddle
showing the number to the auctioneer.
Special Silent Auction Rules
1. Persons desiring to bid may do so as many times as they wish on each item by writing the bid paddle number and
new amount below the previous bidder on the bid sheet. A valid bid consists of a bidder number and a whole dollar
amount. No name is necessary.
2. Be considerate. Please do not block others from bidding.
3. When the siren blares to close a silent booth, all bidding must stop immediately. This will not necessarily occur at
the exact time listed in the auction program.
4. Please do not go home while you are still the highest bidder on a silent auction item at an open booth.
NOTE: The Camp Lakeview Auction Committee is deeply appreciative of your willingness to support Camp
Lakeview by your attendance. For your tax purposes, we would like to alert you to the following IRS regulation. As
prescribed by IRS Code, Section 170 and regulations, an admission charge, which includes consideration of goods
and services to the donor, is only deductible to the extent that the donor contribution exceeds the fair market value
of any goods and services received. Therefore, for IRS purposes, the meal and entertainment value of the evening
is $40 per person. Any amount above $40 that you paid for admittance can be considered a donation. Also for
IRS purposes, any amount paid for an item above its fair market value can be considered a donation.

2014 CAMP LAKEVIEW DINNER AUCTION
Meet the Newest Addition to the
Lakeview Ministries Staff
As Lakeview Ministries has continued to grow over the past year, we have
found it necessary to bring on another full time staff member. This position
will complete our new governance structure by giving us a second program
director that will focus on the summer program at the Camp Lakeview
facility. Our hiring committee, after considering many highly qualified
applicants, offered the position to Ellie Lutz. Ellie will start her new position
at the beginning of the year. We look forward to welcoming Ellie to our
Ministry and are excited to see God work through her in this new position.
Read Ellie’s biography below and make sure to welcome her to our ministry
when you get the chance.
Ellie “Frisbee” Lutz
Camp Lakeview Program Director
“My name is Ellie "Frisbee" Lutz. I hail from Eau Claire, WI where I graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a
degree in Secondary Education. The summer after my senior year, almost on a whim, I decided to serve as a
summer camp counselor. I fell absolutely in love with outdoor ministry, and it has been my passion ever
since. I spent two years as a Program Assistant at Camp Luther in northern Wisconsin, and most recently
served in a shared-ministry position at Camp Perkins and Trinity Lutheran Church in Idaho. In my spare time I
enjoy reading, playing my guitar, and eating delicious ice cream. My camp nickname comes from a strong
love for the game of disc golf. I am extremely excited to join the team at Lakeview and become a part of the
ministry it provides to so many. God is faithful and God is good, and I love getting to share that with every
person who passes my way.” — Ellie
The Polar Slide— 2014
This year the summer staff is going to do a special event to raise
money for the ministry of Lakeview. They are collecting pledges in
order to encourage themselves to take the Polar Slide. This will
entail a ride down the Camp Lakeview slip-n-slide during their staff
reunion which will take place on December 20th. Even some of the
full time staff will be taking part in this event. We have placed
containers in the room for each individual participating, feel free to
encourage them by placing money in their jars.
Lakeview Laborers
As our Ministry continues to expand and grow we are always in
need of volunteers that are willing to come and share their time
and talents with Camp. We will be starting up a new program to
organize these individuals. It will give people the chance to come to
camp and assist in areas such as: program needs like archery,
horseback riding, harnessing for the zip line and climbing tower;
maintenance needs such as mowing, painting, cleaning, and general
repairs; and many other areas of our ministry. Please continue to
pray for camp and consider how you may be able to serve our
ministry by volunteering at camp. We will be sending out
information on this new program in the spring. We look forward to
your involvement with the day to day ministry of Lakeview.

2014 CAMP LAKEVIEW DINNER AUCTION
Special Donation
At 8:15, we will briefly suspend the oral auction for a special fund-raising effort.
This year’s special donation item will raise funds for a different kind of need than those addressed at past auctions. In
previous years, this item gathered money dedicated to capital projects such as the cabins, waterfront dock, bath house
expansion, and cabin air conditioning units. These projects all addressed needs that the campers had pointed out in
the evaluations at the end of their camping sessions. This year the campers identified no major issues. In fact, camper
evaluations rated this year as the second-highest ranked summer for overall satisfaction since 1997, when these evaluations were first used. Thank you for your donations in the past which have allowed Camp to address these needs. It
has made a significant difference.
Tonight, however, we are asking you to contribute specifically to the heart and soul of Lakeview’s ministry—the summer staff. These college-aged kids are the face of camp; they are the ones who teach, play with, encourage and inspire
the campers. We are proud to support a quality staff year after year. Forty young adults are hired each summer to
operate our programs. This year, our staff was pushed to the limit as more and more groups came to camp. It is now
normal to have six to eight different groups on camp each weekend, with many groups also visiting mid-week. It is
wonderful to see camp being used by so many people.
During the summer, the summer staff is available to assist with all of these groups. In the fall though, it is often necessary to bring back 6-10 summer staff members to help with program and cooking responsibilities during the busy weekend schedule. This points to Camp’s biggest need right now: additional staffing in order to meet all of our guests’
needs.
In general, annual contributions cover 25% of summer staff salaries. The remainder is paid with money received from
summer campers’ registration fees. Our goal tonight is to supplement current contributions so that 50% of summer
staff salaries will be met before collecting camper fees. A donation of $750 per staff member will accomplish this goal,
making the total needed for the complete staff $30,000. Reaching this goal tonight will allow us to dedicate additional
funds to bringing in new staff during our busiest times of year.
Your donation will help ensure that Camp has a summer staff that is of the highest quality, and at the same time, allow
for the hiring of additional staff to meet guests’ needs more efficiently. The ultimate goal is to continue to provide the
quality Christian camping experience that our guests have come to expect. Through your donations this evening you
can be an integral part in the continued quality of that experience. Thank you.
At this time our auctioneer will be accepting donations instead of bids. We will seek bidders starting at the $1,000 level,
then work our way down to $750, $500, $250, $100, $50, and $25.
