The Worship and Fellowship Committee
met Friday, October 10th in the Academy. We
are in the process of finalizing plans to honor
our Mothers and Father of Faith on Sunday,
November 2nd. There will be a time in our
worship service when we will recognize all
those who have reached the age of 80 years.
Randy Stear will be our supply pastor for the
morning and Bobbi Blinn will add her gift of
music to the service. We will also continue the
celebration as we gather in the Academy for our
covered-dish Thanksgiving dinner.
The committee is also looking at plans
for the Advent and Christmas season. Joyce
Jamison, as choir director, is working with
teachers, parents, and the chancel choir in
preparing for a Christmas program in
December. The sanctuary will be decorated, the
Advent wreath will be in place, and the
traditional poinsettia tree will be displayed.
A variety of supply pastors will be filling
our pulpit during November and December.
Some of them include Roger Snyder, Randy
Stear, Dale Smith, Sheila Wadding, and Nick
Hudak and his family. The committee also
prepared a list of recommended dates to serve
Communion during 2015 and presented this to
Session.
Please join us for a reception on January
th
4 immediately following worship to welcome
Sheila Wadding as she begins her ministry at
our church.
As we enter a season of thankfulness and
joy, may we look forward expecting great
things to happen at Dayton Glade Run. We are
blessed!
Women’s Association by Betty Lightner
Thirteen ladies met in the Academy on
Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 at 1 p.m.
Vice-Moderator Dora Dickerson opened
meeting with prayer and together we all sang
the hymn, “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”.
Devotions included scripture from John 3: v.
22-36, an article from Our Daily Bread Booklet
and closed with prayer.
Prayer Book included special concerns
and prayers for Romania and scripture from
Luke 13: v. 1-9.
Least Coin Offering in the amount of
$9.02 was collected with prayer, that God
knows what direction our pennies will be going
to best help where needed.
Our program today was “Sharing”, and
each of us shared poems, readings, story of the
sugar maple leaf, family pictures, favorite
sayings inside Snapple lids, jokes and important
family announcements.
Our hostess had the blessing and served
God’s Glory Jello, which consisted of 4 layers.
Pink for Spring, Green for Summer, Red for
Fall and Cool Whip on top for the Snow in
Winter.
Received and read three thank you’s and
sent two thank you’s. Two get well cards were
also sent. Secretary and treasurer reports were
given and accepted as read.
A report from the Fall Gathering, which
2 of our members attended on October 7th, was
reported to be a great day. The theme was
“Rejoice and Be Glad”. They attended the
“Sewing Workshop”, a “Bible Study” and the
third was “Rejoice and Have Fun”, which
proved to be lots and lots of fun. The Least
Coin, Thank Offering and Hunger monies were
dedicated.
Presbytery meeting here on Saturday,
November 8th, beginning at 10 a.m.
November 9th – Thank Offering service here
with Sheila Wadding as our speaker.
November 14th - Annual Book & Bake Sale at
St. Andrew’s Village.
In the past each Church has provided gifts for 2
residents and also items for Christmas stockings
at St. Andrew’s Village. This year each Church
has been ask to donate money and someone
from St. Andrew’s will do the shopping and
purchase all the items needed and to insure that
each resident gets items that are appropriate to
their individual needs.
After discussion, it was decided to
donate $20.00 for each of 2 residents at St.
Andrew’s Village for Christmas gifts and
donate $50.00 for items to be put in 5 of the
Christmas stockings.
Meeting adjourned at 3 p.m. with
Missionary Doxology. We will gather on
December 4th at 1 p.m. when we will be
packing Christmas “goodie” bags only.
There will be no meeting then.
Youth Group by Holly Fusaro
The Youth Group met on October 19th at
4 p.m. at the Academy. The mission for this
meeting was Road Clean-up. The troops came
out and like a well oiled machine got the roads
cleaned up in no time flat. Thanks to all who
attended: Connie, Kevin, Trent and Brooke;
Heather, Ryan, Kyler, Jaedyn and Ty; Denise
and Sofia; Ed and Gillian; Dona Crytzer, Bob,
Holly, Olivia, Sophie, and Mattie. Afterwards
we dined on Chicken Noodle Soup, Taco Soup,
bread and butter, and some chips & dip. Also a
delicious apple pie tart. Thanks to my sister,
Laurie, for preparing the chicken noodle soup
and apple tart – both were scrumptious!
The youth group get together in
November was held on Saturday November 15
at 2:30. A group of adults and youth assembled
together and carpooled to Walmart in Punsxy to
pick out some Christmas items for our friends at
Back to Basics and our other local nursing
homes. A special "thanks" to Matt Nimerosky
for getting us a good deal at Walmart. Also
thanks to Heather, Connie, Matt and Penny for
assisting in our shopping day. The kids split up,
each with a list and did a nice job of picking
items for each resident. Thanks to Emma, Cody,
Ryan, Kyler, Jaedyn, Sophie, Mattie, Megan,
Brooke, for attending, also Maggie Hawkins, a
friend of Mattie/Sophie.
Once we returned to the Academy, we made
a few special crafts and wrapped our gifts.
Thanks to Missy, for organizing a craft that the
kids have put alot of time into over the past few
weeks. It was a nice kickoff to the holiday
season and is always heartwarming to see the
kids pick special gifts.
In December we plan to deliver our packages
and spread some Christmas cheer after the
program and party on December the 7th.
Anyone who would like to join us is more than
welcome.
The youth group would like to wish everyone
a VERY Merry Christmas and a wonderful
2015!
TRUNK OR TREAT by Missy Lightner
On Sunday, November 2, during the
Mothers and Fathers of Faith luncheon, Connie
had guessing games for everyone in the
Academy vestibule, and at 1:30 we had our first
Trunk or Treat in the parking lot. We had 11
kids (all dressed up) going from car to car, and
there were 17 stops (plus 3 more people donated
candy but stayed behind to help clean up
following the dinner). Several of the trunks
were decorated, and people sat in their hatches
or stood by and greeted the kids. One even sat
on a tailgate and handed out candy. The sun
came out, and it was a beautiful day. What an
amazing congregation we have that so many
helped make Trunk or Treat such a success.
God bless you all, and THANK YOU!!
could do it the quickest. The team with Bob,
Holly, Amber and Ed won with 41 seconds.
The kids made popcorn, and we had our movie,
"Moms Night Out." We laughed so hard, but it
was very inspirational, too. Thank you to all
who came out and made it such a fun night!
There will be NO movie night for December.
FRIGHT NIGHT
by Missy Lightner
On Friday, Oct. 31 - Halloween - we
took a bus and youth group members and
friends (29 of us braved it) to Fright Night at
Kennywood. It misted and/or drizzled slightly
on and off all evening, and it was chilly, but the
best part was NO LINES! There were times the
kids could ride and pick their seat. It was a
great evening, but because of being damp and
cold, by 11:30 everyone was okay with leaving
to go home. Thank you to all the kids that went
(it was a very good bunch), and also Bob and
Holly for keeping track of everyone.
The Marshall House Christmas Open House
will be December 6 & 7th at 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The theme this year is Merry Beary
Christmas featuring Teddy Bears, Smokey
Bear, Care Bears, and more for a bear
galore.
December Birthdays
Movie Night by Missy Lightner
On Saturday, November 15th,
following youth group, we had our movie night.
We had 24 for dinner (21 for the movie) and
lots of good food and fellowship. For our
game, teams of four had to wear glasses so they
couldn't see and were given scrambled letters to
words. I gave them clues and they had to come
up with the word and put it in order. Each team
had four words, and we timed them to see who

contents will be great to have while I’m studying

my friends at Dayton Glade Run have me in their
