H
oly Vidalia! Judges have crowned Preserving Place’s own Sweet Onion Confit
as a winner in the 2014 University of Georgia
Flavor of Georgia Food Product Contest. The
customer favorite beat out two other finalists
in the condiments category, and was the only
winner based out of the city of Atlanta.
“Confit” is the past participle of “confire,” a
French word aptly meaning “to preserve.”
Confits are cooked in fat for a long time at a
low temperature and, as such, represent the
very essence of the kind of cooking that the
crew at Preserving Place lives to pass along

SUNDOWN SERIES
S
ave the date for Wednesday, April 30th
when WSPD, in partnership with the
Atlanta Film Festival, kicks off its Sundown
Series celebrating art, music, food, and film.
Held April through July on the last Wednesday
of the month, each Sundown Series event will
begin at 5pm with pop-up galleries, shops,
and more. Then, from 6-ish to 8-ish, enjoy
live music on the corner near Yeah! Burger,
followed by a film at sundown in the alley
across from lululemon (chairs provided). The
Sundown Series is best enjoyed with a takeaway dinner from one of WSPD’s many yummy
restaurants. Call ahead or stroll in to place
your order, and our restaurants will be happy
