INTRODUCTION
It is with great joy that greetings are tendered to you in the Name that is above every name:
Jesus Christ!
Special thanks, once again, to our esteemed leader, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.,
for seeing fit to appoint this writer to this great task, of leading the Department of
Evangelism. This has been an awesome privilege, to help fulfill the Great Commission that
our Lord assigned to His Church!
Also, much appreciation to the members of the General Board for confirming this selection.
Because of your commitment to “soul winning,” we are seeing a tremendous amount of
individuals give their lives to Jesus! And, to all members of the General Assembly which
ratified this appointment, we are ever so grateful.
Our general theme for the Church Of God In Christ for 2014 was “We Are Called to Minister
and Witness to A Deeply Distressed and Troubled World.” The following summary will
reflect that not only was our world troubled; but also we witnessed and ministered
effectively.
Enclosed in these few pages is a summary of activities the last few months of 2014; so that
you may stay abreast of what YOUR Department of Evangelism is doing to advance the
Kingdom! May you be abundantly blessed!
Every time I turn around,
Dr. Elijah H. Hankerson III

FINANCES
Since this report is going out to the public, beyond the borders of the Church Of God
In Christ, wisdom dictates that a full financial report not be disclosed in this publication.
However, the office of treasurer, as well as the national finance department has full financial
information, regarding the department.
Let it suffice to say that the department has consistently raised six-figures every year
of this administration. Our goal, however, is seven figures. This publication will show that
the vision and the work is vast and it takes great financial commitment to bring the vision to
fruition.
Our finances are handled with the utmost of integrity. Every month the books of the
department are reconciled with the bank records and also the national finance department
records. The books for the month cannot be closed until every penny lines up.
The department staff and general public in providing financing for the work of
Evangelism! Much appreciation to the team for not only laboring, but also being faithful to
support the work financially. Also, this President has been blessed to personally contribute
over $23,000 in finances to the department.
The department consistently handles all of its financial obligations to the International
AIM Convention. We generously support the national church through the efforts of the (1)
COGIC Charities Dinner (2) providing our share of proceeds towards the efforts of the
International Holy Convocation and (3) also in 2014 The International Department of
Evangelism has paid in full its pledge toward the rehabilitation of our property in Memphis,
and added an additional seed toward the project.
Our books are balanced, our bills are paid, we have money in the bank and most of all
the work of Evangelism, soul winning and building the kingdom of God is financed!

2014 SPECIAL PROJECTS
FALL HARVEST DAY
PURPOSE: The purpose of FALL SOUL HARVEST DAY
was to unite the Church of God In Christ worldwide in soulwinning efforts. Thousands of Saints in over 12,000 churches,
in more than 60 countries, won souls for God’s kingdom at the
same time, on a Saturday, from 10am to 12 noon. Saints
worldwide were inspired to continue monthly evangelist efforts.
APPROACH:
1. Evangelize your church neighborhood and involve your
entire congregation.
2. During Soul Harvest Day, invite souls to your Sunday
service for a special Family and Friend’s Day.
Fall Harvest Day 2014
3. Motivate your congregation by offering a special award for the “Soul Winner of the
Day”.
4. Record how many souls received Christ.
5. Congregations are asked that if they have prior commitments on event date, please
select another date.
6. Participants will receive a training manual and information on soul winning
tools/techniques such as….
• Street Witnessing
• Door to Door
• Hospital & Nursing Home Visitation
• Prison Ministry
Project Goal: TO FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION…. If 200 jurisdictions participate
and see at least 50 souls saved apiece, we can see 10,000 souls saved in two hours!!! The
Great Commission is contained in the following Scriptures:
Luke 14:23 – And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and
compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto
me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the
world. God has commissioned us to be fruit bearers. Mt. 3:10 – And now also the axe is laid

unto the root of the trees; therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn
down, and cast into the fire.
Matthew 9:37-38 - Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers
into his harvest.
Prov. 11:30 – The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
COGIC INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT OF EVANGELISM REPORT
FERGUSON, MISSOURI CRISIS 2014
Once the recent tragic events occurred in Ferguson,
Missouri; Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., of the
Church Of God In Christ (COGIC), commissioned the
International Department of Evangelism to proceed into the
area to (1) share the Good News of Jesus Christ and (2)
witness to lost souls!
The department tenaciously remained out of discussions
Souls listening intently to the word of God!
regarding “the incident” and refrained from sharing opinions
from any viewpoint. The aim was strictly to share the
message that, “to the utmost Jesus saves!” All three jurisdictional bishops in the area
were 100% supportive: General Board member Bishop L. M. Wooten (Missouri Eastern,
Western Illinois), Bishop R. J. Ward (Missouri Eastern First) and Bishop W. L. Scott
(Illinois Southeast).
Since “the incident” hundreds of souls gave their lives to the
Lord Jesus and 17,000 Gospel tracts were disseminated to the
public! Both the law enforcement and the general public were
very respectful to the saints. They took time to listen and
hundreds of people (including police officers) received prayer.
The saints have dodged bullets, inhaled
tear gas, ministered through a sudden
thunder storm and walked for miles every night; all for the sake of
lost souls!
The world famous Glory Train!
One of the exciting elements of the evangelistic efforts was the
“Glory Train.” The Glory Train is an 18 wheeler flatbed with a
Lady Shirley Wooten
trailer. The saints ride on the flatbed and the “live band” is on the
trailer. It is literally a “mobile revival!” This clever soul winning tool is the brainchild of
our Coordinator of Special Projects for IDOE: Lady Shirley Wooten. Lady Wooten is
the wife of Bishop L. M. Wooten.

The Glory Train was allowed to go right up to “Ground Zero” (the gas station that was
burned down, when the rioting first began) where the saints sang, preached, shouted,
danced and witnessed to the lost. People literally ran from everywhere to hear the Gospel
of Jesus Christ!
The International Department of Evangelism will continue to be relentless, in the area of
soul winning, for the people of this distressed community.
Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., was in the city of St. Louis on Friday, September
26, 2014 at Life Center International COGIC. He delivered a message of salvation, hope
and restoration. The Presiding Bishop ensured that the Church Of God In Christ
ministered to this “deeply distressed and troubled” community!

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS
For the first time in this administration, the International Department
of Evangelism truly went international. In August of 2014 the
department featured a crusade in Nassau, The Bahamas; in conjunction
with the 60th Holy Convocation of the Bahamian jurisdiction. The
feature and historical highlight of this meeting was the preaching of
our Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle: Bishop Charles Edward
Blake, Sr. Many souls were saved and blessed! Bishop E. Charles

The International Department of Evangelism teamed up with Presiding
Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., and the West Angeles COGIC to provide a
soul saving crusade and missions outreach to the nation of Jamaica. The
altar was flooded nightly with seekers. The people were blessed, as nightly
our evangelists ministered God's Word.

This featured ministry of the department has provided training and
ministry opportunities for ministry gifts 49 and under. This has been
a banner year for this ministry. (A new division called 'Preacherama'
has been established under Elder Chris Hooker; providing guidance
to young preachers to ensure that they are preaching the Gospel and
are equipped to minister deliverance to the bound.) NexGen classes
have been both productive and informative. Elder Aaron Robbins,

REVIVAL FIRES
This has always been one of our more popular ministries.
This is the late night setting, following the main worship
services of the AIM Convention and the Holy
Convocation. However, 2014 saw
exponential growth like never before.
In Convocation we literally ran out of
spaces. The services have been rich,
Spirit filled and Word filled. There is a
great team that works closely with
coordinator, International Assistant
Elect Lady Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole to ensure that this ministry offers and
anointed spiritual experience.

JAIL MINISTRY
Under the auspices of coordinator, Mother Anita Dixon, we have not
forgotten those behind prison walls. Jail ministry occurs during both

ALTAR MINISTRY
Supt. Albert Clark
Team Leader: Altar Workers
Our altar ministry is becoming more streamlined, efficient and
excellent. Sexual harassment training and background checks have
become the norm. Team Leader Albert
Clark, Sr. and Mother Sarah Smith
provide training throughout the year.
Not only has the badge system been
continued, but also color coordination
has been introduced to ensure that
seekers are being prayed for by certified
altar workers.

YMCA MINISTRY
Through Evangelist Yvonne Martin, every year during Holy
Convocation, the seniors at the largest YMCA (Monsanto) in St.
Louis experience the love of Jesus Christ. The evangelists read to
the seniors and allow the elderly to have someone to talk to. Bro.

the America’s Center in St Louis for the International Holy
Convocation. The Prayer Walk is always the Saturday prior to the

POINT PERSONS
The endeavor of this administration has been to set up a team, committed to the vision of
world evangelism, that will help to manage the department so that we can be more efficient.
Empowering other people to utilize their gifts has been our strength. With this in mind our
goal has been to provide 'point persons' to manage Evangelism activities at all major COGIC
conventions. This has been a God-send to the department. The appointed individuals have
done a splendid job at their tasks. Those appointed thus far have been:
1. Vice President Clarence Sellers: point person
for AIM.

2015 PLANS
SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI
Crusade kicking
off IDOE reaching
the St. Louis area
In light of the recent tragic events in St. Louis, with the death of Michael
Brown and its aftermath, the International Department of Evangelism has
launched a massive effort to place a Gospel tract in EVERY HOME in St.
Louis, Missouri (315,000 homes) and right across the river in East St.
Louis, IL (25,000 homes); for a grand total of 340,000 homes receiving the
Gospel of Jesus Christ!!!! This will be accomplished over a two year
period: 2015-2016. Elder Cornelius Moore and Dr. T. Marie Brown,
coordinators.
CLEVELAND, OHIO
In Cleveland, Ohio in 2014 a twelve year old child was tragically shot and subsequently died.
This has placed the community at large on edge. The International Department of Evangelism
was right there to offer the community hope, through the saving message of Jesus Christ.
Regional President Bishop Emmitt Nevells and Regional Elect Lady Bobbie Jean Lott,
regional leaders; Pastor Ron Roy, Coordinator.
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA
The tragic death of Michael Brown, in 2014 in St. Louis, Missouri, has had major
repercussions across the United States. One such place that this unfortunate situation has
affected is the city of Oakland, California. There has been rioting and looting. The
International Department of Evangelism is right there; providing the saving message of Jesus
Christ! Regional President Samuel Bobo and Regional Elect Lady Kassondra Moreland,
coordinators.
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
The death of Eric Garner, has led to tension and protests in 'The Big Apple.' The International
Department of Evangelism's goal is to provide the saving message of Jesus Christ, as our
nation's largest city works its way through this tragedy. Regional President Amos Kemper
and Regional Elect Lady, coordinators.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Sadly, the 'Windy City' experienced over 400 homicides in 2014. The city has witnessed so
much violence that the community has compared it to the war in Iraq, referring to Chicago as
'Chi-raq.' Evangelism has not sat idly by. In the Spring of 2015 the department will launch
evangelistic efforts, sharing with the community that Jesus is the answer! Regional President
Milton Oliver and Regional Elect Lady Diane North, coordinators.
50 and Over GENERATION
NexGen has done a tremendous job to
minister to our evangelists who are 49 and
under. However, it is on our heart to not
forget those evangelists that are 50 and over.
Prophet Al Jones of Virginia has accepted
the task to provide an outlet of support for
our seasoned evangelists.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
1. Having our jurisdictions to appoint individuals that can manage their respective
departments. Often individuals are tremendous preachers and/or soul winners but lack the
skill to administrate or develop and manage a team. Our task is to continue to train our
leadership in the area of administration and team building.
2. Lack of consistent soul winning material. Our churches often either buy generic tracts or
produce their own. This lends to an inconsistent message. We are working with the Public
Relations Department and ultimately the publishing house to develop and make available a
line of COGIC tracts; so that we have the same message going out across the globe.
3. Follow up. While it is exhilarating to see large numbers of souls come to Christ, it also can
be frustrating to figure out how to “close the back door” and lead those souls into discipleship
and stable church membership. Our strategy is to improve on our “follow up ministry” which
will teach evangelism workers how to lead new converts in the next step of discipleship. We
are partnering with Bishop Alton Gatlin and the International Sunday School Department to
make this a reality.
4. Outreach Training. Pastors are hungry for material on how to train their workers to do
outreach in the community. We are working to provide COGIC resources whereby pastors
can train their members on how to reach their city for Christ.
