According to police reports, on June 5 at roughly 2 a.m., Megan Howard, 20, of Lick Creek Road, Salyersville, escaped from custody. Police had Howard under arrest after she was riding in a car that turned around in an attempt to avoid police. Kentucky State Police noted in the warrant of arrest Howard had an Megan Howard Fourth of July active bench warrant from Johnson County. She was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, third degree escape, resisting arrest, theft by unlawful taking (under $500) and giving officer false name or address, however, she got away, resulting in a warrant for her arrest. On Saturday, July 4, at approximately 1:45 p.m., KSP found her in a trailer on KY Rt. 40. That’s how the founder of Mission Teens, Inc., James D. Bracken, described the faithbased non-profit treatment program. Bracken started the program in 1969, with the first residential center in New Jersey. He passed away in 2012, however, his wife is still involved in the ministry and the program has grown to 18 facilities nationwide, with one located locally in Salyersville on Parkway Drive (beside Hometown TrueValue).
