You do not want to miss this fun-filled event designed for the whole family. Free ice
cream bar is included with your paid ticket. All children ages 3-18 years old need to
purchase a ticket. Today is the last day for $4.00 tickets. They will be $5.00 at the
door. Adults are free. Bring money for food, raffles, and shopping. Great games,
entertainment, prizes, and surprises!
Reservoir High is holding its Homecoming Carnival on Friday-October 23rd! It is from 430-630 in the front parking lot of
the school! Games, snacks, and the PTSA is hosting a spaghetti
dinner! Football game follows at 700pm. Come join us future
GATORS!
Carson Scholarship Nomination: Early in the second quarter, Lime Kiln will
be selecting one 8th grader as our Carson Scholarship school nominee.
Winners earn $1000, held in escrow against future college expenses.
According to the Carson Scholars website, "Carson Scholars must have a
minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community
service. Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic
achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need,
ethnicity, creed or religion." Students will learn more through their English
classes in the upcoming weeks, including what you need to do to be
considered as the LKMS nominee. You are invited to learn more about the
Carson Scholars and their selection process by visiting their website

Fuel Fund 5K Trail Run…Sunday, November 1st, 9am – 12 pm, Schooley Mill
Park, Highland. Join us in Howard County for this family-friendly event,
including a timed 5K trail run, a l mile fun run and more. All proceeds will
benefit the Fuel Fund of Maryland, a nonprofit dedicated to providing
resources to low-income Maryland families for heat and home utility needs.

Coffee and Conversation with the Board of Education
The Board of Education of Howard County regularly holds Coffee and
Conversation sessions at schools throughout the county. These meetings

provide citizens with an opportunity to share a cup of coffee and chat
informally with Board members. The meetings are held in various regions of
the county; however, interested persons from throughout the county are

River Hill High School Dance, Theatre Arts, and Vocal Music Presents…
A Performing Arts Workshop for Middle School Students
What:
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a one hour weekly technique class in
vocal music, dance, or musical theatre (students will choose their technique focus class)
AND a one hour performing arts class. Both of these classes will culminate in a collaborative
performance on the River Hill High School Stage
This workshop series will be taught by the following River Hill faculty Katie Geiger - Vocal Music
Jennifer Hennessie - Dance
Pam Land - Musical Theatre

Open to all current 7th and 8th graders from Clarksville Middle School, Folly Quarter
Middle School, and Lime Kiln Middle School

Workshops - Mondays - November 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 from (4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
Dress Rehearsal - Friday, December 4 (4:00 - 5:30 p.m.)
Public Performance - Friday, December 4 (7:00 p.m.)
Cost - $15.00
This will cover the cost of an original t-shirt that will be used as the costume for the public
performance and dinner to be provided following the dress rehearsal on December 4. This
can be paid at the first class meeting.

Play It Safe, Poster Design Contest
High school students - enter your poster design for a chance to win $100! Play It Safe

Girl Scouts
If your child might be interested in girl scouts, there is a troop that meets twice a month
on Mon. evenings. This is a great way to meet new friends, explore and learn in a great

Fuel Fund
Fuel Fund Trail Run 5K, Sun., Nov. 1., 9 a.m., Schooley Mill Park in Highland, MD.
Participants can also participate in a 1 mile fun run/walk. Registration pricing starts at
$30. Volunteer opportunities for ages 13+ are available. The Fuel Fund of Maryland

Howard County Police Department
Collision Avoidance Training classes beginning, Nov. 21, and Dec. 12.
The C.A.T. program is an advance defensive driving and vehicle control program for
licensed teenage driver’s ages 16-20 years old. The one-day program (8.5 hours) is
designed to provide young drivers with the knowledge and understanding of vehicle
dynamics. The course and classroom are instructed by Police Officers. The cost to each
