Nailcote Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club Wedding brochure we are gathered here today to witness Nailcote Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club Welcome to Nailcote Hall - The Perfect Setting to Celebrate Your Precious Day! We understand that organising your wedding should be an enjoyable experience and we will do all we can to help and advise you, so that you can be sure of having the day you want. The suggestions that follow are only examples of what we can do; we will be happy to discuss your own ideas and preferences and how best we can carry them out on the day for you. s the marriage of this man and woman Planning Your Special Day First steps. The first thing you will be planning is the budget. Talk between yourselves and your respective parents about the kind of service you would like; you may wish to be married in church or prefer a civil ceremony. You will find that your parents will be enormous help to you in discussing the budget, they will have firsthand knowledge of the best way to allocate the money. On your very special day, you will want the finest of everything so plan carefully the style of reception and honeymoon. When you have decided, visit your Vicar or Registrar and make arrangements for your marriage ceremony. They will be of great help to you both and explain everything you will need to know. If you wish, a rehearsal can be arranged to set your minds at ease and assure you that it will all be perfect on your wedding day. Take this opportunity to apply for a marriage license if necessary. Booking Your Reception When you have the date, arrange and book your reception. We will be more than happy to offer you any professional advice on catering matters, styles of seating arrangements and anything else you may be unsure of. You have discussed between yourselves who to invite, so make a checklist. It is easy to forget somebody when you have so many people who will want to be there on your special day. Think of all your relatives and friends on both sides and write them down for your respective mothers to compile a guest list. The following is the usual order of proceedings 1. The Bride & Bridegroom cut the cake. 2. Toast to ‘The Bride & Bridegroom’ This is normally proposed by the Bride’s father or a close relative or friend of the family. 3. Toast ‘The Bridesmaids.’ This is always proposed by the Bridegroom following his response to the first toast. 4. The Best Man would then respond to the Bridegroom’s speech on behalf of the Bridesmaids. He would also read the telegrams to the guests. The bride selects the type of service, decides on her dress and bridesmaids’ attire, whilst the bridegroom selects the best man and ushers, buys the rings and pays the church fees. He can also buy presents for the bridesmaids, best man and ushers as a gesture of gratitude for their help. He buys flowers for his bride, brides mother, his own mother, bridesmaids and buttonholes for himself and the best man. He arranges and pays for transport for himself and the best man and the bride and himself after the wedding. please raise your glasses and The Best Man The Best Man is the Bride Groom’s right hand man, who keeps the ring and ensures the bride groom gets to the church on time. He pays the church fees on behalf of the bride groom. He checks and ensures transport for all guests to the reception and that travel arrangements for the honeymoon are in order. At the reception it is the best mans honour to read any congratulatory telegrams. The Chief Bridesmaid The Chief Bridesmaid assisits the bride to dress, holds the bouquet during the ceremony and organises other bridesmaids. The Brides Father The father gives the bride away and receives guests at the reception. He pays for the wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, cars (except bridegrooms), photographs, church and reception flowers, invitations and press announcments (if any). The Brides Mother The Brides Mother is traditionally in charge of all the proceedings. She decides on the guest list together with the bridegrooms mother and the venue for the reception. She handles any catering arrangements and ensures the wedding cake is ready. After the wedding ceremony, the brides mother and father, together with the bride and bridegroom and his parents, greet the guests at the reception. toast the bride and groom Pavilion Suite something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue Other Services to Arrange • You will always want to be reminded of your wedding day. Professional photographs make all the difference, so book your photographer now. • Video, now popular as the cine film used to be, but needs expert handling if you are to be satisfied in years to come. Choose your video camera operator carefully and book early. • Arrange for your wedding cars. Traditionally this expense was shared between the bridegroom and the brides father but today arrangements are less formal. Discuss your plans together. • Check with your baker about wedding cake. He will be able to help you with size and design and will tell you when he needs to have your definite order. • Flowers are another shared expense. Usually the bridegroom pays for the actual wedding flowers, whereas the brides father pays for the church and reception displays. Book your florist early. • One of the most delightful things you will be doing is arranging your honeymoon. Take a trip to your local travel agency for brochures that you can study before you make a final decision. Whatever you decide, book your honeymoon well in advance so you will not be disappointed. • You should now go to the printers too and have your invitations printed. They will be able to show you a catalogue of diferent styles available for your wedding stationery, invitations, place cards etc. • A toast master is an excellent way to make sure that your day is run smoothly. He will make sure that no guest is overlooked and that the meal, speeches and formalities pass off smoothly. Shopping Around One of the most romantic moments for you both will be selecting the wedding ring. Choose carefully and savour this beautiful time together. You could both shop for presents for the bridesmaids and the best man at the same time. It is great honour for them to hold these postions and a gift from you to show your gratitude would be greatly appreciated and make your wedding day even more special for them. Continue with wedding present list. It’s so easy in all the excitement of getting married to forget the practical things like knives and forks, sheets and towels etc. or small items such as can-openers or cork screws. Look around together for items for your ‘bottom drawer’. About four months before your wedding, make sure your travel bookings and ask the agency to confirm your arrangements in writing. When that is done, you can anticipate that in four months time you will be married and on your own. Three months before the big day, finalise your wedding attire. This will allow time for fitting and final touches. Traditions The Wedding Bouquet: In the olden days this was made up of strong smelling herbs to ward off evil spirits and to surround the couple with beauty. Most flowers have their own meaning. The bouquet used to always contain orange blossom which symbolises fertility. The Dress: White was the colour which the ancient Romans believed would ward off evil spirits. It had nothing to do with purity or virginity. The veil was also designed to protect the bride from evil spirits seeing her beauty and being jealous. The Honeymoon: Centuries ago, it was customary for the bride and bridegroom to drink mead (a wine made from honey) for a month after the wedding. A month was known as a ‘moon’-hence Honeymoon. Stag & Hen Parties Rick’s Bar is a great place to celebrate your hen or stag party. Just choose from our packed events diary of party nights with live bands and theme nights. If you fancy something a little less lively then why not take advantage of our leisure facilities followed by a lunch or supper party in Rick’s Garden Cafe Bar. The Day Before Make it a relaxing weekend for your friends and family staying the night before your wedding. A round of golf for the gentlemen perhaps on our 9 hole golf course, home of the British Par 3 Championship or a relaxing afternoon in our leisure club. Join them in the evening for dinner in the Oak Room restaurant or our private dining room. The Morning After Before your friends and family leave for home, why not arrange a special champagne breakfast in the Oak Room restaurant to make your wedding weekend complete.
