We had a meet‐
ing of all Zone 4 clubs President and representative at 6:00 PM last Oct. 24 at Pulot Gata Restau‐
rant to discuss the mechanics of the 3rd Leg District Golf Tournament on Nov. 27, 2013 Wednes‐
day at the South Course of Valley Golf & Country Club. All of our Marikina Rotary golfers should prepare for this coming golf tournament. PP Noel Flores, as district tournament chairman, is or‐
ganizing this tournament with lots of prizes and giveaways for all the golfers. We also encourage our members to support this fundraising effort of our club to help finance our service projects by becoming hole sponsors or donors to this event. Last Oct. 24, we had our Halloween party at our clubhouse. Congratulations to Dir. Manny Pecho for a very good set design concept and décor, and a well‐attended fellowship for our Rotarian members and spouses/members of the Inner Wheel Club of Marikina. Everyone enjoyed the games and activities during the fellowship hosted by PP Ronie Masangkay. Our district 3800 to‐
gether with other districts held the Multi‐District Tree Planting in Barangay Sawa, Tanay, Rizal last Saturday, Oct. 26 morning and planted various indigenous tree seedlings. We have already donated Ph 1,000 (club listing/assessment) to the district to help finance the cost of planting, maintenance and care of the tree seedlings for the next 3 years. On the same day in the evening of Saturday Oct. 26, 2013, we had the District’s annual Oktoberfest and Songfest from 6:00 PM to 12:00 MN at the Rizal High School covered court. The host club, RC Mandaluyong Central had a live band and unlimited draft beer and a bilao of pulutan for all. We paid the club listing of Ph 2,500. The next day, Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, we again went to the District Ten Pin Bowling Tournament at Coronado Lanes, Star Mall Edsa, Mandaluyong. The game started at 9:00AM with our team playing against RC Pasig South. At this point, our club is ranked in the middle 3rdgroup or District Secretary’s Cup. The following played for Team RC Marikina: PP Joe Judan, PP Dante Verano, PP George Ty, Spouse Lyn Montoya, and I. Spouse Leonor Ty cheered our players. Immediately after the games, we proceeded to the Aglipay church in Malanday, Marikina where our club con‐
ducted our annual Medical‐Dental Mission and birthday celebration for PD Jessie Cruz. Congratu‐
lations to Dir. August Igliane for a successful project and thank you to all the doctors who volun‐
teered their services and the Rotarians and spouses who supported this project. The district will have its 2nd District Mass Induction to be hosted by Cluster 2 (Zones 4 and 7) on Nov. 16, 2013 Saturday at Club Filipino from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. I enjoin our members to invite prospective members to our weekly club meetings and share Rotary with them. The TRF Annual Giving Dinner to be hosted by RC Marikina Hilltop will be on Nov. 25, 2013 at 6:00PM at the Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, Pavilion A. Paul Harris Fellows will be honoured during this event and those contributing US $1,000 in cash on or before this event during this Rotary year will be hosted to a free dinner (worth Ph 1,000) by DG Louie Ticman at this event. The Rotary Foundation is given emphasis this month in Rotary. In connection with the TRF contributions please remit your ticket sales for the District Car Raffle as soon as possible. Part of the proceeds will be credited as your TRF contribution. In addition please be informed that the Board of Director’s have decided that a 10% incentive are to be given to members who have solicited sponsors and advertisements for the 3rd Leg District Golf Tournament (Nov 27, 2013) and Souvenir Program. These incentives shall also be credited to their respective TRF contributions. We are nearing our Club’s election period so please settle your accounts. For those who are “interested” in becoming candidates please settle all regular assessments and dues. There are also attendance requirements so please co‐
ordinate with our Attendance Chairman PP Flor dela Paz on how to meet this prerequisite. Our Christmas party’s tentative date is on December 19, 2013, venue to be an‐
nounced later. The theme will be “Christmas Festivals”, Groupings and Pres‐
entation Guidelines to be printed in the next bulletin. Please note that we still have a long way to fulfill our membership targets (at least 5 new members). Continue to share Rotary and inform us if any eligible and Prospective Rotarians who we can invite. Halloween Party, Oct. 24,2013, MRYC Zone 4 District Golf Hosting Committee Mtg. Tenpin Bowling Tournament, Oct. 27 Octoberfest, Oct. 17,2013 RC Rodriguez Medical/Dental Mission, Aglipay Church, Oct. 7,2013 Every Rotarian, Every Year! As a special way to commemorate the Rotary Centennial and ensure the continued good work of The Rotary Foundation, the Annual Programs Fund Goal for the 2004‐05 centennial year has been estab‐
lished at US$100 per capita. This ambitious goal was set by the Council on Legislation in April 2001.Many Rotarians already contribute US$100 or more each year to the Annual Programs Fund, providing essential ongoing support to the Foundation’s educational and humanitarian programs. If every Rotarian were to contribute this amount every year, the Foundation could greatly expand its efforts to alleviate hunger and poverty; provide health care, education, and clean water to those in need; and build peaceful relations among the peoples of the world. To encourage all Rotarians to contribute to the Foundation in the centennial year and every year thereafter, the trustees have adopted the fundraising campaign, Every Rotarian, Every Year. The Rotary Centennial offers an ideal opportunity for clubs and districts to showcase their Foundation supported projects and encourage members to make annual contributions to the Foundation’s An‐
nual Programs Fund. The phenomenal success that Rotarians demonstrated in raising millions of dol‐
lars for polio eradication provides a model for this new campaign. Every Rotarian, Every Year encour‐
ages the same kind of dedicated support for the Foundation’s other vital programs, such as Ambassa‐
dorial Scholars, Group Study Exchange, Matching Grants, and Rotary Centers for International Stud‐
ies, which need Rotarian financial support every year to continue to be vital forces for peace and world understanding. To recognize the crucial role that Rotary clubs play in ensuring the viability of Foundation programs, a new annual club recognition was launched in 2003‐04. If every member contributes $100 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, a club will be eligible to receive a banner proclaiming its status as a 100% Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Club. Beginning with the 2004‐05 Rotary year, clubs will set their own Annual Programs Fund goals and work toward achieving and/or exceeding the $100 per capita goal. Individual Rotarians can also receive special recognition. Any Rotarian who makes annual contribu‐
tions of $100 or more can be recognized as a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member. The Foundation Trustees and the RI Board of Directors are asking Rotarians in every club to embrace the message of Every Rotarian, Every Year. As the only international charitable organization that fo‐
cuses its support on projects identified, funded, and implemented by Rotarians, The Rotary Founda‐
tion can meet local needs on a global scale. To keep pace with the ever‐increasing demand on its pro‐
grams, the Foundation depends largely on annual Rotarian support. Contributions of $100 or more from Every Rotarian, Every Year will secure the future availability of the Foundation’s increasingly popular programs, restore programs that have been scaled back, and enable Rotary to reach even greater heights in its second century of service. How to Lock Screen Orientation The Android screen switches to either the portrait or landscape view in response to the way you hold the device when you run certain apps. What if I want to lock the screen orientation to one view so that the screen doesn't rotate to another? Easy. Run the Settings app. Tap Display under DEVICE. Uncheck "Auto‐rotate screen". Your screen will then lock to the portrait mode. To unlock it, check the above option. How to Print Screen Where’s the Print Screen button when you need to take a screen shot of your Android device? Instead of using one button, try a combination of two: Press and hold down the Power and Volume‐down buttons simultaneously. Open the Gallery app, and you can see your screenshot already saved in the Screenshots al‐
bum. Note: Older Android system doesn't support this feature, but it has a more complicated way to take screenshots using Android SDK such as this without rooting the device. How to Select Wallpapers for your Android You can easily select a wallpaper from a collection of a few in your system and set it as wallpaper for your Home screens. Touch and hold an empty location of a home screen. Choose either Gallery, Live Wallpapers or Wallpapers from the pop‐up menu. Select an image and set it as wallpaper. Alternatively, you can run the Settings app, then go to DEVICE > Display > Wallpaper, and con‐

Rotary Club of Marikina COMELEC Guidelines
for Election of Officers & Directors for RY 2014-2015
Qualification of Candidates
1. He must be a member of the club in good standing.
2. He must have paid all his dues and all other assessments (including Inductions, Anniversaries and Christmas Parties) to the club as of date of election.
3. He must have attended 50% of the regular meeting out of which 50% must be in the home
club and provided he has not incurred four (4) consecutive absences.
Voter’s Eligibility
1. Only members in good standing as of election date shall be entitled to vote. Members who
have paid all his dues and all other assessments (including inductions, Anniversaries and
Christmas Parties) are considered members in good standing and will be allowed to vote.
2. Absent members are not allowed to vote (No proxy voting)
Election Process
1. The annual election shall be held during our club meeting on December 5, 2013
2. Nomination of Officers and Directors shall be presented by the members from the floor during the said meeting or in written form before the election day for all elective positions duly
accepted in writing by the nominee.
3. Floor nomination of qualified members to absentia is allowed provided that there is a written
acceptance for his nomination that will be submitted to the COMELEC during the election.
4. The position to be voted for are the following: PRESIDENT-NOMINEE, VICE PRESIDENT,
SECRETARY, TREASURER AND FIVE (5) DIRECTORS.
5. Members nominated on the floor in any particular position must express personally his acceptance of the nomination before he is considered a candidate.
6. A roll call of members will be done after the closing of nomination for a particular position.
7. Methods of voting in electing the Officers and Directors shall be by SECRET BALLOTING
and will be done one (1) minute after finishing the roll call.
8. A candidate who has been voted upon by the majority of the votes cast shall be declared
winner in their respective positions.
9. A tie will be broken by a second balloting. If there is another tie on the second balloting, it
will be broken by toss coin. One candidate chooses if he will go for head or tail and the
other candidates will toss the coin to the floor.
10. In case of second balloting, only voters in the first balloting will be allowed to cast their
votes in the second balloting to break the tie; latecomers will not be allowed to vote. Although late comers can still vote in the next position to be voted upon.
11. DECISION OF THE COMELEC IS FINAL unless appealed to the club members whose
decision shall be final when reversed or modified by TWO-THIRDS votes of the members
within a reasonable period of time as determined by the Board of Directors.
