Godspell Jr. - Pineland Players
A Note From the Director This is the first time in many years that Pineland Players has done a youth show and I wasn’t sure how everything would work out. Would we get enough talented kids? Would they be able to carry such a deeply emotional show? Would rehearsing on weekends only be enough time to put together a high quality production? Could we mount a full show without a full stage? Could we put a new twist on an old show? The short answer – yes. Directing Godspell Jr. has been a pure joy. Not only is it one of my favorite shows but the cast and production team has been such a pleasure to work with. It’s rare for everything in a production to go off without a hitch but thanks to some wonderful folks this has been one of them. Steve Lottes is my favorite right-hand man and stepped in to do even more than usual as my assistant director/producer. I can always count on him to make sure everything works out. Fay Schanne is the best choreographer around, and with Jennifer Walker stepping in and taking the job of assistant choreographer our kids are all dancing like pros. Nancy DiYenno made sure everyone got all their notes just right and the kids tackled some tough harmonies like they’d been doing it for years. Leslie Romanuski always handles our tickets and front of of house duties with efficiency and a smile. Stephanie Lottes has been a great production assistant – she is definitely our “best girl.” Arielle Thomas put her stage combat training to good use and directed some awesome hits. Emily Chant, Adèle Guth, Gabby Miller, Danielle Romanuski , Tori Sheffer and David Thomas all submitted such great artwork that we had to use them all – some as posters, program and t-shirt art. Cat Davies made the art t-shirt ready and is our favorite photographer. Most of all, I have to thank the hardest working, nicest, most talented group of kids I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. I am so proud of each and every one of you and all that you’ve accomplished. You‘ll make them laugh, maybe cry and will surely get the thunderous applause you deserve. I believe that community theatre should offer everyone a chance to shine. Although this show was originally done with a small cast we managed to feature every on of our large ensemble of kids so that they all get to enjoy their moment in the spotlight. I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished and I hope you enjoy our backstage production of Godspell Jr. as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing it to the stage.
