Tip of the day
My machine is jamming!?. When I remove the fabric from the machine, I notice
thread bunched & nesting up underneath the fabric. What's WRONG?



When you notice thread bunching under the fabric or in the bobbin case area it
appears to be the bobbin thread that is the problem. It is actually excess top thread.
If you were to thread the top of your machine with green thread and the bobbin
with red thread, you would see lots of green thread under the fabric or in the
bobbin area. This is an indication that there is not enough tension on the top
thread. Re-thread the machine with the presser foot up and make sure the thread is
in the tension disc, before you thread the needle put the presser foot down, and pull
the thread...making sure there is tension. Be sure the bobbin case is in the correct
position.
If this does not solve the problem you may need to increase the upper tension
setting. Note the number that the tension dial is set on and increase it by one
number and test the stitching . Continue to increase the setting and test stitch until
the problem is solved. Typical tension is 5.

Learn to Serge
Come in and take a lesson….try before you buy!!!!!!
Serger Level 1...Working with your own serger you will learn basic maintenance, threading and setting tensions.
Level 1 is a prerequisite for Levels 2 & 3. Bring your serger, it would be lonely at home by itself.
Serger Level 2...In this class you will learn all the basic techniques of serging. Outside and inside corners, securing
and attaching elastic, and the use of optional presser feet. Remember to bring your serger to class.
Serger Level 3...Use your serger to it’s full capacity! Learn how to do decorative seams, rolled edges, flatlocking,
and how to use decorative threads.
Woolly nylon and decorative threads are required and are available at Massey’s.
For the class you need to have the thread colours that match the serger tension dials
