A WORD FROM THE AMEER
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Assalamu Alaikum!
As we enter the year 2015, it is time to
reflect and thank AllahSWT for His enormous favors during 2014. We were
blessed to have a very harmonious and
peaceful year where the camaraderie was
evident always, our youth made tremendous progress towards Deen, and the
new masjid progress made significant
steps towards eventual completion. I
wish to thank all the brothers and sisters
for their cooperation to please AllahSWT.
We pray that 2015 brings even more of
His blessings.
Yet, the memories of Peshawar incidence are still fresh and we pray that
AllahSWT place all the Shuhada in Jannah
and invoke Sabre Jameel in their loved
ones. It is a wakeup call that we remain
on guard at our Masjid for such happenings, and also that we educate our children to be watchful of bad people enticing them towards evil acts in the name of
Islam. May AllahSWT protect us all.
Regards,
Shakil Ahmed

VIGIL TO PAY TRIBUTE TO
VICTIMS OF PESHAWAR
SCHOOL ATTACK
On 17-Dec, Islamic Association of Cary
organized a candlelit vigil and prayer service to pay tribute to the victims of a Taliban attack on a school in Pakistan. This
was an opportunity for people to share their
grief and about 70 men, women, and children participated including members of
other faiths.
A tea lamp was lit for every victim outside
of the Cary Masjid during the vigil.
Organizers also laid out tea lamps to symbolize lives lost in other recent tragedies in
Australia, where terrorists killed two hostages, and in the Philadelphia suburbs
where a gunman went on a spree killing six
and injuring one before taking his own life.
The vigil offered a place to find peace and
meaning for the painful and seemingly
senseless recent acts of violence.
The event was also featured on ABC news.

for greater recognition and success.
We have very enthusiastic youth

MASJID PROGRESS (BRICK PLACEMENT CEREMONY)
Alhamdu Lillah! By the Grace of Allah we
have reached a milestone of laying bricks to
begin the process of external walls closure of
the new Cary Masjid. This is a great gift of

Brothers and sisters came in large numbers to
fulfill the Sunnah of IbrahimAS who built the
first Masjid by his own hands.
ADVICE FROM QURAN
(Seeing the horrors of the Hour of Resurrection,) they will say: ‘Ah, woe to us! Who has
raised us from our sleeping places? This
(coming back to life) is the same that the
Most Kind (Lord) promised and the Messengers spoke the truth.’
[Surah Yaseen, Ayat 52]
ADVICE FROM HADITHS
Sahih-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number
432: Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "Allah says, 'I have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my believer slave, who, if I cause his dear friend (or
relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for
Allah's Reward)."
