Britain’s Got Talent
Saturday 12th April, 7.15pm
Ant and Dec present the eighth exciting series of
Britain's biggest talent search. The judging panel –
comedian David Walliams, singer Alesha Dixon,
actress Amanda Holden and talent show supremo
Simon Cowell – return for the third year running,
hoping to uncover more UK talent. Auditions have
been held in Belfast, London, Manchester,
Birmingham and Cardiff in a bid to find a variety act fit
for royalty and worthy of the top prize of £250,000.
Previous contestants, including singers Paul Potts and
Susan Boyle, dog act Ashleigh and Pudsey and last
year’s winners, shadow dancers Attraction, have gone on to achieve massive success across the
globe. The judges provide as much entertainment as the acts themselves as they debate the talent
and entertainment value of each wannabe superstar. None of the hopefuls wish to hear the dreaded
sound of the judges' buzzers, but if all four judges push them, the audition will be cut short and the
dream will be over. This year sees the debut of the golden buzzer, which allows each judge to send
one act each straight through to the live semi-finals regardless of the other judges’ opinions. Ant
and Dec wait in the wings to provide support, which involves either joining in the celebrations or
offering a shoulder to cry on, as the acts exit the stage. Which of the acts will be returning for
another performance and the chance to take the stage at this year's Royal Variety Show?
Amazing Greys
Saturday 12th April, 8.30pm
Take Me Out’s host Paddy McGuinness and
former newsreader Angela Rippon present this
brand new game show which is set to become
the ultimate battle of the generations. Following
a similar format to the old classic Generation
Game, a series of confident young challengers
will take on some of the UK's most celebrated
senior citizens in games and challenges based
around the elders’ formidable talents. Football
star Sir Geoff Hurst, food expert Prue Leith and
tennis champion Christine Truman are just
some of the famous pensioners lined up to take
part in future episodes.
This week’s series opener sees contestants Sal
Sinawi and Duncan Millin facing off against 73year-old strongman Henry Clark, 75-year-old
radio DJ David Hamilton, 77-year-old cyclist
Derek Stewart, 68-year-old darts champion
John Lowe and 67-year-old quiz mastermind Liz
Horrocks. The younger contestants will face a
maximum of three Amazing Greys. If they can
beat two of the three, they will leave with
£10,000. If not, they will leave with nothing.
Which will triumph – age and wisdom or youth
and enthusiasm?

The Walton Sextuplets at 30
Thursday 17th April 9pm
As the Walton sextuplets reach their 30th
birthday, this brand new documentary follows the
girls - Hannah, Luci, Jennie, Ruth, Kate and
Sarah - and their parents Janet and Graham as
they take the trip of a lifetime to New York to
celebrate their birthday together in style. The
world’s only all-female sextuplets, the Waltons
from Wallasey have attracted headlines from the
moment they were born and at each subsequent
milestone in their lives. The girls have also
reached an age where they are thinking about
having families themselves. Featuring new and
archive footage, this film offers an intimate portrayal of this unique family, following Janet and
Graham’s extraordinary journey from their initial efforts at conception to producing sextuplets, the
girls’ passage through their teenage years and their reaching this milestone. Capturing all the
celebrations as they mark their 30th, the girls are seen shopping, ice-skating, taking a trip on a
helicopter and having tattoos to celebrate their birthday - each gets a tattoo of six interlinking hearts.
The family are surprised by some of the people who have previously featured in their lives, including
Michael Aspel, and for the first time ever they meet the Carpios, another family of sextuplets.

Monday 14th April, 9pm
The two-part thriller about Jane
Fielding (Claire Goose), who
believes that she recognises
her mother’s killer 23 years
after the murder took place,
concludes. Nearly a quarter of
a century after her mother’s
death, Jane is married to Rob
(Felix Scott) and has a
daughter of her own, but the
traumatic events of that day still
haunt her. Then, on a routine
visit to hospital, she locks eyes
with the man whom she thinks
killed her mother. Andrew
Bolton (Peter Firth) is a
respected consultant oncologist
and family man whose status
and impeccable demeanour
make him an unlikely suspect.
Furthermore, it emerges that
Jane has made accusations
against others in the past and
that her identifications have
proved to be entirely
false. Her family and the
investigating police begin
to worry that this is just
another such claim.
When Andrew’s DNA
results establish his
innocence beyond any
doubt, Jane still cannot
accept that he is not the
killer and sets out to
ITV.com
prove it. Isolated and alone, her
determination becomes
increasingly irrational and
obsessive. As the police again
become involved, Jane’s home
life is turned upside-down as
the tension threatens to destroy
her marriage to Rob.
Meanwhile Andrew is deeply
hurt by the suspicions of his
own daughter, Emma (Christine
Bottomley). Emma’s confusion
and anguish find an outlet
when she lashes out at Jane,
unleashing a series of
consequences which neither of
the two women could possibly
have foreseen. Pippa Haywood
stars as Chief Investigating
Officer Alison Hall, the original
investigating officer who has
been brought back to handle
the case.

Week 15/16
Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis
Friday 18th April, 8pm
In this brand new six-part series, Warwick Davis and his family go
on holiday in different parts of Great Britain. Whether camping,
caravanning or staying in his campervan, Warwick aims to find out
what the British holiday can provide that cannot be found in other
parts of the world. He investigates what makes a quintessential
British holiday and explores the attractions we have to offer,
meeting lots of friendly characters along the way. The series also
provides an amusing insight into how families behave on holiday.
Warwick’s family do not share his passion for home-based
holidays, so he sets out to change their opinions throughout the
series. He struggles with his family’s laid-back approach as he
admits that he is an obsessive camping enthusiast.
This week’s programme comes from the historic county of Sussex.
Warwick and his family visit the famous Birdman competition held
each summer in the picturesque seaside town of Worthing. In this
event for human-powered flying machines, a bunch of eccentrics attempt to fly off the historic pier in
crazy costumes in the hope of winning a big prize. Warwick then has the honour of starting the
British Lawnmower Racing Championships in nearby Billingshurst. Finally, the family head off to the
fairytale 14th-century Bodiam Castle to meet teams re-enacting famous battles. Warwick is charged
with being the peacemaker... but once again, things do not go to plan.
The Olivier Awards 2014
Sunday 13th April, 10.15pm
Gemma Arterton and Stephen
Mangan host this glamorous
awards ceremony from the
Royal Opera House, Covent
Garden. Established in 1976,
the Olivier Awards are
presented annually by the
Society of London Theatre in
recognition of excellence.
Named after the acclaimed
actor Laurence Olivier since
1984, they are given for West
End shows and other
productions staged in London
and are considered to be the
highest accolade British theatre
has to offer, comparable to
Broadway’s Tony awards in the
USA. Nominees for this, the
38th awards ceremony, include
Dame Judi Dench, who is
bidding for a record eighth
award for her role in John
Logan’s Peter and Alice, in
which she and Ben Whishaw
starred as the inspirations for
ITV.com
Lewis Carroll’s Alice and JM
Barrie’s Peter Pan. Jude Law
and Tom Hiddleston are
nominated for the Best Actor
award for their starring roles in
Henry V and Coriolanus
respectively. Abba’s Benny
Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus
join the cast of Mamma Mia! for
a special celebration of the
show’s 15th anniversary in the
West End. There are also
performances by the nominated
casts of Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory, The Book of
Mormon and Once, plus
Broadway legend Bernadette
Peters flies in for a very special
appearance. For the first time,
ITV will also be showing the
ceremony on big screens in the
Covent Garden piazza.

Ade at Sea
Thursday 17th April, 8.30pm
Adrian Edmondson continues his exploration of Britain's
maritime past and examines how it continues to
influence the lives of the people who depend on the sea
today. Ade immerses himself in the lore of the sea, from
discovering the roots of old phrases to working with the
last surviving rope maker, piloting huge tankers in the
Bristol Channel and singing sea shanties on the
Mersey.
Episode five finds Ade on the west coast of Scotland,
where he visits Eigg, one of the most intriguing
inhabited islands of the Hebrides. Home to just 99
people, Eigg’s recent history is fascinating. In 1997, after decades of problems with absentee
landlords, the islanders raised £1.5 million and bought the island to run it themselves. Ade finds out
about their daily lives and the challenges they face in such a remote spot, before joining them for a
traditional ceilidh. He then sails back to the mainland and the port of Mallaig. In the 1960s this was
a busy fishing port, famed for its kippers and herring. Ade meets two women who worked here as
girls in the messy business of gutting the fish. Both met and married local fishermen and share their
reminiscences of happy days gone by. Ade ends his journey along this stunning coastline with a sail
on a traditional gaffer boat, 40 feet long and built over a century ago.
Endeavour
Sunday 13th April, 8pm
Shaun Evans returns as the
younger version of Colin
Dexter's feted detective
Inspector Morse in a new fourpart series. Also reprising their
roles are Roger Allam, Anton
Lesser, James Bradshaw and
original star John Thaw's
daughter Abigail Thaw. In this
week’s episode, Sway, Oxford
housewife Vivienne Haldane
travels home through the
November fog. The next
morning, she is found murdered
- throttled to death with a silk
stocking. She is the third
woman to die in such
circumstances in under a
month. Detective Constable
Endeavour Morse discovers
that all the victims
were married and all
had their wedding
rings removed.
As a city-wide
manhunt for a multiple
murderer intensifies,
Endeavour discovers
a private diary kept
hidden by Mrs
Haldane, detailing
periodic infidelities
ITV.com
with an anonymous 'Mr X'. He
also traces the murder weapon
- a pair of glamorous French
stockings - to Burridges, a
department store in the heart of
the city. The case brings out
painful memories for Detective
Inspector Fred Thursday
(Allam), for whom a chance
encounter with Burridges'
employee Luisa Armstrong
rouses memories of wartime
strife and unfulfilled promises.
As the suspect list narrows and
the strangler stalks his next
victim with increasing
desperation, other strands of
the investigation come into
focus. But Endeavour and
Thursday, grappling with
personal travails, miss a deeper
tragedy unfolding.

Big Star’s Little Star
Wednesday 16th April, 8pm
The brand new second series of the
entertainment show continues this week, opening
the door once again to find out what life is really
like in some celebrity households. Host Stephen
Mulhern, also currently riding high with the
revitalised Catchphrase, quizzes some of Britain’s
most popular stars and their children to unearth
some magical memories and hilarious anecdotes
as they try to win as much money as they can for
a charity of their choice. The show offers viewers
a peek into the home lives of some of the stars,
revealing what they are really like behind closed
doors. Each week, three celebrities and their little
superstars compete for a possible jackpot of £15,000. Will their offspring keep quiet or will there be
any embarrassing revelations about what mum or dad get up to when the cameras are not following
them? Are star parents really as cool as they appear to be? What cringeworthy crushes do they
have and what hobbies and habits would they prefer to keep out of the public eye? Most
importantly, will the kids be able to keep the family secrets under wraps or will the glare of the
spotlight encourage them to divulge them?
Britain’s Got More Talent
Saturday 12th April, 8.30pm
Currently on ITV screens as the host of game
shows Catchphrase and Big Star’s Little Star,
Stephen Mulhern also returns to host a brand
new series of the mammoth talent competition’s
companion show. As the main show kicks off
with auditions, Stephen goes behind the scenes
to uncover all the latest news, views and gossip
from the programme. As well as all the usual
backstage shenanigans, Stephen catches up
with the acts, hosts and judges about the latest
happenings onstage. Stephen’s cheeky banter
with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David
Walliams and Alesha Dixon usually results in
some rather more candid opinions from the
judges than they might offer on the main
show. Also in store are plenty of behind-thescenes surprises as expert magician
Stephen wows the waiting contestants with a
trick or two. Starting with the auditions and
following the competition through every
stage to the final, Britain’s Got More Talent
is the ideal companion to one of the biggest
shows of the year. As the live shows arrive,
Stephen grills celebrity guests and
contestants alike as he strives to find out all
the biggest stories and opinions relating to
the UK’s biggest talent search.

Tom Daley Goes Global
Thursday 17th April, 9pm
Fresh from another fun-packed
series of ITV’s celebrity diving
show Splash!, Olympic bronze
medallist Tom Daley invites
ITV2 viewers along for the ride
as he embarks on his next big
adventure. Cameras follow
Plymouth-born diving hero Tom
and his best friend Sophie as
they set off on the journey of a
lifetime – a backpacking tour
across the globe taking in Asia,
Africa and Australasia. The
young pals kicked off the sixpart series last week by
heading for Thailand, where the
first-time backpackers were
faced with budget
accommodation and a major
A Mother’s Son
culture shock on the
first leg of their
journey. Their second
adventure takes them
to the equally alien
land of Japan,
beginning in ultramodern Tokyo where
a lack of English
translation soon leads
to the friends getting
lost. They eventually check into
a hostel with tiny rooms and no
beds before meeting some
colourful characters who
specialise in fancy dress, taking
tea with a young dancing girl
and hitting the stage for a night
of crazy karaoke. The trip
Monday 14th April, 10pm and Tuesday 15th
April, 10.05pm
culminates in a visit to an
ancient lantern festival, before
Tom faces a terrifying
paraglide. Will unpredictable
weather conditions threaten
Tom’s hopes of taking part in
another exhilarating challenge,
as they did in Thailand?
Another chance to see the thrilling two-part drama starring Hermione Norris, Martin Clunes, Paul
McGann and Alexander Arnold. When a teenage schoolgirl is found murdered in woods near a town
in Suffolk, mother of two Rosie Haleton (Norris) discovers damning evidence that could be
connected to the crime. Recently remarried, Rosie lives with her two children Jamie (Arnold) and
Olivia (Ellie Bamber), husband Ben Harley (Clunes) and his children from a previous marriage,
Jessica (Antonia Clarke) and Rob (Jake Davies). As they settle into daily life living together under
one roof, Rosie begins to suspect she may be sharing her home with a killer when she finds a pair
of blood-splattered trainers hidden under Jamie’s bed.
At first Rosie tries to dismiss her suspicions, believing them too incredible to be true. Could her son
be involved in murder? Rosie finds solace in an
unlikely place, confiding in her ex-husband David
(McGann), who like Rosie totally dismisses the idea
that Jamie could be responsible. Reluctantly, he
agrees to follow his son in the hope of clearing his
name, only to discover that Jamie has been
spending time with school dropout Sean (Josef
Altin) who was previously arrested for sexual assault
against a minor. At home, Ben’s son Rob has been
acting strangely since learning of the murder and
will not explain why. It is clear that he has
something to hide – could he have been a witness
or even been somehow involved?

Cricket: Pepsi Indian Premier
League Live *
from Wednesday 16th April, times vary
Live coverage of the seventh Indian Premier League
Twenty20 cricket tournament begins this week on
ITV4. Traditionally, the build-up to the series begins
in February with the players’ auction, which takes
place under the glare of the media spotlight. The big
news as far as English cricket fans are concerned is
that Delhi Daredevils have made the third highest
bid of the auction for the former England star Kevin
Pietersen, despite his miserable winter with the
England team. Now that Pietersen is no longer
playing international cricket, he is available for the
entire tournament and the Daredevils have shown
their faith by appointing him as captain of the side.
Not surprisingly after England’s disastrous recent form, Pietersen is the only English player taking
part in the IPL this year despite several players having made themselves available. This year there
will be eight teams taking part, one fewer than last year with the withdrawal of Pune Warriors. As
usual the tournament opens with the defending champions’ first match as 2013 winners Mumbai
Indians take on 2012 winners Kolkata Knight Riders. To avoid clashes with the 2014 General
Election, 20 of this year’s fixtures will be staged in the United Arab Emirates, with the opening
match on Wednesday April 16 taking place in Abu Dhabi.
Nerds and Monsters
Monday 14th – Friday 18th April, 4.30pm
The brand new animated
comedy series launches on
CITV this spring. Nerds &
Monsters features three nerdy
kids – Dudley Squat, Betty
Hooger and Irwin Chang-Stein
– and a dumb football
linebacker, Stan Grissle, who
are marooned on a strange
uncharted island, The
castaways have to be smart if
they are to resist the relentless
attacks by the island’s
inhabitants, a tribe of hideous
monsters who mistakenly
believe they are threatened by
these new human invaders.
Luckily for the nerds, the
monsters are not really that
smart at all! Dudley may be
short, but he is the intellectual
giant of the group and
extremely bossy. Betty
is hypersensitive,
overdramatic and
totally uncoordinated,
while Irwin is
frightened of
absolutely everything
except Betty, on whom
he has a giant crush.
Stan is big, loyal,
ITV.com
neckless and breathes through
his mouth. Now away from his
team, he realises that he is no
longer the big strong jock but
depends on the Nerds for
survival. The Monsters have a
supreme leader in Zarg, whose
job is to get rid of the Nerds.
Skur is an arrogant flying lizard
who is stuck with playing
second fiddle to Zarg but sees
the arrival of the Nerds as his
chance to gain power. Husband
and wife monsters Urp and
Durn are constantly bickering,
which is hardly surprising since
they share the same body!
Vink, Maiden Cheena and Lyle
complete the line-up. Ten new
episodes will be showing this
week.

Coronation Street

him to worry that Kirsty has recently been nearby. Sally is furious when Kevin allows Sophie and
Maddie to stay at his house. Gail signs up for a self-defence course at the gym, followed by Mary.
Rita is shocked to learn that Dennis is in hospital after being beaten up. He explains how things with
