The Don of Carlo’s Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey, is
a wisecracking Italian-American who owns an empire of ten
bakeries across the US.
The cat behaviorist is akin to a feline version of Cesar
Millan: in his show, he helps kitty owners whose pets have
difficulty adjusting to domestic life.
Cake Boss follows the extended Valastro clan as they bicker
and bond over their custom-built, handcrafted cakes.
He has a Master’s degree in acting, which he says comes
in handy as he was trained to ‘study people and their
behaviours, internalise [them] and make sense of [them].’
In one special episode this season, Buddy will toast to
Singapore’s golden jubilee with a special SG50 cake – tune in
to see what he’s cooking up.
Although he only works with house cats, he admits to
being equally fascinated by big cats, and hopes to ‘spend
time with them in the future’.
