Welcome, City of Downey Federal Credit Union Members!
CalCom Federal Credit Union (CalCom) is getting
bigger, stronger and better with the Merger of
City of Downey Federal Credit Union (CODFCU)
effective July 1, 2013. The Merger with CODFCU
will add two new branches, $7
million in assets and over 1,000 new
Members to CalCom Federal Credit
Union. The Merger with CODFCU
will also bring the experience of
the CODFCU staff and Board of
Directors. Three Board Members
Richard Redmayne, Tony Vasquez
and Board Chairman Andy Doyle
will be joining the CalCom Board of
Directors.
League Political Action Committee and credit
union lobbying efforts nationally. At Credit Union
National Association annual Governmental
Affairs Conference in Washington D.C., Andy met
with Congresswoman Lucille RoyballAllard to garner her support on the
issues facing the Credit Union industry
today.
For over 20 years Andy Doyle has
been a staunch supporter and a
volunteer on the City of Downey FCU Board of
Directors. Over the years Andy has been involved
with the efforts of the California Credit Union
CalCom will benefit greatly from the
addition of City of Downey, Members,
Employees and Board Members to the CalCom
Family. Let’s give a warm welcome to City of
Downey Federal Credit Union!
Andy lives in Downey California and has
worked for the past 24 years in the City
of Downey and Los Angeles County Fire
Department’s. He is also currently on
the Executive Board for the LA County
Firefighters Union Local 1014.
Member Spotlight - Desmond Nwaogu
Desmond Nwaogu an American Citizen of
Nigerian descent has been a Member of the
CalCom family since 2009.
Desmond is a successful author
and has published two books
since earning his Bachelor’s
degree in English from Cal State
Los Angeles in 2002. Desmond
believes that “the pen is mightier
than the sword.” His two books,
How Dog and Cat Became
Enemies and Ezechimere-King
Made by God, were written to
help transform and motivate his readers to
always adopt ethical values. His latest work,
Ezechimere-King Made by God, is part one in
a trilogy, tells the story of a slave and a King’s
Daughter who fell in love and their struggle to
be together. Desmond’s first book, How Dog
and Cat Became Enemies is an allegorical
story that alludes to the essence of trust and
the consequences of lies in our day to day
