Letter from the Chairmen
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department Parade and the Community Days Committee, we are
proud to present our 2014 DuBois Community Days and the DuBois Firemen’s Parade.
This year’s Community Days, our 23rd, is an even more special event for the City of DuBois, as it celebrates it’s
100th anniversary.
Our simple focal point to celebrate the community itself, has proven to be the perfect theme. By working
together with many community service organizations, as well as the City of DuBois, Community Days is once
again an impressive display of community cooperation.
Inside this book, you will find a schedule of events (Pg. 36 - 38) for the various activities that will be going on
throughout the entire weekend. Community Days has always maintained the belief that the
celebration should be presented to the public participants at the smallest expense possible; therefore most of
the activities, as always, are free.
The cost to the Community Days/Parade Committee to present this weekend celebration, however, is
significant. Expenses this year will be in excess of $125,000. Enclosed, you will find many advertisements for
companies and the names of many generous citizens who have contributed to make our celebration and
yours possible. Please take a moment to browse the advertisements. Try to remember these companies the
next time you are in need of something. If you recognize the name of a patron, please say thank you the next
time you see them. Without the generosity of our patrons, DuBois Community Days would not be possible. If
you need any additional information, feel free to call us at 814-371-5011. We will be happy to help you.
Best wishes to you all. We hope you enjoy our 23rd Community Days and the 100th anniversary of the
incorporation of the City of DuBois. Please have a safe, pleasant and enjoyable weekend.

We are all longing to go home to
some place we have never been
- a place half-remembered and
half- envisioned we can only catch
glimpses of from time to time.
Community. Somewhere, there are
people to whom we can speak
with passion without having the
words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to
receive us, eyes will light up as we
enter, voices will celebrate with us
whenever we come into our own
power. Community means strength
that joins our strength to do the work
that needs to be done. Arms to hold
us when we falter. A circle of healing.
A circle of friends. Someplace where
we can be free.

through an up close and personal encounter with the worlds largest animals. No place, anywhere, will you see
elephants like you are going to see here!
You'll be inspired as you experience the full force of each elephant's unique individual personality. We are lucky

The SDCA (“The Small Drum Corps Association”) or “Arena Drum Corps”, was established in 2008 to create a forum for drum corps performance within a context
that would both foster the activity at a grassroots level and provide for a maximum of impact. The idea, first conceived by Chris Ferrara, a former soprano soloist
for The Chicago Royal Airs and Bugler Hall of Famer, quickly took on momentum and was embraced by drum and bugle corps organizations from all across The
United States and Canada.
Combining live performance within a community school and on-going music education, Arena Drum Corps seeks to make the excitement and intimate experience of the drum corps activity immediately available in a manner that can be potentially sustainable for generations to come. Based upon the rich traditions of
the past, SDCA’s Arena Drum Corps has embraced the present in a way that it is hoped can insure the future of an activity that, over time, has enriched the lives
of tens of thousands of its participants and their audiences.

Community Days
For over 38 years, Christ The King Manor has served and
cared for Seniors in Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. A vital
program of this service is Home Support Services. More and
more people desire to enhance their independence by
staying in their own homes.
Recently, Christ The King Manor has embellished this
significant service to the community and calls it “Christ The King
At Home.” This new enhanced program is more than just a new
name - it covers a wealth of programs too numerous to
mention. The experience Christ The King has earned for
almost four decades has played an important role in this
expanded service.
For more information on our Christ The King At Home services,
