BitDefender Security for Mail Servers
BitDefender Security for Mail Servers Comprehensive antimalware protection for Windows and UNIX based Mail Servers Designed for mail servers running on Windows or UNIX-based platforms, BitDefender Security for Mail Servers brings together antivirus, antispyware, antispam, antiphishing, content and attachment filtering engines that secure the mail traffic of companies and Service Providers. Compatible with the majority of existing e-mail platforms, the product offers reliable protection against newly emerging malware and against attempts to steal confidential and valuable data. BitDefender advanced technologies: Key Benefits: •Increased productivity; •Reduced mail traffic; •E-mail protection against a wide range of malware; •High stability; •Ease of use and management; •Low resource/network impact. Key Features: •Superior antivirus protection; •Proactive heuristic protection against zero-day threats •Multiple layers of anti-spam filtering; •Content and attachment filtering*; •Antispyware and antiphishing protection; •Detailed reports and statistics; •Intuitive program interface. All BitDefender products include B-HAVE, a patent pending technology which analyzes the behavior of potentially malicious codes, inside a virtual computer, eliminating false positives and significantly increasing detection rates for new and unknown malware. Image Spam Filter BitDefender offers a more accurate image filter which, instead of analyzing the text within image spam messages, learns the common characteristics of those images in point of color content and proportions. The result: less false positives and lower spam traffic. To better deal with new spam, the BitDefender Lab has created NeuNet, a powerful antispam filter. Inside the Antispam Lab, NeuNet is pre-trained on a series of spam messages so that it learns to recognize new spam by perceiving its similarities with the messages it has already examined. Certified Antivirus Engines BitDefender’s award winning scan engines featuring the B-HAVE technology have been recognized to provide the most proactive antivirus protection available by ICSA Labs, Virus Bulletin and Checkmark. www.bitdefender.com UNIX-Based Platforms Core Functionalities MTA Integration System BitDefender Security for Mail Servers offers dedicated agents for several of the most popular mail transfer agents (Sendmail, Courier, qmail and CommuniGate Pro). Due to its SMTP proxy agent, the product can be used with other MTAs (such asExim or Dmail) as well, or when the filtering process is done separately from the running Mail Server. The SMTP proxy agent also gives access to features such as connection count limiting, trusted networks and relay domain limitations. Highly Efficient Antispam Filters Each message is analyzed on-the-fly by the central dispatcher, which then decides (based on the message characteristics) which of the product’s 7 powerful filters to use. When the dispatcher has built enough confidence, it labels the message as spam, phishing or legitimate. WBL (White List/ Blacklist) Support The administrator can set a list of trusted and untrusted addresses based on which to respectively “always accept” or “always reject” mail. Proactive Phishing Detection BitDefender Security for Mail Servers uses anti-phishing technology to detect illegal attempts to copy the “look and feel” of authentic messages, as well as the disguises and the forgeries used to persuade the user to send confidential data to a particular recipient. Configurable Antispam Filter Sensitivity The administrator can adapt the antispam filter’s sensitivity by setting very demanding or relaxed thresholds for each group of users. User and Group Management Besides a generic set of rules for the entire mail traffic, administrators will be able to configure different antivirus and antispam actions for each group of users so that large companies and ISPs are provided with scalable and flexible protection. SNMP Support BitDefender Security for Mail Servers works with SNMP-based monitoring and management systems. The SNMP Logger plug-in can send virus and administration alerts to three different hosts. The SNMP Daemon Plug-in allows performing product manage- ment actions such as triggering the update process or restarting the product. Increased Usability Intuitive Management Interface BitDefender Remote Admin This management tool for UNIX-based product helps remotely configure any settings in a single interface and check the current status of the product (detailed statistics and update information). BDSAFE (The BitDefender Swiss Army KniFE) This management tool is the command line interface which allows performing post-install configuration and administration tasks. Compatibility and Flexibility BitDefender Security for Mail Servers is flexible and configurable up to its smallest detail. It fully complies with FHS (Filesystem Hierarchy Standard) and its Rpm, deb and generic .tar.run packages ensure its compatibility with all major UNIX-based products. Reports and Statistics BitDefender Security for Mail Servers can send customizable e-mail notifications or SNMP alerts about its activity: number of scanned, disinfected, deleted, infected or filtered files. The statistics module displays information about current and past activity in a convenient rrd- based graph or chart format. Different Actions Adapted to Malware Type New BitDefender Security for Mail Servers detects potentially harmful applications, other than viruses, and creates a separate “Riskware”category with which only certain administrator-defined usergroups are allowed to work. A “Suspected” category is also dedicated to files that the engines only presume to be infected. Pipe to Program Action New By using the built-in “Pipe to program” action, server administrators are allowed to feed objects detected by the BitDefender engines to scripts or other programs. Improved Quarantine New The administrator can now define more than one quarantine area, searchable based on regular expressions, sender, recipient, date and cause for quarantine. A “restore” option has also been added to make sure the user can recuperate the data, if necessary. Windows-Based Platforms Core Functionalities Protects More Mail Servers Spyware Protection NEW BitDefender Security for Mail Servers can act as a multiple mail server proxy through inter¬faces capable of filtering the traffic routed to different mail servers. Due to its SMTP proxy agent, the product is compatible with the majority of existing e-mail platforms and it offers access to features such as connection count limiting, trusted networks and relay domain limitations. NEW A comprehensive signature database and heuristic spyware detection help protect against spyware and avoid the theft of confidential and valuable data. Blocks Directory Harvesting Attacks The Directory Harvesting filter protects against attempts to steal valid mail addresses from the mail server. Real-time Blackhole List Filter Blocks Infected Messages BitDefender Security for Mail Servers fights e-mail-borne malware by filtering and blocking messages that carry a virus, spyware, trojan, backdoor or other potentially dangerous active codes. NEW The RBL filter identifies spam based on mail servers’ reputation as spam senders. Bayesian Antispam Filter NEW Users can train the Bayesian Filter to identify spam by allowing it to learn to discern between spam and legit mail based on specific examples from their mailboxes. Configurable Antispam Filter Sensitivity The administrator can adapt the antispam filter’s sensitivity by setting very demanding or relaxed thresholds for each user group. User and Group Policies NEW Antivirus, antispam, content and attachment filtering policies can be defined for different users and groups, allowing system adminis¬trators to filter mail traffic in a more flexible manner. Increased Usability Reports and Statistics Highly Efficient Antispam Filtering NEW Connection and protocol filters such as the Allow/Deny IP List and Sender Black List are just two instances of the product’s multi-layered antispam protection system. E- mails that pass first level filters undergo content analysis at the central dispatcher, which decides what product filters to use so as to accurately classify messages as spam, phishing or legitimate. Proactive Phishing Detection NEW The anti-phishing technology detects illegal attempts to copy the “look and feel” of authentic messages intended to trick the user into sending confidential data to a particular recipient. NEW A comprehensive database related to the product’s activity allows generating detailed statistics and reports to help the system administrator monitor the mail server. Remote Management Server protection can be remotely configured by simply installing the management console on one computer inside the network. Centralized Management BitDefender Security for Exchange is compatible with BitDefender Enterprise Manager, allowing organizations to centrally manage antivirus protection and security policies inside complex networks. www.bitdefender.com Services Advanced Update System For permanent server protection, the product receives the latest updates and patches based on four configurable technologies: ondemand, scheduled*, automatic and pushed. Update Pushing The latest virus signatures are “pushed” to your servers the second they become available instead of waiting for the next scheduled update, further reducing the threat presented by new viruses. Free 24/7 Professional Technical Support Certified representatives provide BitDefender business customers with free permanent support online, by telephone or e-mail. The professional technical support is supplemented by an online database with answers to Frequently Asked Questions and fixes for common issues. *Only for Windows-based platforms Upgrades Registered users benefit from free upgrades to any new version of the product during the license period.
