Chances are, if you are familiar with
MBA events, you are familiar with
the work of StoneCraft Studios of
Wauwatosa. At January’s Home Building
& Remodeling Expo, StoneCraft won
the 2011 Interior Design Village People’s
Choice Award. Capitalizing on their
unique combination of intelligent design,
impeccable masonry, and custom woodworking, they successfully transformed an
18’x 18’ exhibit space into an Old World
Wine Room.
If you missed StoneCraft’s work in last
year’s Parade, you’re in luck. Visitors
will once again have the opportunity to
discover the StoneCraft Studios touch in
Tim O’Brien Homes’ 2011 Parade model,
the Bayberry. Look for StoneCraft’s work
on the home’s exterior, fireplace, and the
lower level.
StoneCraft Studios takes pride in offering
clients a variety of architectural coverings,
including thin-veneer stone, brick, tile,
wood, iron, tin and other natural materials. Custom woodwork encompasses
everything from cabinetry, mantles, doors,
wine storage, distressed beams and more,
while custom glass doors add a unique
touch to fireplaces. A team of seasoned
craftsmen ensure that every StoneCraft
Studio design is constructed to the highest standard.

to detail, their design service is uniquely
modern. There are no cookie cutter
designs at StoneCraft Studios. Each project
begins with a blank slate. Craig Podlesnik,
owner and artisan, starts with a design
consultation that asks all the important
questions. In fact, many of the builders
that StoneCraft Studios works with have
been so impressed with Craig’s ability to
create designs that truly express the desires
of their customers, that they have had
StoneCraft design for their own homes.
“It starts with a conversation,” said
Craig. “Many homeowners are
new to the building or remodeling
process. Here, they come to realize customizing their exterior and
interior masonry doesn't have to
break the bank. I take the time to
ask about the small details. I follow
a ‘listen and learn’ philosophy.”
Our showroom features many different
installation applications and techniques
that customers can view to help them
understand the multitude of styles and
design accents that can be achieved with
tile, stone and other materials. I take the
time to educate each homeowner on the
options. This ensures that the end result
is something that is a true reflection of
their tastes.”

be drawn to the custom stone surround and tile backsplash
surrounding a Wolf kitchen range, wine lovers will flock to the
custom wine storage, and those looking for exterior stone will
appreciate the five different chimney details that are featured.
StoneCraft Studio’s showroom is designed to be the place where
ideas begin. Education is at the core of every visit, so appointments are necessary.
“I think one of the biggest reasons customers are drawn to our
services is that we give them a story to tell,” said Podlesnik. “I
work closely with a local stone manufacturer, and also with a
wood harvester in Sullivan who cuts my black walnut down
from trees in Waukesha County. Homeowners appreciate the
local connection. I also look for opportunities to personalize
projects. At a lakefront home we worked on in Door County, the
keystone above their front door is actually a stone I found on
their property that resembled the topography of their lake. It
took a little detail carving by one of my masons to make it look
just right, but it looks great, and it gives the homeowners a true
link to the home’s past.”
If you own a home or are building a home with a story that’s
waiting to be told, look no further than StoneCraft Studios.
It’s the place where your story begins.
