All praise is due to Allah.
This is the form of Islamic greeting, meaning “Peace be on
hi
you.” The response is: wa ‘alaykumussalam (wa rahmatulla
wa barakatuhu), meaning “and on you be the peace (and
mercy of Allah and His blessings).” The phrase ‘salamun

s
the Quran, “And when those who believe in Our revelation
s
come to you, then say: Peace be upon you!” The Quran urge
the believer to respond more courteously and pleasantly to

the Time
of Difficulty
Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness
of Allah) is an expression one uses
when one feels guilty or wants
to prevent oneself from doing
wrong. The Prophet Muhammad
∆ sought Allah’s forgiveness more
than seventy times a day. In fact,
seeking Allah’s forgiveness is one
of the prominent signs of the true
believers.

The Patie nt Man
The Prophet Ayyub # (Job) was one of the great prophets
of Allah, born in Damascus, Syria. He was a rich and
prosperous man and had immense faith in Allah. People
felt that the Prophet Ayyub was such a faithful follower
of Allah because of his riches and that if his blessings
were taken away, he would not remain as faithful and
grateful to Allah. Allah put him to a test by destroying all
his riches, servants and family and afflicted him with an
illness which lasted for 18 years. But he remained patient
and held fast to his faith in Allah. All this pleased Allah
and He rewarded him more than before.

Dua at the Time of Distress
There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the magnificent throne.
There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, and
Lord of the earth and Lord of the glorious throne.
O Allah! For Your mercy do I hope, so leave me not to
myself for an instant and set right for me all my affairs.
There is no god except You.
O Self-subsisting, O Eternal! For Your mercy do I appeal.

the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone do we worship,
and You alone do we resort to for help.
We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
Dua to Pay off the Debts
O Allah, save me from haram and make the halal sufficient
and by Your favour make me independent from others.
Guide us to the straight path— the path of those on
whom You have bestowed favours; and not
(the path of) those who have earned Your anger
nor of those who went astray.
I seek refuge for you in the perfect words of
Allah from every satan, every harmful creature
and from every evil eye.

The Prophets and Messenger s
Mentioned in the Quran
Duas of Other
Prophets in
the Quran
Though all the prophets are not
mentioned in the Quran, we know
from the hadith that Allah sent
about one lac and twenty-four
thousand prophets from the time
of Adam to that of the Prophet
Muhammad ∂. Adam was the first
prophet of Allah. And after him
the long chain of prophets ended
with the prophethood of the
Prophet Muhammad ∂. Therefore,
the Prophet Muhammad ∂ is
known as K
or the ‘Seal of the Prophets’.
Allah would not send any more
prophets after him.

Dua of the Prophet Adam #
‫ﭒﭓﭔﭕﭖ ﭗﭘﭙﭚﭛ ﭜﭝ‬
Our Lord, we have wronged our souls; if You do not forgive us
and have mercy on us, we shall be among the lost. (Al-Araf, 7: 23)
The Use of # and ∂
It is a part of the Muslims’ duty to convey the greeting or
salam while uttering or hearing the name of a prophet. When
a prophet other than the Prophet Muhammad ∂ is mentioned,
# (alayhis-salam) is said after his name. it means ‘peace be
upon him.’ And when the name of the Prophet Muhammad ∂
is mentioned, the phrase ∆ (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is said.
This phrase means ‘peace and blessings of Allah be upon him’.
