2015
First Thursdays this Summer
Love where you live? Welcome to Sundown.
A quintessential celebration of summertime,
2015 marks the sixth year of our concert
series. The series is hosted at Ecotrust’s
Natural Capital Center, located in the heart
of Portland’s vibrant Pearl District. This year
Sundown will coincide with First Thursday, a
lively 31-year tradition highlighting Portland’s
arts and culture scene.
Free outdoor concerts bring together top local musicians—like
Typhoon, Laura Gibson, and Portland Cello Project—with our
Innovation Showcase, a lively street fair-style exhibition featuring
an array of local businesses, nonprofits, and other missionbased organizations who are changing the way we live and do
business here in the Northwest. The series provides a platform
for these organizations to share their work and create authentic
connections—all to the beat of Portland’s best independent
musical acts.
For over 20 years, Ecotrust has pioneered the way for economies,
communities, and nature to thrive together, not apart. We
envision a future in which every activity—from forestry to
farming to building cities or making widgets—builds social,
ecological, and financial value. And we believe this new economy
starts here—in our backyards, communities, cities, and regions.
Each concert focuses on a different
theme that is important to the
wellbeing of people and place.
Environmental impact is considered in every planning
decision. The series features free tap water drinking stations,
a compostable-only policy on food and beverage wares, a free
bike valet station, a solar/biodiesel/wind power source, and an
aggressive recycling and composting plan.

Sponsoring Sundown gives you access
to a community of local and regional
influencers in green building, energy
efficiency, water conservation,
alternative transportation, local food
systems, and social entrepreneurship—
the A-list of Portland’s forward-thinking
economy.
Sundown sponsors enjoy broad multi-channel exposure, a vibrant
and interactive public presence, and—of course!—all the fun of
joining one of the most innovative events of the summer. The
Innovation Showcase provides a platform to showcase your
organization’s work and create meaningful connections with a
highly engaged audience.
Ecotrust’s marketing and promotion team provides excellent
brand recognition through web, social media, radio, and good
old-fashioned print exposure. Sundown concerts receive extensive
coverage through media sponsorships with Entercom Radio, 94.7FM,
Chinook Book, and more.
Sundown takes advantage of Ecotrust’s social media reach, with
8,300 Twitter followers, 4,300 Facebook friends, and 8,700 email
subscribers. Hosting 3,000+ concert attendees over a three-month
period at the height of summer means significant public exposure
for your business or organization.
With three unique concerts featuring different bands, sponsors are
able to tap into a wide and changing demographic of attendees—
from college-age students to young families to Pearl District
neighbors and Portland professionals. Our attendees—described by
past sponsors as “early adopters”—tend to be technologically savvy,
creative, and actively interested in the environment, healthy lifestyle
options, local arts, and fun educational opportunities.

“We  Sundown”
Summertime rolls along with
Ecotrust’s excellent Sundown
series returning this season. The
conservation organization hosts an
evening of music and environmental
awareness … but the best part is the
bands that Ecotrust has lined up for
each evening … terrific lineup!
-Ned Lannamann, The Portland
Mercury
THE NEW MODERN. Live music
combines with Portlanders’ love for
the environment with the Sundown at
Ecotrust Concert Series. Local bands
offer a mix of indie rock and acoustic
funk, and the entire event is powered
by a solar/wind/biodiesel generator.
-Grant Butler, The Oregonian Summer
Events Guide
Sundown at Ecotrust Concert Series
kicks off on Thursday. What could
make combining innovative thinking
and education about the environment
with some of Portland’s most beloved
indie musicians better? Doing it
outdoors as a free concert series in
the heart of the Pearl …
-Oregon Music News
It’s not every day you get to hear a
concert powered by a solar/wind/
biodiesel generator. But that’s the
plan at Sundown at Ecotrust. Pedal
down to enjoy local music and stroll
among 40 booths, all stocked with
information about each week’s theme.
Hungry/thirsty? Hot Lips Pizza and
Laughing Planet will serve food and
libations.
-Explore the Pearl Magazine
Thanks for letting us set up at
your Sundown event! We really
appreciated it. Got to sell some
CDs and got a lot of signatures for
our Save the Salmon campaign …
Thanks again for the kind help really enjoyed the music and the nice
evening up in the big city!
- Artist4Action
Thank you … our volunteers had
a blast—nothing but praise for the
event. Thank you for inviting us … we
really appreciate the exposure and the
fun!
-Audubon Society of Portland
Thank you so very much for giving us
an opportunity to participate in such
an extraordinary event. My staff and
I are excited and looking forward to
meeting all Ecotrust leaders and the
attendees of the concert.
-EcoPro Realty
Our Ocean had a great time tabling
at three of the Ecotrust Sundown
concerts last year. I’m looking ahead
to our summer schedule and hoping
that we can secure a tabling spot for
the Protecting Water concert again …
-Our Ocean
Thanks so much for having us table
at the Ecotrust event—it was a
lot of fun and very productive for
us—we talked with lots of people
about our campaign! We’d love to
also participate in the forest themed
event …
-The Sierra Club
We had a great time last year and
found it to be fruitful.
-Sightline.com
Our team had a wonderful time last
year and accomplished some good
networking … We’re doing big things
but still such a small nonprofit.
-Wisdom of the Elders
OGC is definitely planning to be
presenting host again—it was a great
experience for us and FUN!
