The band exist for more than 15 years now, delivering untamed and powerful live-shows all over Europe. They previously released three LPs and various 7’s on THUNDERBABY RECORDS and SOUNDS OF SUBTERRANIA and now their latest LP MORE KNICK-A-KNACKS FOR YOUR BRIC-A-BRAC SHELF is released on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS. The songs ‘Beat Rakete’ (the only song with German lyrics on the album) and ‘Jacky’ are catchy hits, which you’ll find yourself playing over and over again. Fuzzy guitars, a wild Garage-attitude, a bit of 60’s organ and a great deal of trashy Punkrock-sound is what you can expect to hear on this album; all of which is recorded with vintage equipment. As usual the girls also included a few rocking cover-songs on the album: ‘I Couldn’t Care Less’ (The Modern Redcaps), ‘If I really bug you’ (Jose Feliciano), ‘Just a little Teardrop’ (The Pussycats), ‘Run Better Run’ (The Cheepskates), ‘When You Find Out’ (The Nerves), ‘I can never tell’ (The Crawdaddys), and as usual they added their own BOONARAAAS!!!-touch to it, that one simply cannot resist. MORE KNICK-A-KNACKS FOR YOUR BRIC-A-BRAC SHELF is yet another brilliant 60’s Garagepunk-record by this charming female quartet from Germany that we’ve awaited longingly. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18478 OMENS - Fuzz fades and escapades LP Soundflat Records 11,90 SOUNDFLAT RECORDS is proud to welcome the renowned four-piece Garage-Punk combo from Denver - THE OMENS - to the ‘Soundflat-family’ with their latest LP FUZZ FADES AND ESCAPADES. Through their wild liveperformances and two preceding LPs and several 7’’s released on HIPSVILLE RECORDS, they are well known to play intense, fuzzed-out, primitive Rock with some extra psychedelic influence; a raw and very American rootsdriven Garagepunk-band. FUZZ FADES AND ESCAPADES is an album that will thrill you all! All eleven songs are the band’s own compositions. Wild guitars, shaking beats, screaming vocals and here and there a few swirling organ elements. While songs like ‘Settle Down’ or ‘You’re No Good’ are savage, fast 60’s Garagepunk-songs, ‘On Your Mind’ for instance is more of a Pop-Punkhymn and ‘So Far Down’ again has more psychedelic elements. The powerful energy the band always conveys on stage is excellently reflected on this noisy Garagepunk-record. FUZZ FADES AND ESCAPADES by THE OMENS is a killer-album and strong combination of R&B, Beat and GaragePsych-Punk that will make each and every one of you go wild! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18548 SHOOK-UPS! - Bad reception LP Soundflat Records 11,90 After THE STAGS, Wigan has a new musical gem to offer now: THE SHOOK-UPS! play finest amped-up Garagerock with a psychedelic influence in the manner of bands like THE MUSIC MACHINE or THE SEEDS. Anyone who’s seen them play live before will know how amazing and at the same time funny their shows are; a perfect sound paired with some entertaining, eccentric and infectious dancefloor action! The band is made up of ex-members of MOCO, THE STAGS, DOKTOR COMBOVER and The V.C.s and released their debut 7’’ on ROTOSONIC RECORDS in a very limited edition. Their first LP BAD RECEPTION is now released on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS. This album will captivate you immediately with its dirty fuzz grooves, pounding beats, a lot of farfisa organ and a psychedelic touch. Songs such as ‘Second to None’ and ‘New Confession’ sound as if they were missing songs on the Pebblesor Back From The Grave- Compilations; these guys from North West England definitely know how to write and make great music, that makes you dance and jump. Aside from their own compositions they included a superb cover-version of the Garagepunk-classic ‘No reason to complain’ by THE ALARM CLOCKS. If you like fuzzy, organ driven 60’s Garagepunk with psych-elements you will love THE SHOOK-UPS! with their fantastic debut album BAD RECEPTION! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18547 V/A - Soundflat Records Ballroom Bash! Vol. 6 CD Soundflat Records 6,90 Here it comes: volume 6 of the supplementary CD-compilation of Soundflat Records’ annual label festival, the BALLROOM BASH! As usual you get a fantastic musical synopsis of this wild weekend; each of the six performing bands (The Omens, The Minnesota Voodoo Men, The Jackets, The Shook-Ups, The Boonaraaas!!!, The Cavemen V) picked four songs for this low-priced CD, some of which are previously unreleased. This is not only a must-havesouvenir for every Ballroom Basher, but also a wonderful mixture of contemporary 60’s Garagepunk/Merseybeat/ Hammond/R&B/R’n’R-bands, which all released some fine music on the 10year-old label http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18549 2) Screaming Apple Records ROYAL HANGMEN - Same (Black Vinyl) LP Screaming Apple 12,50 UPCOMING!!! CD out 14-11-12, vinyl a week later!! Are you ready for another wylde garage-punk extravaganza? Do you fancy some hip-shakin’ 60’s Beat, too? Or maybe, you just wanna dance ecstatically, shout and scream in frenzy? Rightly so, then we certainly can help you out with the first long-playing record by Switzerland’s one and only kingly renowned garage band - THE ROYAL HANGMEN. The album contains 11 self-penned songs, full of tempestuous and raw energy, with plenty of hooklines, verve and style. Songs that are soaked with a sixties spirit, but were made in the here and now. It’s all in there: fuzz-guitars, VOX organs, snarling vocals, throbbing bass and rattling drums - always short, tight and efficient. And that’s exactly how the odd garage record should sound. Their self-titled debut was painstakingly produced by David Langhard (aka Admiral James T.) with much love for the detail and with heavy use of analogue equipment. Hailing from Zurich, THE ROYAL HANGMEN started eight years ago to proclaim the gospel of garage rock. First a simple cover-band, they soon found their own style and tunes and finally some attention amongst the international 60’s/retro scene. Their first 45 single Mary Jane was released back in 2009 on Greek label Lost In Tyme. Lots of concerts in France and native Switzerland followed thereafter, culminating in a support slot for the mighty SONICS. It took them some time to record their first proper album, but it was definitely worth the wait. So get on your go-go boots, put that marvellous wax on the turntable and shake your hips to the driving Turn Me On, the frantic Mary Jane, the melodic She’s Gone or Get Out Of My Way and all the other smashing tracks on this record, until you reach the final comedown with the moody, psychedelic “Wake Up”. What a trip. If you go bananas listening to bands like the SHADOWS OF KNIGHT, the ZAKARY THAKS, the BAD SEEDS, the CYNICS and the STAGGERS, this one’s for you babe! It’s fab! It’s groovy - It’s THE ROYAL HANGMEN! Now - exclusively on Screaming Apple Records (Germany) http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18653 SUGAR STEMS - Can’t wait (Black Vinyl) LP Screaming Apple 12,50 UPCOMING!!! BLACK VINYL!! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18656 SUGAR STEMS - Can’t wait (lim.100 col.) LP Screaming Apple 12,50 UPCOMING!!! THIS IS THE LIMITED EDITION: 100 COPIES ONLY, WHITE VINYL!! ONLY AVAILABLE AT SOUNDFLAT!! Could there be a title more suitable for a new record by our beloved SUGAR STEMS than “Can’t Wait”? This is exactly how most of us - i.e. people with a soft spot for a well-crafted, non-pretentious pop-song - felt constantly while we have been eagerly awaiting a new album by Milwaukee’s finest. Granted, there have been two singles released on Certified PR a little earlier this year which ripped every powerpop-aficionado apart, but in a cultural realm that is filled with flavorless white bread, possibly not even a SUGAR STEMS single could fill your belly. So we digested that charmingly poppy gems pretty soon and have been hungry for more of their artistic handcraft since. And here we are, the probably best contemporary powerpop-outfit once again has put superhuman power in its creative genius and will hit your taste with a hit load of bullets, each and everyone of which would make up for a potential single’s a-side and chart-stormer if this was a better world. Shout it from the top of a roof, The Wisconsin Sugar Rush rampants without restraint; it will get you hooked on an overall buzzing sound and insanely catchy vocals as sweet as cotton candy, on pumping basslines and cracking drums - driven by a firecracker lead guitar. Their sound is enriched with tons of brilliant melodies and euphoric harmonies to the maximum; Drew and Betsy’s two-part singing chimes together as perfectly as you might expect from a band that we put faith in as the saving grace of rock’n’roll. And by rock’n’roll I mean that kind of music that you feel familiar with, that you hear for the first time and wish you had listen to while growing up. Certainly, it would have carried you through all the hardships as well as all the emotional high points of adolescence. Weeping yourself to sleep, giving your first love a peck, waiting for the bus on a sunny September day - THE SUGAR STEMS deliver the proper soundtrack for any romanticized image of teenage, but still they should not and cannot be reducible to the naive idea of bubblegummy, empty pop-suit bought off the peg. It’s the serious approach to a feel-good-sound that is alive in the here and now, that will make you wanna canoodle your beloved no matter what age you are, and, above all, that stood the test of time. They are like a bubblegum that would never lose its taste, they are the re-embodiment of twangy, infectious Midwest-powerpop soaked in deliriously sweet melodies, they epitomize the glory your favorite ‘50s and ‘60s nuggets established decades ago, they deliver lyrics that oscillate between edgy, sneering smartness and lovelorn rhapsody and which are of a kind that everybody can relate to. Yet again, to put it in one term, the SUGAR STEMS are splendid! Big time! You will dig this record, unless you are a Martian. Well, perhaps even most Martians will dig “Can’t Wait”. Dear SUGAR STEMS, if your music was a house, I’d live in it. Yours truly, Matti Bildt http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18657 2) Garage / Mod / Surf / Neorockabilly 22 PISTEPIRKKO - The singles 5XCD+DVD Bone Voyage 39,50 Whether for the fan or the novice of this Finnish trio extraordinaire: Here’s the ultimate set of 22-Pistepirkko, compiled due to (re-)explore their unique character and follow them through their juggle with Garage R’n’R, Pop, Rock, Electronica, Blues, Psychedelic, Folk and the unexplored, spanning from 1986 to 2012, (incl. unreleased single Storm Radio”). His cult status started after publishing some of the best Spanish pop songs ever with Cosecha Roja in the 1990’s. Silence followed for some years but Carlos is back with a brand new lp full of talent, a collection of sparkling pop melodies, sometimes intimate chants, sometimes powerful anthems, well-crafted arrangements and echoes of Chris Wilson, Peter Case, Roy Loney, Jeff Murphy a real master! Exquisite edition in 180gr vinyl + free cd version! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18616 CARLTON MELTON - Photos of photos - deluxe DoLP Agitated 27,90 500 LP black vinyl w/ bonus 2 Track 12” / gatefold sleeve / MP3 Postcard. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18454 CARLTON MELTON - Photos of photos CD Agitated 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18456 CARLTON MELTON - Photos of photos LP Agitated 19,90 500 LP clear vinyl / gatefold sleeve / MP3 Postcard. Mastered and featuring John McBain (Monster Magnet, Well Water Conspiracy). Photos of Photos sees Carlton Melton take their organic improvised psych-jam to the highest sonic plane befitting the geodesic dome in which it was recorded and pulverizing the psychedelic hypno-drone that has come before. Photos of Photos is a testament of Carlton Melton’s ability to bottle and hone their craft with sincerity - from the lush pastoral sonics of ‘Nor’, ‘ Easter’ and title track, ‘Photos of Photos’ the smoldering gargantuan riffs of ‘Space Treader’ and the synth drones and spare rhythms of LP closer ‘Wingspan’. Carlton Melton meld -what could be a heavy indecipherable psychedelic mess - into something louder, more uncompromising and more coherent: ‘Melton’s Magick Karpet ride’. Bonus tracks (available on CD and download) - featuring McBain on guitar/synth/ echoplex - include the full 23 minute psychedelically enhanced drone ‘Drift’ that peaks and dips as the title suggests and ‘Smoke Drip’ sounds exactly how you imagine a song called ‘Smoke Drip’ to sound. And that is exactly what Photos of Photos is about: the SOUND, the VIBE, a new age drifting, unchartered, across a sonic expanse. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18455 CAYUCAS - Cayucos 7 Secretly Canadian 6,90 With a nod to 60’s beach blanket pop gems and bonfire folk songs, Cayucas hits the waves runnin’, causing involuntary head bobs, finger snaps, toe-taps and the ability to shake your booty like it’s strapped to a brand new set of maracas. Producer/multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift deftly captures Yudin’s inimitable voice as it echoes through the barrel of the perfect wave. It’s a song for the ages for sure. The B-side “Swimsuit” continues to carry the torch, with its cocktail-lounge organ flourishes painting a picture of young, carefree days spent pining for your summer love. Enjoy just a hint of the party that’s still to come, and let Cayucas take you to your inner sanctum where there’s always sunshine, and a Pina Colada is always a good idea. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18542 COWBELL - Beat stampede CD Damaged Goods 13,20 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18529 COWBELL - Beat stampede LP Damaged Goods 13,90 COWBELL are Jack Sandham and Wednesday Lyle. The duo play garage/soul/rock’n’roll and write songs that combine a lyrical charm and ease with a sound that’s full-bodied and powerful in spite of their stripped-down set-up. They take their influences from both sides of the Atlantic with a love for both the output of U.S labels such as Stax, Motown and Sun and for British sixties R&B bands such as The Small Faces, The Kinks and The Zombies. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18521 DOMNICKS - Super real CD Citadel 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18562 DOMNICKS - Super real LP Citadel 17,90 Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger ‘n’ roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard’s pedigree boasts 80’s Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones’ replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. In 2007 the pair teamed up with Howard Shawcross (The Elks, The Riptides) on bass and Marz Frisina on drums, quickly developing into a very ‘hang loose’ combo. Playing a mix of Dom and Nick’s originals with a spread of 60’s and 70’s garage and soul classics, they are a band of seasoned players punching well above their collective musical weight. Super Real continues in the tradition of The DomNicks’ previous recording, Hey Rock ‘n’ Roller (Off The Hip 2009). Expanding on Hey Rock ‘n’ Roller’s gutsy guitar driven sound, Super Real takes a ride through blues, soul, funk, and classic guitar pop influences to create one seamless musical journey fuelled by the vim and vigour of a noble era. Among the 12 tracks you’ll find the Exile era Stones’ sound of Reconcile, the brazen brass and swing of Let’s Go Baby, soul flavours in I Wonder What You’re Doin’ Now, the straight ahead rollicking of Miracle and tantalising twists and turns of the electric sitar driven Winter. It’s bound to cause the head and heart to shake. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18563 DRAGSTERS - Wow wow wee wah CD Interestelar de Discos 12,50 New CD by one of the best bands in Spain. This second edition comes with new artwork designed by Jacco himself. The fact of finding someone right in the XXI century trying to revive the best essences of baroque and psychedelic pop certainly seems mad. That madness that has been transmitted pure and vigorous from Syd Barrett or Billy Nicholls, from Brian Wilson or the ‘Odyssey and Oracle’ Zombies. This way Jacco Gardner stands out as the best-kept secret of this lineage of aesthetes and craftsmen devoted to melodic beauty. Known as the 50% of the amazing Skywalkers, finally we will have the chance to taste the quality as a composer and as a music player of this gifted musician thanks to Action Weekend Records & Sunny Day Records. Two timeless popsike jewels that could have been written last night or four decades and a half ago. After all, psychedelia is nothing but mentally getting lost in the night of times. The delightful languor of ‘Clear The Air’ and the syncopated rhythm of ‘A House On The Moon’ seem to be built under the dreamlike mantle of an intoxicating and lysergic mist, all adorned by the wise hands of sound engineer and producer Jean Audier, one of the myths of Dutch 60’s garage and psychedelia (Q65, Golden Earrings or The Motions put their music in their hands). Gardner’s music is linked with late XIX century symbolism and early XX century modernism, those rebel movements that fought against the colorless mediocrity of their surrounding society, shutting themselves off armed with their creative gifts to aspire to the highest of all the states of mind: the aesthetic. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18614 JANOVITZ, BILL - Up here CD Fire 14,70 Bill Janovitz’ first solo album, ‘Lonesome Billy’, was a far cry from the passionate guitar clatter of his best-known work with Buffalo Tom, and his second set away from the band, ‘Up Here’, is an even greater departure into a quieter and more delicate approach. While the playful atmospherics of ‘Lonesome Billy’ suggested a smart guy’s approach to alt-country, ‘Up There’ is a good bit more introspective and folk-oriented, with cleaner textures and arrangements that are often structured around nothing more than Janovitz’ acoustic guitar and Phil Aiken’s keyboards. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18532 JOHN WESLEY HARDING - John Wesley Harding’s new deal DoLP Yep Roc 19,90 The unexpectedly introspective album that instantly became a fan favorite ++ 1st Time On Vinyl ++ Includes Digital Download of 15 bonus tracks, 10 never before released ++ Gatefold 2xLP - 180 Gram Vinyl ++ Produced, arranged and mixed by Chris Von Sneidern and John Wesley Harding ++ John Wesley Harding’s New Deal, originally released by Rhino in 1996, and here released for the first time on vinyl, was the songwriter’s first album away from Sire, after the early 90’s trilogy of Here Comes The Groom, The Name Above The Title and Why We Fight. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18460 JOHN WESLEY HARDING & ENGLISH UK - Making love to 12 Yep Roc 19,90 UPCOMING!! McCaughey emailed back: “There is room in the world for this lyric!” Months later, McCaughey handed Harding a tune. Harding and The English UK recorded the song, along with its matching double A-side “The Buzz”, one sunny afternoon in Brooklyn, 11th June 2012. And now he’s sharing it with you. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18543 KING SALAMI & THE CUMBERLAND 3 - Bloody mary 7 Folc Records 6,90 They’re ther best and most explosive band emerged from Europe in the last decade. After several singles and one LP on labels all over Europe, they’ve become the latest R&B-punk sensation and make crowds enjoy wherever they go with a repertoire that includes 50’s and 60’s sounds that will put your feet into action till your shoes burn out!. The King leads his Cumberland posse with dance moves and chanting to a bacchanal of partying and beer from which you won’t be able to escape, a party spiced up by sounds ranging from Screamin’ Jay Hawkins crazy Rhytm’n’Blues to the wild rhythms of Bo Diddley or Andre Williams. This 7’ includes a cover of their (and our) beloved Barrence Whitfield & The Savages, and another of American garage legend, Crawdaddys. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18505 LOS CHICOS - We sound acoustic 7 Folc Records 6,90 On June of 2010, Los Chicos were interviewed on ‘Hoy Empieza Todo’, in Radio 3, Spain’s National Radio and there they played 5 of their songs on acoustic format with banjo, washboard, mandolin and acoustic guitar. Among jokes, releasing an ep with these songs was discussed on the air, but there are certain things you should not joke about with Los Chicos because they’ll do it, so, despite the tardiness, here are those 5 songs recorded live in one take, just the way they were broadcasted, and only mastered by that American genius called Mike Mariconda, to make these 45 rpm vinyl slices sound like old American music does. That is what you’ll find here: country, redneck, hick covers of five songs from different moments of Los Chicos career. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18499 LOS IMPOSIBLES - Snake eyes 7 Sunny Day 6,20 Raised in the world-famous Madrid rockandroll neighbourhood of Malasana in the late 80s, these guys swam against the tide from the beginning. While everybody was into the garage revival, what they really liked was The Beatles, Los Brincos, The Byrds or The Animals... they were in love with beat, r&b and folk-rock, waht could they do? Later they experimented with psychedelia, created a delightful “poperetta” (one of the truly masterpieces of Spanish pop) and went back to roots dancing to black sounds until they decided to take a rest of 10 years! ... they came back in good shape in 2007 bringing a perfect powerpop record under their arms and found their natural home in Sunny Day Records. In 2011 they gave us the wonderful ‘En Espiral’, a masterpiece with great pop compositions, garage shouts, psychedelic flavours, Spanish beat, a touch of soul music and hammond-ladden instro dancers. A colourful palette to show all that’s in the band’s heart & soul. From those recording sessions we have rescued two unissued cuts. An alternative version of ‘Little Joe’ (previously included in ‘En Espiral’) re-recorded with Spanish ‘doo rag’ kings, Los Caballos de Duesseldorf’, plus a wild instro killer full of sitar, bongoes and organ to burn the dancefloor! Ltd. edition 300 copies. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18621 MAD MONK & APACHE DROPOUT - My wild life 7 Family vineyard 5,20 Mad Monk is John Terrill, original member of the late ‘70s new/no wave Dancing Cigarettes and veteran of many stripped down Hoosier groups since. As an ace singer/songwriter and eternal student of rock ‘ roll’s high/gulcher culture, he’s kept a criminally low profile snug in the Midwest despite drawing attention from songwriter Bill Fay and other major/minor music heads. This platter lines up the Monk’s two newest biographical orchestrations -- and a Velvet Underground bootleg favorite -- with the freakbeat backup of Apache Dropout -- fresh off their Trouble In Mind album. In blasted proto-style the Monk takes on his past (“My Wild Life”), drink of choice (“Double Shot of Brandy”) and a tune that bridges Apache Dropout’s boogie and avant-garde notions (“I’m Not a Young Man Anymore”). Comes in full color sleeve with download code in edition of 500 copies. Recorded in mono by John Dawson and Lord Fyre at Magnetic South on analogue equipment. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18537 MARTINI SURFERS - Welcome to martini land 7 Butterfly Records 5,20 Barcelona premier surf, rhythm & blues and beat combo. 3 fresh British-flavored instro sounds and one rockin’ vocal track. Now we get the confirmation that we face a band with a bright future ahead. 4 new shots of pure r&b-soul, but hey, forget about those r&b that actually are 60’s punk, these guys are purist in what they do, this is the real black deal. Do you remember the Breadmakers from Australia? These guys do. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18620 MONKEY ISLAND / DUBLO - Defunctus est/baby don’t blues 10 L13 10,50 A split 10” that looks back at two British bands in a garage/r’n’b style. Pressed on deluxe 10-inch vinyl, from handcut masters, and housed in individually-numbered hand-printed sleeves, each collectable disc comes complete with a free download code for the more, uhm, modern among you. Released on a label whose roster includes Billy Childish, James Cauty and Jamie Reid, this release reads like a Who’s Who of underground pioneers and media certified outsiders. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18630 NICOTINES ORCHESTRA - Open water 7 Folc Records 6,20 In the last few months this band from Portugal has released two albums, ‘Ghosts & Spirits’ and ‘Open Water’, and for their debut on vinyl they have this 7’, a co-production between Folc and Hey! Pachuco Records. It’s the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and hyperactive Nick Nicotine, member of the legendary garage band The Act-Ups, and director of the internationally acclaimed Barreiro Rocks Festival. Nicotine records all instruments and voices on a collection of great songs, a ‘real jukebox of soul and rock classics that history still doesn’t know’, in the words of Mário Lopes of Ipsilon. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18502 OSCAR AVENDANO - Same 10+CD Folc Records 13,90 Oscar Avendano, member of Siniestro Total (one of the most important bands in Spain for the last 30 years) since 2001, has also been a member of many other bands as guitarist, bassist or singer for the last 20 years. He now releases his first solo album, recorded in collaboration with real top musicians, with special mention to Los Ronaldos’ rhythm section. Acoustic R&R, with the necessary touches of electricity, exquisite guitars and most important, with brilliant songs. It comes close to, just to mention a couple of nationals, Josele Santiago’s and Los Deltonos’ latest albums, in the way of focusing everything on highlighting the song, with precise and sound arrangements, that resembles what Nick Lowe has been doing the last decade. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18503 PHANTOM KEYS - Gloria’s nightmare 7 Folc Records 6,90 The latest big european garage band comes from our country. Their latest album has revealed itself as the 2012 world’s garage sensation. They saved up two hits for this 7’ from the same recording session, one original and a cover of the great Roy Head. If you like the early Stones, the Yardbirds or Van Morrison’s Them, you should get two copies of this jewel since you’ll be wearing one out from endless listening. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18497 PROPHET, CHUCK - Castro halloween 7 Yep Roc 8,20 How many great songs do you know about Halloween? Well, rest assured, you’ll soon be adding Chuck Prophet’s “Castro Halloween” at or near the top of your list. Tis the season, let’s get festive with a limited edition 7” on pumpkinorange vinyl. “Castro Halloween” is the first physical single from Chuck’s latest album, “Temple Beautiful”, the much lauded ode to his hometown of San Francisco. The B-Side, “I Gotta Get Back”, was recorded during the Temple Beautiful sessions, but didn’t quite fit with the album’s theme. However it does fit well into Prophet’s cannon of great rock n roll songs. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18639 REAL MCCOYSON - Hot on my trail 7 Folc Records 5,50 They were the best garage-rock’n’roll band in Spain, and, without a doubt, one of the best of all Europe during the beginning of this century. They return now with the addition of one of the most important rock’n’roll musicians and producers in the USA during the 80’s and ‘90s, Mike Mariconda (Raunch Hands/Devil Dogs), on second guitar. No band could be more energetic than on these two great songs. Call it what you want: garage punk, rhythm & blues, pub rock, it doesn’t matter just enjoy it. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18496 RIPPERS - Better the devil you know LP Slovenly 14,90 Calling all mods, rockers and punk-ass freaks everywhere! It’s time to get suited up for the brand new rave-up from Sardinian freakbeat delinquents The Rippers! The bastard sons of the early Rolling Stones and Pretty Things, The Rippers are back with a full length wallop called “Better The Devil You Know,” and Slovenly is psyched as fuck-all to present it to our world-wide crew of creepy rock’n’roll disciples! Recalling the nastiest records 90s legends The Makers put out before they turned into Elton John, Rippers 1, 2, 3 & 4 (that’s their names, dammit!) blaze through eleven tracks of hyper-speed 1960s style rhythm & beat shakers delivered with the deadliest of punk snarl, fully raunched-out harmonica wail, drum beats tighter than their own pegged trousers, and their signature stinging stringbending wickedry. This is just the right kick for amp cranking and speaker worshipping, floor stomping and ass shaking: Ultra-sonic rock’n’roll assault for with-it kids, so blast it, bastids! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18663 SETTING SON - Before I eat my eyes & ears LP+CD Bad Afro Records 16,50 The third album by The Setting Son, a project that started out as a solo project for Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen who recorded more than 50 songs in his flat in Copenhagen on his 4-track tape recorder. Lorenzo Woodrose from Baby Woodrose got hold of the tapes and handed them over to Bad Afro Records, who released the first two albums with Lorenzo Woodrose as producer. The Setting Son have since then become a real band with their own take on psychedelic garage pop that is both blue-eyed and bittersweet. The songwriter, Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen has an ear for good tunes, and his characteristic voice and songwriting skills make The Setting Son stand out among the many bands today that are inspired by psychedelic music from the ‘60s. ‘Before I Eat My Eyes & Ears’ is more varied than the early material and more time has been spent on the details. The album is produced by Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen and The Setting Son in the Orangeriet studio in Copenhagen and the result is a more mature record that showcases another side of their talent. Comes with the complete album on CD as well..! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18451 SHEETAH ET LES WEISSMULLER - Evolucion francaise CD Discofusion 14,20 Now also on CD, digipack, 20 page booklet, same tracklist as vinyl! French beat maestros Sheetah et les Weissmuller are back with their new psychedelic album Evolution Francaise. Filled with 11 original compositions recorded at Circo Perrotti Studios (Gijon, Spain) by Jorge Explosion and Mike Mariconda, this LP explores the acid side of the combo : sitars, fuzz, horns, strings, tablas and strange effects surround bitter-sweet songs paying tribute to Love, Bonniwell Music Machine, the Beatles or les Fleurs de Pavot. Containing garage anthems (la Mauvaise Graine, Yin Yang Young, Elle n’aime qu’elle-meme), acid daydreams (Lundisamedimache, Alone in the Sun, Coffee and Tea) or a lysergic tango (Suzanne ouvre-toi), Evolution Francaise is an hallucinating kaleidoscope of addictive sounds. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18486 SKEPTICS - File under fuzz punk LP Moody Monkey 12,70 Cryptic fuzz punk meets 60s influenced garage weirdos: no cliches, just super original super raw garage tunes. THE SKEPTICS are a unique one-man creation interpreted live by a French-Belgian three-piece combo. Already wellknown in the international garage scene: two 7’ on Frantic City Records (B), another one on Cheap Pea Records (USA), various European tours, reviews in Bananas Magazine (USA), City Trash (NL), Rock Hardi (F), Lost in Tyme (GR), etc. This album is a must-have for all garage freaks interested in NOW! music, and will do pretty well too on any turntable. Extremely exciting. 14 killers on vinyl to be filed under Fuzz Punk! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18642 SKURKANA - A crimewave escapade LP Heptown 15,50 Heptown Records are proud to present “A Crimewave Escapade”; twelve twangy and distorted tales about what is really happening in the dark and shady streets of Gothenburg City. The perfect album to listen to when driving late at night, with someone screaming in the back of your trunk. Imagine Link Wray robbing a bank while hallucinating on mescaline. That is probably the closest you will ever come to describe Skurkarna. And that is probably the best way to define their unique sound, which they call “Crime-Rock”; an all instrumental and delinquent form of rock n’ roll; designed to delude the minds of law abiding citizens. Skurkarna is an all instrumental “Crime-Rock” outfit from parts unknown. Some call them criminally insane. Others describe them as a much needed remedy for the dull and static social rules of a government controlled society. Formed in 2009, with members of The Hollywoods, The Archers and The Pricks. “You band are the best in world!” - an old truck driver after show in Latvia. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18533 SNAILS - Heartbreaker 7 Action 5,50 Debut 7’’ from THE SNAILS, a garage band from Athes,Greece. Their debut album entitled “The Snails” contains fourteen tracks(eleven of them self penned) through a blend of garage kicks, sixties psych mythology and punk insolence. Solid rhythm section,hell-fuzzed guitars, haunted vocals and possessed harmonica to blow your mind. Some wyld childs are dancing with the zombies plus some “exotica” touches on Haifa Nights and Surfazat, plus Dove and Tide, the rather moody Coffin and Tramp an 80s psyche revival song Keeping the faith of what they love, the band makes brilliant covers in three classics: Im Five Years Ahead Of My Time, Gypsy Woman (additional vocals by Angel Lo Verde and Dimitris Beleniotis from the legendary Cardinals) and Satisfaction Guaranteed. Probably their riot-sparking live show, right? Visions of a guitar-chewing, speaker-smothering, tongue-wagging John Dwyer careening across your cranium, chased by a wild-eyed wrecking crew that drives every last hook home like it’s a nail in the coffin of what one thought it meant to make 21st century rock ‘n’ roll? http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18448 THEE OUTLETS - Halloween bash 7 Moody Monkey 5,90 THEE OUTLETS, today’s so-called Garage Punk Sensation from Hamburg St. Pauli with their second release, a HALLOWEEN smasher offering two A-sides: MY MONKEY MAN (Kerstin Holzwarth), a sexy Bo-Diddleyish fecundity ode, and VAMPIRE OF MINE (Cecile Musy) which beams you back in the ol’ bad spooky world of Screaming Lord Sutch. Both of these dancing tunes were written by Thee Outlets, recorded at the Yeah!Yeah!Yeah! studios in Hamburg and come in a beautiful sleeve created by star illustrator Jean-Francois Martin in person! The Clams (Something’s Got a Hold on Me, by Etta James), an all female soul/r&b combo. Lord Rochester (Crawdad by Bo Diddley), Russ Wilkins’ band, a British garage legend (Wildebeests, Thee Milkshakes and Pop Rivets with Billy Childish). Chandler & the Chasers (Promise Land by Chuck Berry), from New York, Mike Chandler’s, singer of the legendary Raunch Hands, latest adventure to date. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18500 VIBEKE SAUGESTAD med THE SHAKE SET - Jeg ser i din hand 7 Jansen Plateproduksjon 9,90 UPCOMING!! AWESOME DELUXE EP!!! This is a curious, new EP: Vibeke Saugestad accompanied by beat band Peter Berry & The Shake Set. After several years of talking about it, the constellation came together, and the collaboration revealed itself on the back of a lorry during the summer of 2010. This performance immediately prompted a popular demand for an album, and now it’s finally ready for release. The EP, which is recorded live at ToeRag Studios in London, contains four tracks. Three of these are a nod to previous Norwegian pop releases (with Grynet Molvig, Toril Stoa and Laila Granum respectively), all from the sixties. The fourth is a British beat tune, translated into Norwegian for the first time - especially for this occasion. Vibeke and The Shake Set have found pop gems that never got their deserved time to shine, but with The Shake Set’s beat packaging and Vibeke Saugestad’s distinct, strong voice, they will most likely rocket up Norway’s hit lists. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18658 WILD BILLY CHILDISH & THE SPARTAN DREGGS - We Spartan 7 Damaged Goods 5,50 LIMITED 7” SINGLE WITH 2 TRACKS FROM THE NEW BILLY CHILDISH TRILOGY OF LP’S DUE OUT IN LATE NOVEMBER 2012. Damaged Goods are proud to announce the release of 2 brand new LPs by BILLY CHILDISH & THE SPARTAN DREGGS, and a 3rd Lp for free. By collecting tokens cut from the sleeves of “Dreggredation” and “Coastal Command” fans can claim a 3rd LP “Tablets of Linear B” for free. (If people want the free LP, they have to cut the two tokens off of the sleeve of these two albums and post them into DG to claim their free copy, really!) Through these abridged popular classics and examples from the Histories, THE SPARTAN DREGGS elevate mere popular music-making to a level equal - and adjacent to - high art. Some may find the didactic of these Spartanists quite informal, others may chide them for their high sentiments, but we assure the listener that signifying proper literature with love is no simpleton’s textbook. After all, recognising foolishness across the epochs is no small answer to life’s obstinate mysteries. So, be inspired by the harsh melodies and right-sounding notes of Dreggredation and the imagination will flower as a dog rose, leaving the listener emboldened sufficiently to see that she is already whole and complete and in no need of action or ‘doing’. Furthermore, should the aforementioned listener accept THE SPARTAN DREGGS’ rendering of The Rage of Achilles - an epic of manifold marvel and wonder - they may perchance see how it is possible to move beyond impotence and invent a new and entirely original form from old worn robes and shards of ancient ceramic. Likewise, though “Tablets of Linear B” (formerly The Siege of Thebes) may upon first encounter appear to offer nothing but ‘a glove in the face of the most stalwart Spartanist’, be assured the artist known as THE SPARTAN DREGGS would never serve as supper what the hungry traveller’s stomach could not with practice, learn to tolerate and eventually grow to love. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18635 WILLIAMS, ANDRE - Life CD Alive 15,70 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18453 WILLIAMS, ANDRE - Life LP Alive 16,90 Andre Williams began a very prolific and creative phase of his life when he finally got off booze and drugs. His intake of various substances was excessive, unrelenting, and dated back to at least the 1960’s, when he was working extensively with Ike Turner. Reflecting on his very first drug-and-alcohol-free studio session in 2009, Andre says, “It was traumatic. It was like someone shot me out in space and I woke up on Pluto!” Andre Williams’ new album “Life” was recorded this past winter in Detroit, the city where his musical career first began in the 1950’s. Andre’s new songs are his latest experiments and explorations outside of the garage-soul bag that he’s often associated with. Produced by Matthew Smith, the album’s sonic palette recalls the work of Norman Whitfield’s Motown productions, 70’s Rolling Stones, Can, Bill Withers, Serge Gainsbourg, as well as Andre’s own doo-wop and funk history. “Life” finds Andre in a pretty upbeat mood, whether he’s singing about people being rude and impatient (“But’n”), or laying down a political commentary (“Blame it on Obama”), reciting a children’s bedtime story (“Ty the Fly”), singing a simple love song (“Stuck in the Middle”, “It’s Only You That I Love”), or conjuring a nocturnal fetish-sex-groove (“Heels”). The album also includes his own definitive rocking version of the standard he wrote and produced for the Five Du-Tones in 1963, “Shake a Tail Feather”. It’s a remind-er that Andre Williams is one of the original guys who invented rock n’ roll. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18452 WOLRUS - Wooden tapes LP No Label 16,50 First lp by this amazing superband from Galicia raised from the ashes of some of the best Spanish pop bands of the last years. A delightful trip back to the late 60’s and early 70’s where Grand-Canyoncountry- pop meets Brill Building pop meets Peter Dello delicacy meets CCR rock’n’roll feeling. It’s difficult to find nowadays bands with such a good taste and talent, their one of the chosen few. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18615 3) Punkrock / Power Pop ACID EATERS - Radio 77 7 No Front Teeth 5,50 Killer punk rock from Italy with a genuinely old fashioned sound of classic ‘77 punk rock and powerpop. Think a blend of The Boys, Buzzcocks, Heartbreakers and more recently, the Snazzy Boys and Cute Lepers - very addictive indeed. This is fun, energetic punk rock that you will will want to spin again and again until you can hear the fluid in your head. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18511 ADVERTS - Anthology DoCD Fire 12,50 “Anthology” might well be the best Adverts album you’ll ever find -- bar none. There are no surprises within the track listing, nor are there any omissions. Between 1977 and their split in 1979, The Adverts recorded 26 songs, spread across seven singles and two albums, and all of them are here. Where things get interesting is in compiler (and lead vocalist) TV Smith’s decision to draw the 26 from across the group’s entire vocabulary. Several of the singles appeared in decidedly different versions on LP -- Smith selects whichever he thinks was most representative. Other familiar takes are replaced by BBC session versions: The Adverts made four appearances on John Peel’s nightly show, and the highlights here, all dating from their 1978-1979 sessions, are genuinely among the best things the band recorded. Finally, anybody nursing happy memories of The Adverts’ live sound will be thrilled by the inclusion of a bonus disc repeating a dozen songs from a show in early 1977. (Originally released as Live at the Roxy, the fully remastered disc has been accurately retitled NOT Live at the Roxy -- it actually dates from a show somewhere else entirely). Thrilling, too, is the accompanying booklet, featuring Smith’s own thoughts on each of the songs, together with a clutch of previously unpublished photos by Ray Stevenson, a full discography, and line-up info. In other words, it’s precisely the kind of all-encompassing document that this most precious of first-wave punk bands has been crying out for all along. Best-of albums simply don’t get better than this. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18538 BAKER, KURT - Want you around 7 Jolly Ronnie 5,90 Want You Around is the latest offering from rock/punk/pop savant KURT BAKER, and want it around you shall! Sashaying forth five-hundred-strong in an initial pressing on stunning baby blue vinyl, Want You Around features all the power, harmony, and friggin’ savoir faire one’s come to expect from this Maine-based tunesmith. Leading off with a title track dating back to Kurt’s days with the LEFTOVERS, Want You Around ((the record)) wastes little time in titillating the user’s privates with ‘Want You Around’ ((the song)), a power pop epistle of the morse-code-guitarsand-harmonies tenor that sounds like it coulda been someone’s breakout FM hit in 1981, if God were thirty years younger and wore Converse All-Stars instead of sandals. An additional value-add comes in the form of guest vocals by Dan Vapid, who apparently wants you around as well. None can ask fairer than that! The platter is rounded out by lights-out covers of the new wave/power pop classic ‘News At Ten’ by THE VAPORS, the slightly less-classic ‘Sleeping With The Television On’ by BILLY JOEL, and the not-so-much-classic-as-epic ‘Hollywood’ by THIN LIZZY. The digital download also includes the original demo version of ‘Want You Around’ by the LEFTOVERS; the vinyl comes with the digital download AND a sticker AND inter-song narration by the ever-nattering Rev. Norb. Trust us: You’ll want this around! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18571 BLACK, PETER - No dangerous gods in tunnel CD Citadel 11,90 “What’da mean, difficult second album! This is no way to start an interview.” Peter Black (aka Blackie from the Hard-Ons and Nunchukka Superfly) is talking about his recently finished second solo album No Dangerous Gods In Tunnel. “Actually the first album was testing the solo ‘waters’. This second one is a lot more rep-resent-a-tive of where I wanna be with the acoustic stuff man. Mind you, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna change my mind again down the track.” Hmmm, down the track he says. Meaning? Possibly that a ‘solo’ project is a totally free artistic extension that can take any shape and form. Says Peter... “Look, ya tiring me out with all this hoo haa. Why can’t music just be music!” Well, good point I guess, because that’s what this album really is. “To me it is just pop, but raw, because with the acoustic ya can’t ‘fill’ in bits with clever instrumentation. Every bit has to work... to sound... well NICE! I love pop music but that doesn’t mean that it can’t have its own special energy.” “Some tracks are very VERY quiet and intimate, but not in the folk vein, as I see the acoustic as an instrument that can bring about a raw, sparse approach to melody. And some tracks are lush, brimming with string arrangements, which is something I wish I could spend more time on. It’s an avenue I’ve always dug but haven’t had the means to pursue. With this format I feel like I’ve opened up a big box of goodies. Am I making sense? Ha, well.” “And all these songs have that hoo haa I was talking about” adds Peter, leaving to get a strong black coffee, making this a GREAT time to say his goodbyes for now. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18507 BLANK PAGES - Blind faith 7 Hardware 5,00 This 7” is a highly recommended!!! BLANK PAGES (ex-IDLE HANDS) deliver with “blind faith” their 2nd 7”. Once again you’ll get 2 tracls of driving, melodic punk-rock for fans of IDLE HANDS, SEDATIVES or THE OBSERVERS. Limited edition of 500 copies! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18592 BRANDY ROW - Same 7 No Front Teeth 5,50 Debut release from Brandy Row. This is his solo acoustic project and a departure from his usual punk rock sound that can be heard in the Gaggers, Blowouts, Hateful, Needle Automatix etc but still very punk in attitude. Think a mix of Johnny Thunders and Billy Bragg. He is joined by members of the Gaggers and Ten-O-Sevens as guest musicians and these 2 well-crafted songs will leave you wanting more for sure. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18515 BRISTLES - Bigger than punk CD Heptown 14,50 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18636 BRISTLES - Bigger than punk LP Heptown 14,50 UPCOMING!! This album title’s follows the Dead Prez’, but concerning punk; the music is only a soundtrack to the revolutionary struggle. The album contains 11 tracks like “A Womans Work is Never Done” that deals with male chauvinism, “Holidays in Thailand” about western sex- and drugs tourism, and “the American Dream”, one of the biggest lies ever. The album also contains a dub song, Spirit Way, about drug abuse. An abuse the members of the band have put behind them. The release is a cooperation between Switchlight Records, Turist i Tillvaron, Noise of Sweden and Heptown Records, and will be out both on cd and vinyl. The album is produced by Tommy Tift (Sista Sekunden & Vanna Inget)! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18637 CHIMIKS - Modern storm LP Frantic City 13,20 When the Fatals broke-up, Vince Posadzki, ex-Viperes, Aqua Nebula Oscillator, Bop Pop Killers and many others, originally from Quebec, moved to Paris where he started the Chimiks along with Louie Louie (Happy Burger) on bass and Ronnie Rollo (originally from La Rochelle, he played in a local cult Punk Rock band called Weak!!) on drums. It took them little time to record and put out a first 7” single limited to 250 copies on Élégances Records and then Slovenly put out their first 8-track eponymous mini-LP. This one was recorded at home, was super trash and fuzzy and sounded a lot like the “Free Cocaine” Dwarves: dirty, straight-in-your-face type of shit! Now the new LP, “Modern Strom”, has been recorded in Toulouse, France, with Lo’Spider and Mike Mariconda (who playd in the Raunch Hands, Devil Dogs... and recorded a number of records for Crypt including the New Bomb Turks’ first LPs!) who came up from Spain to help Mister Spider capture the wild and savage sounds of the Chimiks. Of course their collaboration was explosive and the sound on this record is fantastic! 10 new tracks that still reek of the good old bloody Dwarves but also bring to mind uncompromising bands such as the Dirtys, Reatards and Motards. Most certainly the best sound-track to the end of the world that’s actually coming in a few months now they say!! This one is co-produced with Barbarella Club Records, new record label in la Rochelle...! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18593 COMBOMATIX - Same LP Frantic City 13,20 Back in 2010, Combomatix, the trashy Garage duo from Rennes, Bretagne, chose Frantic City to release their first 7”. Now two years later they’re still on Frantic City and they’re back with their first album after a split 7” with Brussels’ own White Fangs which came out in 2011. Ten new tracks recorded in Toulouse with Lo’Spider, great improvement that’s for sure, a bit less trash and a bit more crunch! They did a great job with the guitars and this is by far the best thing they produced to this day. Their early recordings most certainly brought to mind bands such as the Oblivians or Gories, now these new tracks drenched in reverb got more of an Oh-Sees feeling. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18594 CRUSADES - Parables 7 Destructure 6,30 Parables is the new offering by Ottawa Crusades. After their highly acclaimed first full lenght The Sun Is Down And The Night Is Riding In , this two songs 7? takes the band to a new step. For those who are still not familiar with the music of the quartet, Crusades has a strong punk rock base but draws his inspiration from various hardcore/punk subgenres. The band develops their own musical universe with great song-writing, great sense of melody and multiple vocals. These two tracks combine a large dose of energy and catchiness to a certain kind of melancholy and darkness. Like in their previous releases, the band’s lyrics challenge religions with a personnal approach. Destructure is taking care of the european pressing of this little beauty. Take note that this release is a warm-up for a european tour planned this fall and for a new full lenght to be probably released next winter. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18595 DATSUNS - Death rattle boogie CD Hellsquad 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18539 DATSUNS - Death rattle boogie DoLP Hellsquad 22,90 Death Rattle Boogie is the sound of one of the world’s premiere rock ‘n’ roll bands, rediscovering the ferocious energy that first drove them to pick up their instruments with new interpretations of their influences and instincts coupled with a new found sophistication that comes at no cost to their trademark adrenalized immediacy. The Datsuns are ready to show the world that Death Rattle Boogie offers inarguable proof that they are more alive now than they’ve ever been. Hitting hard with opener, ‘Gods Are Bored’ to the from the frenetic ‘Death of Me’, The Datsuns prove they’ve no plans to quit rocking the world to its core anytime soon. High energy rock and roll, that takes its cues from Detroit rock action of the likes of MC5/Stooges, the Scandinavian high times of The Hellacopters, and some classic Knack / Raspberries power pop...all with the Datsuns’ inimitable and infectious enthusiasm stamped over the end product! LP is limited to 1000 copies w/wide and comes with a DL postcard. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18540 DE HOJE HAELE - Same 7 Burka For Everybody 5,90 Back In Stock, Last Copies!!!3 new songs by this great Denmark punk band! These lads from Bremen guzzled a whole era. They interpret early 80s NDW with contemporary references, a good pinch of humour and a punk attitude. With Peter Behrens (ex Trio) and Martin Semmelrogge as gueststars. Sounds just like 1982, when everything was alright and ‚‘No Future‘‘ still gave you hope. Enough has been said, listen for yourself! By the way: Fans of Herpes and Trend should definitely give them a try. That‘ll do! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18568 GUADALUPE PLATA - Same LP Folc Records 14,00 One of the revelation of Spanish indie/rock music in recent years, with their lo-fi blues and folk, they’re one of the most internationally acclaimed bands on the Spanish scene. They have toured the USA twice, and in the autumn will be touring France supporting The Greenhornes (the band of Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of The Raconteurs). Following a successful 10’ released a couple of years earlier which led to them being invited to play even in the most remote corners of Spain, and at festivals such as Primavera Sound, Blues Cazorla, Monkey Week, among many others, and even play two consecutive years at SXSW in Austin, Texas, now we see the release of the first LP. Crazy about the most primitive blues, they sound like a chemical experiment mixing the singing of a rusty well wheel of Hound Dog Taylor, the darkness of Skip James, the hypnotic rhythm of John Lee Hooker and RL Burnside, the madness of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, the sweetness of Tampa Red, the killer slide of Elmore James, and the essence of Son House. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18492 GUN CLUB - Divinity LP Bang 18,50 Finally reissued on vinyl and properly remastered for the occasion, “divinity” from THE GUN CLUB features and compiles an extended version of the original double EP released in 1991. This record, almost impossible to find nowadays, features the classic line up of THE GUN CLUB including Jeffrey Lee Pierce and Kid Congo Powers (after his time at THE CRAMPS and at NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS). During this period of his career, Jeffrey Lee Pierce advanced on the most complex and solid sounds of his music in an evolution of sound where his charismatic melodies were mixing wisely the swamp blues of the Mississippi Delta with the guitar majesty of Jimi Hendrix. The album includes lyrics in a deluxe gatefold jacket with inner sleeve. Definitely another classic by this long time missed atemporal band. Released under license from Creeping Ritual Productions. NOTE: Don’t miss the complete recordings of THE BUTCHER SHOP, previously released on BANG! Records, including Kid Congo Powers as well as Tex Perkins and Spencer P. Jones of THE BEASTS OF BOURBON. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18625 HEART ATTACK ALLEY - Living in hell CD Voodoo Rhythm 15,50 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18552 HEART ATTACK ALLEY - Living in hell LP+CD Voodoo Rhythm 15,50 140g Vinyl, 350g Cardboard CMYK Print and printed inersleeve, Incl. This goes back to his roots, with a sound that is both classic and primitive, like the great albums of 1950s and ‘60s rock’n’roll. It was recorded in New York with the production genius of Matt Verta-Ray (Heavy Trash, Speedball Baby) and mastering by Ivan Julian (Voivoids). There was also collaboration from Tami Lynn (Rolling Stones) on the backing vocals of some songs and Mickey Finn (Boss Hog) playing wurlitzer piano. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18491 IMPO & THE TENTS - Pop secret 7 Selfrelease 6,30 New self released 4 track 7” EP by Swedish powerpop trio Impo & the Tents. It was their fifth studio album in a career spanning 28 years and marked their full return to live performance after the death of founder member bassist Bill Marten. Originally formed in Manchester in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist Harry Stafford and bassist Bill Marten, the band released four albums and recorded four sessions for the BBC’s legendary John Peel Show before splitting in 1988. Reuniting in 2007, Stafford and Marten recruited Gold Blade drummer Rob Haynes, but work on the new album was halted by Marten’s sudden death in 2008. After a period of reflection, it was decided to complete the work that Marten had begun, with the band’s long-time friend Vince Hunt (A Witness) taking over on bass. This line-up has since played London, Warsaw, Milan, Los Angeles and the Drop Dead festival in Lithuania, earning a reputation for powerful live performances. Death Message Blues’ features twelve new tracks penned by Harry S. casting a net across fast and spiky r’n’b, swamp blues, bastard country and punk power. Lyrically, the songs observe usual Inca traits of wild characters, ghosts and murderous stories, with reflections too on the passing of Inca founding member, bassist Bill Marten. Recorded in Manchester with sonic relish by Tim Woodward at his Courtyard Studios, this Album not so much left off where the incas paused 20 years early but has launched them into the 21st century with a renewed vigour and lust for swamp rock and trashman’s blues. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18528 JAVIER ESCOVEDO - City lights CD Folc Records 10,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18494 JAVIER ESCOVEDO - City lights LP Folc Records 14,00 Former leader of The Zeros (a key band in the Los Angeles punk scene of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s) and The True Believers (formed in the ‘80s with his brother, the acclaimed Alejandro Escovedo, and considered one of the pioneering bands of alt-country, so in vogue today), presents ‘City Lights’, an album full of perfect songs, leaving behind the speed of his early songs but without losing any energy. You will find the best in power pop, with great melodies, and an awesome sound worthy of the great musicians who recorded it: Brian Young (Fountains Of Wayne/Posies) on drums, Joe Bass (Posies) on bass, and Josh Schwartz (Beachwood Sparks) on guitar. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18493 JELLO BIAFRA & GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - Shock-u-py 10 Alternative Tentacles 14,20 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18623 JELLO BIAFRA & GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - Shock-u-py CD Alternative Tentacles 13,20 Includes digital download coupon with bonus track! Their new EP SHOCK-U-PY! is the perfect soundtrack for the fall political melee. Biafra explains: “Here’s our tribute inspired by the Occupy movement. Not just ccupy’-SHOCK-U-PY!-since my favorite kind of resistance can have theater, pranks and other creative sabotage-non-violent, of course!” The SHOCK-U-PY! EP includes the exclusive track “Barackstar O’Bummer” not appearing on his upcoming album, plus Biafra’s remix of “We Occupy,” a DOA song for the uprising that Biafra guested on. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18624 JOHN THE CONQUEROR - Same CD Alive 15,50 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18535 JOHN THE CONQUEROR - Same LP Alive 16,50 John The Conqueror’s self-titled debut album is an amalgamation of the many sounds and styles (old and new) mined from both the North and the South. Cousins Pierre Moore (vocals & guitar) and Michael Gardner (drums) are natives of Jackson, MS, while bassist Ryan Lynn hails from Philly - where the trio now call home. Together they mix a bedrock of raw deep blues with funk, soul, punk and scuzzed-up rock-n-roll into one helluva potent musical Molotov cocktail. What makes John The Conqueror so refreshing, however, is their honest, simple, yet extremely passionate approach to their music. Moore and Gardner have been playing together in bands since their college days in Oxford, MS, and Moore learned to play guitar in his early teens from a homeless man who slept in the back room of an auto repair shop. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18536 KING TUFF - Screaming skull 7 Sub Pop 5,90 LA-via-Vermont garage/powerpop wunderkind KING TUFF presents two brand new, non-album tracks, hot on the heels of his critically-acclaimed self-titled LP. “Screaming Skull” is a club-ready, guitar-driven dance hit, and “Love Potion” is yet another glammed-up rock anthem from the King. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18457 LADY BANANA - Adult rock 7 Frantic City 5,50 Louder than the Oblivians and dirtier than Cheater Slicks, here comes Lady Banana, from Göteborg, Sweden! They’re two and they’re handsome of course, one of them was the master brain of the Tundra Fucks, another duo who turned into a trio and released some of the most atavistic Trash Garage songs out there on a few different 7” releases. Now he’s back with a new drummer and four new songs recorded in a laundry-room!! Real primitive drumming, super trash guitar licks and some weird hissing sounds from a tape-recorder, this is what you’ll get on Frantic City’s twentieth release, limited to 300 copies with very nice fluo-pink covers silk-screened by Lady Banana’s drummer himself! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18597 MAKE-UP - I want some DoLP MLadyS 27,50 Risen out of the ashes of Nation Of Ulysses, and combining garagerock with r&b/soul and funk, The Make-Up was one of the most exciting live bands of the late ‘90s and ‘00s. They also had a string of successful singles and album releases, recorded for a variety of underground labels. This is a double LP reissue of their singles compilation, originally released by K Records. Available on vinyl for the first time in ten years. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18534 METZ - Same CD Sub Pop 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18458 METZ - Same LP Sub Pop 16,50 Canada’s METZ are a return to everything that’s good about loud, ecstatic live music; a frantic nod to Nation of Ulysses, Shellac, The Pixies, The Jesus Lizard, and Public Image Ltd. at their most vicious, while carving out some heavy new business. METZ have been around for over three years, sharing stages with Mission of Burma, Mudhoney, Oneida and NoMeansNo. METZ was produced by Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) and Alexandre Bonenfant. With this, their debut album, METZ articulate with deafening clarity what we’ve known for some time: The world of good music needs a new power trio, and this is it. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18459 MIDWEST BEAT - Apology accepted 7 Certified PR 5,00 “Sweethearts of the Milwaukee Rodeo, The Midwest Beat rides again with two more saddlebags full of smashy twang-pop, ‘Apology Accepted’ b/w ‘Appaloosa.’ Sidestepping the perils inherent in being a gaggle of Upper Midwestern plaid-shirt-wearers with an ear cocked towards the Americana side of the spectrum ((i.e., sidestepping BoDean-esque limpness at all costs)), the Midwest Beat manage to fuse the disparate elements of punk, twang, power pop and Bakersfield-esque country-rock into a cohesive attack that evokes the spirit of smart Brit chaps like Graham Parker as often as it does Graham Nash or Gram Parsons. ‘Apology Accepted’ is a Loud Pop classic and wouldn’tve sounded out of place on a Bomp! Records 45 from three decades ago ((or, for that matter, a Trashmen Play Hollies album from a late 60’s musical hallucination come to life)); ‘Appaloosa’ gallops more to the country end of things and has lyrics about women and a mountainside and that sorta thing. Save yourself the apology; buy the damn thing.” - Rev. Norb Rozek http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18545 MIDWEST BEAT - Singles 2005/2011 LP Wild Honey 11,20 A delightful album, full of memorable hooks that recall cool and classic ‘60s garage pop bounce (think Zombies), updated with the swagger and urgency of ‘70s power pop (think Paul Collins Beat). 17 tracks of all those hard to get 7” Singles!! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18544 NOW IN 3D - The knife the law 7 No Front Teeth 5,50 South Carolina’s Now in 3D fashion a wildly vibrant punk rock mixed with fuzzy new wave/no-wave/electronic touches in the same vein as The Spits., Screamers, Nervous Patters etc This is a band that lists their interests as: Punk rock, pizza, video games, skateboarding, cassette tapes and feedback... any disagreements? Didn’t think so... This is the band’s debut 7” that they self-released at the beginning of the year and now we are proud to bring you the No Front Teeth European version!! From the opening moments of The Knife is the Law, you will know what Now in 3D have in store for you, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. There is a vast difference between maintaining a distinct style and popping out more of the same, and this band certainly does not partake in the latter. If you’ve been longing for some really invigorating fuzzed-out, punk-ingrained rock of this nature for some time then this EP is the perfect cure. For anyone who digs loud, fast, direct rock n’ roll that actually has an edge to it, get The Knife is the Law now. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18512 PANIC BEATS - Strike again! LP Night Fighter 15,70 Part 2 of the trilogy!!! The final LP part “Without Warning” comes out at P.Trash right now!!! Michigan’s finest one man horror infused pop punk act THE PANIC BEATS, which (in the studio at least) is made up of one man - Dale VanThomme - is back, following up their full length debut with a new full length studio albums “Strike Again”. While VanThomme hasn’t reinvented his sound for either one of these albums, those who heard the first record probably won’t complain. The music is fast, the guitars are up front and loud, and the riffs are catchy as Hell. The influences that made the first album so much fun - The RAMONES, The LILLINGTONS, The QUEERS, TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET and their ilk - are the same influences you’re going to hear again this time around as well, and that’s something we can all be thankful for. Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy proved you don’t need more than three chords to make a great album, and there are those, such as THE PANIC BEATS, who learned from the best in that regard. “Strike Again”, is not surprisingly more of the same - but again, fans of the darker side of pop punk won’t mind. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18517 PAUL COLLINS BEAT - Live 1979 LP Lady Kinky Karrott 12,90 Lady Kinky is beyond honored to present to you an amazing live show from 1979 by The Beat, feat. Paul Collins of The Nerves and The Breakaways, Mike Ruiz (drummer for Milk n Cookies), Steven Huff and Larry Whitman. Classic powerpop songs, played to perfection by The Beat at an exciting period in their career, when they were first starting! The show was played at the Palladium on December 13, 1979. One side only! 500 Handnumbered copies. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18510 POOR CHOICES / MASCARA NITES - Split 7 No Front Teeth 5,50 This is the debut outing from MASCARA NITES, an epic 8-member Canadian punk rock n roll supergroup comprised of current members of Durban Poison, The Poor Choices, Electric Empress & others. Reminiscent of 60s-70s garage groups and late ‘70’s punk rock - this is just a small taste of what’s to come on their upcoming LP. Flip the record over and you get the first chance to hear THE POOR CHOICES on vinyl!! Ever wonder what a bunch of chicks that could kick your ass sound like? Throw this on and get bloodied. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18514 PULSEBEATS - Same CD Folc Records 10,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18490 PULSEBEATS - Same LP Folc Records 12,70 Made of 3 great passionate fans of the best rock&roll in every sense of the word and with great experience in different bands, both in England and Spain (Vipers, White Radars,). They play 70’s British punk rock and the most energetic power pop, clearly influenced by American garage music, with great pop tunes, danceable and filled with catchy melodies. If you dig the Buzzcocks, Plimsouls, Graham Coxon, Supergrass or Paul Collins Beat, give them a chance and you’ll discover a great band. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18489 RICKY C QUARTET - Small species 7 No Front Teeth 5,50 Debut 7’ from hot London rock n’ roll infused punk rock band featuring members of The Blowouts, Johnny Throttle and the Ten-O-Sevens. The Ricky C Quartet incorporate various influences ranging from Radio Birdman to Slaughter and the Dogs with a dose of Rip Off style garage shot in for good measure. You’ll dig the result for sure. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18516 RIOTS (NO) - Same LP Subversive 14,50 LIMITED TO 250 HAND NUMBERED COPIES PRESSED ON COOL GREEN AND BLACK SPLATTERED WAX! Self released, debut LP here by this great new band from Oslo, Norway. Move over TURBONEGRO plus MODERN ACTION-77touch, because there’s some new blood in the water. Obviously swimming in the same riff infected cesspool as their Norwegian contemporaries, these dudes have a rough, rockin edge. But instead of channeling glammy metallic, Rock like their Turbo contemporaries; Riots channel more classic pub rockin’ punk bands like Slaughter And The Dogs, Cock Sparrer and Menace to create an albums worth of tunes that just stick. Really can’t reccomend this one enough. This thing is fuckin great!! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18520 SCIENTISTS - Rubber never sleeps DoLP Bang 28,90 30 years. This is what it has taken for this record to see the light as an official release and on deluxe double vinyl format. Originally released in the early 80s in Australia only as a bootleg cassette, “Rubber never sleeps” has now been properly mastered, sounding remarkably improved and reviewed by The Scientists. This deluxe edition is accompanied with texts by Kim Salmon (Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon, Kim Salmon & The Surrealists ...), James Baker (Scientists, Victims, Hoodoo Gurus, Beasts Of Bourbon, Dubrovniks ...), Rod Radjal (Scientists, Les Hoodoo Gurus, The Johnnys ...), Tony Thewlis (Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon, Interestellar Villains, Scoundrelles ...) and Boris Sujdovic (Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon, Dubrovniks ...), all narrating memories, anecdotes, opinions and ideas of that time. This recording compiles the long lost early “loft tapes” recorded in Perth in the late 70s as well as the beginning of their diabolic 80s swamp noise sound in Sydney. These recordings feature very rare tracks by this seminal combo such as covers of the Modern Lovers, Alan Vega, Troggs, Chuck Berry and Alex Chilton, as well as their long time classics such as “frantic romantic” or “swampland”, among others. A must have for all Scientists fans. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18626 SENSIBLES - Debut 7 Selfrelease 5,90 Hailing from Milan, Italy, THE SENSIBLES will bust down your door with a sweeping power-pop punch. The selftitled EP was released by the band itself in just a short run of 300 copies. On their debut single, the SENSIBLES serve up some gut-busting power-pop with a punky, propulsive edge. Recommended if you like The EXPLODING HEARTS, The MUFFS, The UNLOVABLES... The four songs included offer us some clean sounding production, which helps greatly intensify the weight of the shredded guitars that drive each track. These guitars sit heavily amongst the powerful wall of pop joy that flows from each track, spearheaded by lead singer Stella who totally stands out in “Denny.” She howls with authority over the dense mix of scratchy guitars and pummeling percussion, leading us through an electrifying solo that brings the song to new heights. Following that, “Dino” wraps up the single with its playful vibes and totally reinforces the SENSIBLES obvious love for dinosaurs, not to mention, another dirty sounding guitar solo that keeps the blood pumping. Listen to these two cuts below from the 7”. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18588 SINGING LOINS - ...Here on earth CD Damaged Goods 13,20 It’s the 12th album they’ve released in a career dating back to the late 1980’s, the SINGING LOINS began having a laugh 20 years ago with two utterly live, mono, vinyl only LP releases on Billy Childish’s gorgeously luddite record label, Hangman. Ever enduring outsiders, it’s likely they are now the world’s longest serving, truly amateur, original musical group. Their very creative strength is derived from ordinary lives of day jobs, families and mortgages. Perversely un-ambitious, they remain untainted, uncorrupted, and above all else, still doing it for the reason they started doing it - Love. This album marks a change in the bands sound, nothing too drastic but it’s a bigger, ballsier sound, probably due to the addition of John Forrester on double bass plus a few others at the recording and the ever great, Jim Riley at Ranscome in Rochester.my dear!. The cover is a painting by long term friend of the band, Billy Childish, taken from his latest show at Chatham Dockyard. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18640 SOUL GESTAPO - Just one day CD Folc Records 10,90 On the fourth record of Spain’s most powerful trio you’ll find great songs, moments that are pure rock, with ‘70s highenergy, power-pop, mixed with surprises such as sounds that are reminiscent of Crazy Horse, country-americana songs, or semi-acoustic tunes. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18504 SUBSONICS - In the black spot CD Slovenly 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18662 SUBSONICS - In the black spot LP Slovenly 14,90 At long last, SUBSONICS have descended again upon the denizens of the steamy rock’n’roll jungle with their first album in seven years, “In the Black Spot” (Slovenly Recordings 702-112)! The Subsonics have been called the “Best band in Atlanta” by fellow Georgians BLACK LIPS and for good reason: previous works by this beatnik, noirpunk careen machine have left indelible marks, or black spots if you will, on the psyche of big-bam-boom-shanga-lang rockers the world over during their nearly two-decade tenure. This new album brings more of singer Clay Reed’s petulant, masculine-feminine vocals and surreal lyricism, shaken up with his signature garroted guitar, Buffi Aguero’s inventive, incessantly churning drumming, and Rob Delbueno’s (Man, or Astroman?) rolling basement bass. On this latest spin, previously unwritten, yet eerily familiar, melodies (“Lime-Lime” and “Miracle Worker”) echo in the catacombs of America’s soul and ring throughout with a childish enthusiasm, like a funky delinquent’s budget bubblegum album. What we really have here is an obsessive, detached drop-in to an after-hours opium den, where Super-8 movies are projected onto a soiled sheet, and the soundtrack is undeniably Subsonics. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18661 SUJDOVIC, BORIS - Desperate girl LP Bang 18,50 This is the shit, mate! Boris Sujdovic did it again! Here you have a brutal sonic attack and then your ears blow due to an O.D. of fuzz and distortion where Scientists, Suicide, Stooges, Velvet Underground and early Jesus & Mary Chain mix and burn. Boris Sujdovic is not exactly a newy. His background and present at Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon and Dubrovniks put him at his place. But here he does what he wants, wild and free. Side A of this LP is only guitar, while side B is only bass. All of it sublime, melting amps and speakers. Too much. NOTE: Don’t miss the previous release “fuzz machine” on CD and vinyl EP where the sonic O.D. started. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18627 Supercobra - Garre, yeah yeah! CD Kamikaze Records 13,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18609 Supercobra - Garre, yeah yeah! Risen from the putrid corpses of the disdained Moorat Fingers and Shakin’ Nasties, the SWORN LIARS with their pounding primeval rhythm section and their aggressive psychoactive Pyramid-In-The Eye guitars accompanied by the perverse gibberish of a disturbed raving certified lunatic spritzed with the finest of Hammer Horror organ sensibilities are still joy-riding ye olde unholy black train. 14 autistic, orgasmically-charged, ritualistic and extremly tasty/nasty/catchy Tracks recorded in Babylon with Rock Legend Christoph Rath and mastered by none other than Garage Crypt-keeper Tim Warren create the monster that ,14 Grim Fairy Tales For Hip Kids And Malevolent Midgets”is. The band is led by Daniel Stewart (STRAIGHTJACKET NATION, UV RACE) and Mikey Young (EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING, OOGA BOOGAS), and this single comes on the heels of their excellent, massively-hyped “Henge Beat” LP and split-LP with THEE OH-SEES. This record was first re-released by Hyped To Death and next by Rave Up. It has been long sold out so we consider it is great to do a new pressing of this classicpunk record. Before pathetic nerds ask to much money for it. Can’t writte to much about this record and not get stupid and impassioned. If you like the good Flesheaters, Pagans , first Gun Club ... you will enjoy this record because it has the same quality and good vibes that the”Fire of Love” (p.e). Having already made an excellent early impression with taster single ‘Businessman’s Guide To Witchcraft’, earning them a Guardian New Band Of The Day & Q Track Of The Day in the process, this 10 track debut long player sees Carter Sharp (vocals), Bim Williams (horns), Fil Ward (guitars/vocals), James Macphee (drums) and Jamie Bird (pianos/ vocals) take up the rhythm & blues blueprint and filter it through a 40+ year historical path that encompasses everything from Motown & Stax to The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Spiritualized & The Mary Chain. It’s a sonic blast of an album, and a welcome breath of fresh air. Prior to the album being recorded at PJ Harvey’s Bristol studio, Waves Of Fury spent several weeks touring the southern states of America. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18599 WHITE LUNG - Magazines 7 Deranged 6,50 After a short hiatus while Mish (singer) spent part of 2007 in Europe, Vancouver’s WHITE LUNG return with their most triumphant second 7” featuring 3 new tracks which pick up where their first 7” left off. I’m really hard-pressed to even describe what WHITE PAGES have going on... the songs are short, snappy, and snotty, and they barrel along at near-HC tempos, but the music is super catchy, but not in a garage rock kind of way. If WHITE PAGES remind me of anything, it’s bands like MIDNITE SNAXXX or THE SPLITS who graft a girl group-inspired simple and direct catchiness over propulsive punk with a DIY sensibility. Short, snotty, and scrappy punk from an utterly unique band... http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18590 WHITE WIRES - WWIII LP Dirtnap 16,30 Here it is, the 3rd album from Ottawa Ontario’s WHITE WIRES, and it’s their best one yet! We’re not just saying that, either! Confident, heart-felt, refreshingly irony-free pop that’s just about the catchiest thing you’ve ever heard. This is a rock solid album that really hits a stride as it goes along. One thing we’ve always admired about this band is how each of their albums are very distinct from one another, but are unmistakably, undeniably The White Wires. The first record was the “garage” album, the 2nd was the “punk” album, this one is the pop masterpiece. Get ready. A series of bad decisions, poor planning, and altered states of mind led Yes Mistress to record this gem of a debut 7’ that sounds like a crack head falling into a pile of trashcans. Hooray! ‘Gunna Get Arrested’ is reckless, trashy, and free: an anthem for everyone who gets up every morning and drives their car with no license, is drunk all the time, etc. Knees on the ground, interlace your fingers with your hands behind your head... you know the drill! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18513 4) Sixties / Soul / Rockabilly 21ST CENTURY SOUND MOVEMENT - Same CD Gearfab 13,50 Finally, after years of searching, we have finally discovered a copy of this mega-rare garage LP from an unknown group from Missouri. The niece of legendary blues singer Memphis Minnie, Baker was blessed with a powerful, soul-tinged voice that she put to use as since his teens under the stage name ‘Miss Sharecropper’ and made her achieve a signing with Atlantic in 1953. Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990, Lavern was one of the most successful R&B artists of her era. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18473 BETTY O BRIEN / KITTY FORD - She’ll be gone / blue diamond 7 Popcorn 8,20 Two complimenting female vocal sides twinned here. On one side you have Betty O’ Brien’s ‘She’ll Be Gone’ a drama-laden piece of early soul laden with strings and big production values. On the back, Kitty Ford’s moody ‘Blue Diamond Ring’ revolves around a similar low-slung guitar riff and once again there are strings and backing vocals a plenty. While the vocals and accents contrast, both sides are pure popcorn from the highest shelf! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18554 BOBBY PARIS - Night owl 7 Outta Sight 8,50 IT’S TAKEN 35 YEARS, BUT IT’S WORTH THE WAIT! Welcome to the second set of 45s in our exclusive CameoParkway re-issue series. It was some 35 years ago, that Decca’s London subsidiary released Yvonne Baker, Bobby Paris and Bunny Sigler, and now, finally, Outta Sight is proud to make them available again. First in line is Yvonne Baker’s cherished classic “You Didn’t Say A Word”. With its haunting James Bond riff it is fitting that this special reissue coincides with Bond’s 50th Anniversary. The B-side sees the first ever reissue of Hattie Winston’s rarity “Picture Don’t Lie”. Our second 45 features the oiginal coupling of Northern Soul’s signature song “Night Owl” by Bobby Paris. Last but not least, Bunny Sigler’s floor-packer “Girl Don’t Make Me Wait” coupled with the vastly underrated “Follow Your Heart”. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18522 BUNNY SIGLER - Girl don’t make me wait 7 Outta Sight 8,50 IT’S TAKEN 35 YEARS, BUT IT’S WORTH THE WAIT! We’ve now returned to the great Miss Howard for another two amazing sides of Latin edged Rhythm & Blues, both recorded for the Specialty label and previously available on 78rpm only. Such is the quality of both tracks, this is really a double A release as we couldn’t really decide which we preferred between the playful, rhumboogie of ‘Fiesta In Old Mexico’ and the deeper, exotic jazz sound of ‘Within This Heart Of Mine’. Either way, rest assured both tracks are smoking hot killers, with slinky Latin style percussion giving way to rolling boogie woogie piano and Camille Howard’s superior sultry vocals all combining to great effect. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18553 CHARLES SHEFFIELD - I got fever 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20 Well known for the evergreen R&B club classic ‘It’s Your Voodoo Working’, here’s a less well known number from the Lake Charles, Louisiana born Charles ‘Mad Dog’ Sheffield that’s every bit as ripe for the dancefloor. A tasty midtempo mover with a shuffling bayou rumba, the reason this is not so well known could just be that it originally went unissued by the Goldband label Sheffield recorded it for, first appearing in rather low-fidelity form on an 80s comp. Now restored to its original audio beauty from the original masters and pressed here using the late 50s Goldband label artwork with permission, ‘I Got Fever’ has finally landed the 45rpm release it deserves and hopefully the dancefloor exposure will follow quickly! On the flip side, you get Sheffield’s twanging swamp blues cut ‘Isabella’, another unissued gem from the Goldband studio! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18438 CLARENCE GARLOW - New bon ton roulay 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20 Two all-time classic, seminal Rumba-laden R&B sides backed together for the first time. Texan born guitarist and vocalist Clarence Garlow first cut ‘Bon Ton Roula’ in 1950 for local label Macy’s. A unique piece of music laced with Cajun slang (‘Bon Ton Roula’ translates to ‘Good Times Roll’, as in ‘Let The...’) and set to a heavily played, clattering Rumba drum track. The song became a regional hit and perhaps Garlow’s signature piece. Originally a 78 only release, this appears on 45 for the first time. Such was the song’s popularity that he returned to it a number of times with his own answer records. We thus feature ‘New Bon Ton Roulay’ on the A-side, a jazzier, less frenetic version, originally cut in 1953 for the Aladdin label in LA, and sounding just as cool and hep all these years later... http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18611 DARTS - Square town 7 Rockabilly Repro 7,50 Label: B n S! A lesser known side for the legendary Little Esther but she is at her slinkiest with her feline vocals drawling out an atmospheric bluesy rendition over an insistent horn and rolling drum riff, while David Hill’s version is a little more energetic as it moves along on a catchy rock and roll backing. Whichever you prefer, both sides are heavy-hitting R&B sides making this another sure-fire twin-spin win from the Popcorn stable! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18439 DEL SHANNON - Runaway LP Rumble 14,50 Compiled mostly to take advantage of the title track single’s number one chart position, Del Shannon’s debut album came out as one of the few great Rock And Roll albums to be released in America in 1961. Runaway, a forlorn tale of lost love, its rippling piano accompaniment driven by guitar, saxophone and bass rhythm section, guaranteed him a place in the annals of rock’n’roll. While his vocal style, which veered from silky smooth to a wicked rasp before taking off into a soaring falsetto, became his trump card, Runaway also features a surreal, unearthly electronic keyboard solo that gave this single a unique flavour. But there’s way more here to appreciate: the opening track “Misery,” a catchy Doc Pomus/Mort Shuman number that shows off Shannon in the same pained, romantic mode as “Runaway,” “Jody”, “Day Dreams” and “(Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame” (made world famous just a few month’s later by the almighty Elvis Presley!) are just a few of the numerous cuts included in an album that played a sole part in the transition from rock and roll to 60’s pop music. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18474 EXCITEMENTS - Keep to yourself 7 Penniman 6,00 New single by the hardest working group ofthe label. You can opt for either of two bluesy croon cats - on the top side we’ve picked Frank Heppinstall’s version simply because of the sudden and unexpected blaring organ, screaming vox middle sections which give this darkly tinged little ditty an extra injection of energy. But flip it over and you can hear Lonnie Sattin’s more restrained approach - slinky, congaladen and quietly building up from a slow smoulder to a blazing finale. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18556 FRANKLIN BROTHERS - Mr Policeman 7 Rockabilly Repro 7,50 Hot Hick Florida Rockabilly /Country Bop 2 sider. DAVIS - The splib pt.1&2 7 TT Shakin 8,20 A bona fide classic and true essential in the sleazy instro field - a rolling, bumping and grinding ride back to the downtown R&B clubs of the late 50s, early 60s, from James Brown’s one-time bandleader James C. Davis. ‘The Splib’ was presumably yet another new dance which no doubt summarily failed to sweep the nation. Tantalisingly, the vocals provide only the vaguest physical direction with a couple of references to shaking and shimmying and little else - leaving us to only try and guess at what the actual moves were. Perhaps that’s just as well: by the down and dirty sound of the song itself, it’s possible ‘The Splib’ dance came with an X-rating! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18612 JEAN-PIERRE MIROUZE - Le mariage collectif o.s.t CD Born Bad 14,90 http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18570 JEAN-PIERRE MIROUZE - Le mariage collectif o.s.t LP Born Bad 14,90 In our modern world, everything ends up - or will end up - in the garbage dump or in a museum. Occasionally, objects make it to the museum by way of the dump. The record you are holding is one of those objects. Johnny, who wore an eye patch and calf length cowboy boots on stage to enhance his pirate image, was offered a contract by HMV in 1959 to record their first single, “Please Don’t Touch”, a song that 22 years later revisited the UK charts by heavy metal heroes Motorhead & Girlschool. Unfortunately, like many other labels of that era, EMI was never sure how best to deal with rock & roll success and though the group was among the finest rock combos of the early ‘60s, with a wild stage act that had them playing in pirate regalia, it never had enough consistent chart success to put it back in the top ranks of Britain’s rock hierarchy, though they received a great deal of respect from the younger generation of rock & rollers. This LP collects all their early singles between 1959-1961, including all of Johnny Kidd’s unforgettable hits. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18475 KEMPY & THE GUARDIANS - Love for a price 7 US-SixPunk-Repro 6,90 Label: Romunda/Lucky Sounds! With his ultra-sweet vocals and lyrics that speak of romance and topical politics, Mighty Sparrow (born Slinger Francisco) is an 11-time winner of the calypso monarchy and an eight-time winner of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival Road March competition. Winning the Carnival competition in 1956 with “Jean and Dinah,” he received a grand prize of 40 dollars. In protest, he wrote a scorching indictment of the Trinidadian music industry, “Carnival Boycott.” Despite his refusal to compete in the Carnival contests for the next three years, Sparrow became one of the Caribbean’s most successful artists, emerging as a relevant and representative voice of his time and society. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18476 NIGHTBIRDS - Same LP Groovie Records 15,50 The Nightbirds were a combo from Swiss that recorded the first single in March1966 to the italian EMI, “ La Strada Bianca “ writed by Mario Del Don that goes directly to the swiss Hit Parade to the 8th position. In that period the band begguins an intense activity. They turn to professional status, touring in Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany and recorded 3 more singles at EMI the played in sveral important Clubs in Swiss and Italy like Blow Up, Pony and Volkshaus in Zurich. The repertoire goes from Beatles, Yardbirds, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Pretty Things, The Who ,Spencer Davies. They always used on stage the famous “Vox a.c.30” and “Vox a.c.50 “Vox guitars and Ludwig drums. With the famous kind of Bat logo of the band in the kick drum front. For the first time reissued in LP all the tracks from the 45rpm recorded by the band in 1960’s, Quelli or Alla Resa Dei Conti are some of the best tunes made by an italian/swiss band in the 60’s. Freakbeat fuzz garage at is best!!! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18566 NINA SIMONE - Come on back, jack 7 Popcorn 8,20 Two absolutely killer R&B sides from the high priestess of Soul, Nina Simone. ‘Come On Back, Jack’ is Nina’s answer to Ray Charles smash ‘Hit The Road Jack’, using a similar riff to the original version and packing just as much dancefloor impact. ‘Work Song’, perhaps the quintessential jazzy mod number was recorded by dozens, scores, perhaps hundreds of other singers, but few injected it with as much heart and sass as Ms. Simone. The version here was previously available on LP only. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18613 NORRIS MIMS - Sweet sweet baby 7 Rockabilly Repro 7,50 Label: Arlington! The main man Chuck Rio leads his band The Originals on the A-side, a quintessentially Rio-esque number complete with Latin percussive elements, a goofy but catchy riff (let’s face it, yet another interpolation of his ‘Tequila’), and vocal / sound effect break-ins, in this case a stunningly effective use of a whip crack and a voice exclaiming simply ‘WOW!’ On the other side, the Frantics whip is a decidedly raunchier affair, with dirty guitars and filthy sax coupled with almost continuous and indeed increasingly frenzied whip cracking throughout! I can only presume that the Frantics, a much smaller and less known outfit than Chuck Rio’s boys, were patrons of rather less salubrious watering holes! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18557 OUTCASTS - I’m in pittsburgh and it’s raining 7 US-SixPunk-Repro 6,90 Label: Askel! What’s more, pitch it down and you also have a classic Belgian popcorn spin! On the flip side, The Sheiks themselves give us their somewhat skewed interpretation of the East with the playful ‘Baghdad Rock’, a silly but charming jaunt perfect to accompany the most exotic of dance shows, and a novelty record for the true connoisseur! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18436 SAXIE RUSSELL - Psychedelic soul pt.1+3 7 Outta Sight 8,50 Saxie Russell’s Chicago dance track, the eerie “Psychedelic Soul”, has haunted the Northern Soul scene since it was first played at the legendary Catacombs Club in Wolverhampton in the early seventies, not long after it was recorded. Saxie’s real name is Vernon Taplin, a co-writer of the track along with John ‘Stormy’ Colley. Our ‘exclusive’ flip side features, for the first time, an unusual out-take that surfaced a few years ago on a studio acetate from Colley’s personal collection. Sonically, not the best recording, but historically fascinating and a unique opportunity to hear Saxie and the session players letting their hair down! http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18525 SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON - Polly put your kettle on 7 Jukebox Jam 8,20 Born 1914, Sonny Boy Williamson I was one of the pioneering first wave of bluesmen to achieve a level of success and national notoriety as a recorded artist. In his all too brief life and career, Williamson popularized harmonica blues and after landing in Chicago in 1934 became one of the key movers and influences on the cities now infamous blues scene. Both sides here were cut in 1947 and showcase an evolving sound which was to be tragically cut short when Williamson died a year later at the desperately young age of 34. Williamson’s influence and popularity always remained as blues and R&B performers through the 50s and 60s continued to reference and cover his work. ‘Polly Put Your Kettle On’ was in turn rediscovered and became something of a club favourite on the roots music scenes of the 80s and has long since continued to light up the floor as the quintessential early ‘Blues Bopper’. The fact that it was issued in ‘48 on 78rpm only has meant that this classic has never had a proper DJ friendly 45rpm issue - and the same goes for the hep shuffler ‘Mellow Chick Swing’ ... LP Rumble 14,50 140 gram vinyl. Equals parts straight rockabilly, hilarious late 50’s camp, honky tonk, and country music, 1960’s Wanda Jackson’s “Rockin’ With Wanda”, originally released on Capitol, helped her establish the title of “the Queen Of Rockabilly”. Wanda’s massive influence on defining the exact nature of early rock and roll music went far beyond her genre and her “heyday” of The ‘50s & ‘60s. For pure energy and rebelliousness, it compares favorably with the best of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. On stage, Wanda wore tight silk dresses, red lipstick, and high heels. She wanted to add glamour and sex appeal to her image, and, man, did she ever. The female equivalent of Presley’s leather suits and pelvic thrusting, she was the first woman to bring sex appeal to the rock and roll stage. In fact, she was so sexy, she wasn’t allowed on stage at the Grand Ol’ Opry until she covered her shoulders. If ever Elvis had a female counterpart, it’d be Wanda (she briefly dated Presley in 1955, so there you go). “Fujiyama Mama”, “Mean, Mean Man”, “Don’a Wan’a” are just a few of the classic tunes contained in this remastered, virgin vinyl reissue of Wanda’s absolute masterpiece. http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18564 WANDA JACKSON - There’s a party goin’ on LP Rumble 14,50 140 gram vinyl. The first female singer of the early rock and roll era, Wanda was encouraged to try rock and roll by Elvis Presley himself. It was 1955 when Wanda met him during the “Ozark Jubilee,” a country tour through the south. She didn’t think she had the voice for it, but he disagreed. He even recommended some songs for her. At first she was reluctant, but she signed a recording contract with Capitol and decided to give it a try. During the next few years, Wanda produced numerous examples of raw, prototypical rock & roll. The most distinctive aspect was her voice. She developed a wild, growling sound that at times sounds possessed or strangely alien, capable of going from sweet innocence to hellcat at the push of a button. Originally released in 1959 during the ‘Queen of Rockabilly’s’ prime at Capitol Records, “There’s A Party Goin’ On” features a solid collection of songs in tune with the title track as well as covers of a handful of early rock hits such as “Tweedlee Dee” and “Kansas City.” The set is highlighted by the staggering guitar playing of Roy Clark as exemplified on the the standout cut “Hard Headed Woman.” http://soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=18565 YVONNE BAKER / HATTIE WINSTON - You didn’t say a word 7 Outta Sight 8,50 IT’S TAKEN 35 YEARS, BUT IT’S WORTH THE WAIT!
