It intuitively increases productivity and seamlessly enables more efficient multi-tasking. This powerful utility ships with all 9X Media X-Top Professional Series Multi-Screen systems. Following is a brief overview. Download and information is available on the CD guide. Increases number of screens beyond Windows 10 screen limitation: Windows has a limit of 10 screens from one computer. With the 9X utility users can run over 60 screens from one PC. Window management – Easier and more intuitive With a click of the ‘Move widow’ button you can instantly move windows and applications between monitors. Click of the ‘Maximize’ to instantly spread your windows across all screens. Mirroring / Presentation Mode Mirror the primary monitor on one or more secondary monitors, for example when doing a presentation. Includes support for different resolutions on each screen. Mirroring is only available on Windows 2000 and XP. Smart Taskbar – Manage a variety of open applications more easily 9X Media Multi-Screen Manager adds an additional taskbar at the bottom of each monitor. Taskbars only show the tasks that will appear on that monitor when activating. With just a glimpse you know on which monitor your application will appear even before you activate it. Application memory positioning: Choose where on which screen you want your applications to launch. Use the 9X Media Multi-Screen Manager tabs added to a shortcut's properties to set an application's position or use custom display settings when the application is running. Display profiles: Display profiles enable you to quickly change the settings of one or more monitors. You can also create a display profile that gets applied when logging in, especially useful when the computer is used by more than one person. Wallpaper: The 9X Media Multi-Screen Manager wallpaper manager adds the ability to use a different picture on each monitor, or stretch a single picture across the desktop. Screen savers: Most screen savers only run on the primary monitor. 9X Media Multi-Screen Manager can blank the secondary monitors when the screen saver is running, or run additional screen savers on secondary monitors. 8 www.9xmedia.com 408-399-2299 9X Media Inc. Setting Up Your Computer While each video card and operating system handles set up of the video card a little differently, ultimately you should have at least one screen box for each monitor that would look something like this. If you have 2 Quad head video cards you should have 8 boxes. If the number of boxes does not equal the number of outputs of your video cards check to make sure that all the video cards are being recognized by the operating system. This can be done by going to System, hardware manager, Display adapters. You should see all your adapters and there should not yellow warning signs. If there are yellow warning signs the adapter with the yellow warning sign will need to be reinstalled or otherwise corrected. Activating Screens In the Operating System Note that in the picture below the #2 box is not activated and looks different from the #1 box. If you have boxes that are not activated as in the diagram below, do the following Move your mouse curser so that it is over the box you want to activate. Right click while over the box to be activated. A menu will come up with an option to ATTACH or Activate Normal click on the ATTACH or ACTIVATE button Click on apply Repeat this until you have activated enough boxes to run your system. For example if you have two quad head cards you should have 8 boxes. If you only have 6 screens two of the boxes should not be activated. Once the box is activated it should look like this. 9 www.9xmedia.com 408-399-2299 9X Media Inc. Once you have the appropriate number of boxes activated you can exit from the control panel. CONNECTING THE SCREENS TO YOUR COMPUTER. Turn your computer off. The operating system and the video card will always designate one screen as the primary screen. This is the screen that displays the BIOS screen during the boot process and shows the START button of the operating system. Make sure that there is a screen connected to the #1 screen connection at the computer. This can be determined in a couple of ways. Most BIOS programs will set the AGP slot as the primary video connection so make sure that the AGP video card has screens connected to it. Most video card manufacturers will label the connection on the card at the point where the monitor cable plugs in. In cases where the video card has a Y cable each end of the Y cable will be labeled 1/3 and 2/4. Make sure you have a screen connected to the 1/3. CONNECTING THE SCREENS TO THE POWER SUPPLY Disconnect the power from the wall Once you have connected the screens to the video cards it is time to connect your screens to power. If you have the 9X Slimline screens you will have a single power supply with a series of 12 Volt DC power connections. If so, starting at the power plug of the farthest to the left plug each screen into the power supply. The power connections are not screen specific and it does not matter which screen is connected to which plug of the power supply. It only matters that you start with the plug farthest to the left. Not all power connections are come activated. We strongly urge you to use a power surge protected power strip to protect your screens from a power surge. Plug in each screen. At this point The computer should be turned off All screens should be connected to a video connector All screens should be connected to power but not plugged into the wall. 10 www.9xmedia.com 408-399-2299 9X Media Inc. Connecting to power Plug the 9X Media power supply into the wall or connect your analog screens to power If you have 9X Media Slimline screens each screen should display the 9X Media splash page Check the connections on any screen that does not display a splash page Turn on your computer During the boot process the #1 screen should display the BIOS boot page and then should show windows booting up. If you do not see the this during boot up check to make sure you have a monitor connected to the #1 connector at the computer. ----------- end computer set-up ----------------- 11 www.9xmedia.com 408-399-2299 9X Media Inc.
