Ya Viene La Primavera...(Spring is coming!)
March 2014
Dear Parents,
The past few weeks we’ve
been working on several
concepts, spiraling and
reviewing each week!
We’ve had a fun month of
March! Dr. Seuss had us
rhyming up a
storm! Rimas in
Spanish are a
wonderful way
to continue
adding words to
the students vocabulary! We
also had some green fun and
made green playdough
following a recipe and
measuring....reading the story
of San Patricio and finding out
some very interesting facts
about him.
Story elements
that we are working on with
our literature is Author,
Illustrator, Sequence of events,
Setting, Conflict, Resolution....
We also focused on the
multicultural celebration of
Mardi Gras and learned a little
about Fat Tuesday around the
world!
The month of April will be devoted to working with our literature story Me Llamo Maria Isabel, but we will
also spend time on the Spring poem La Primavera as well as revisit those fun concepts in the classic
children’s story by Eric Carle...La Oruga Muy Hambrienta and make a connection to the main character in
the literature story.
Me Llamo Maria Isabel by
Alma Flor Ada
Me llamo Maria Isabel is a
story of a young Puerto Rican girl
who enters a new school and tells
the story that all children can
relate too...fitting in.
This will be our literature
book for the next few weeks.
Along with reading and working
on oral and written
comprehension we will also focus
on telling our stories via collages
and writing.
**SPECIAL
PROJECT WITH
DAVINCI HIGH
SCHOOL!
Stay tuned! The
Cabrillo Students
will be working
with Mrs. Sy’s
Spanish 3 class.
Her students
will be writing
Spanish books
for our class!
