Are you suffering from unexplained
brain fog, anxiety and depression,
headaches, stomach ache, rash or inability to lose weight? “Aren’t we all?”
Your symptoms may be due to food

Recognition of food sensitivity was first
recorded by Hippocrates, who observed
that milk could cause stomach upset
and hives. Today’s Standard American
Diet includes pre-processed foods with
additives and even genetic manipulation. These foreign molecules are recognized by the body as invaders and
produce an immune modulated assault
to protect the body. This inflammatory
response may be the source of a multitude of symptoms including those mentioned above.
Some foods cause an “allergic response” known as an IgE immune response. These would be the classic
hives, flushing, swelling and eczema.
Others cause a “delayed response”
known as an IgG immune response.
These symptoms may occur hours to
days after exposure and can include
anxiety/depression, joint pain, and a
metabolic shift that leads to weight
gain. It is believed that both types of responses may play a part in childhood
ADHD and learning disabilities.
Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Disease
are both genetic conditions that result
from an over-active immune response
combined with impaired gut digestion
and permeability. The foods that cause
these symptoms commonly include
dairy, wheat (gluten), soy, and nuts. If
you take all these out of your diet and
always eat organic it might make a big
difference in how you feel. However,
doing so is a major undertaking! The
good news is that we can evaluate you
for food allergies and sensitivities with
a simple blood test. Armed with this information you can more specifically
avoid the foods that are known to
bother you and start working on improving your digestion and function of
your gut lining.

Ever wonder why you keep making the

ways to get the job done or better ways to
respond to others.
If you don’t take the time to be introspective and evaluate your ‘mis-steps’, all you’ll
be left with are those embarrassing moments, wishing you had made different
choices.
How can you be more introspective?
Journaling is a great way to evaluate your
thoughts and explore other possibilities.
Calm your mind with meditation, speak to
a therapist if you want guidance. Get away
- take a vacation, all by yourself!
History teaches us that without taking the
time to learn from past experiences, we
are bound to fall into the same predicaments over and over.

Spring time is high Allergy
season in Arizona!
Are you suffering from itchy watery eyes,
sneezing, itchy throat and sinus congestion? Is your skin irritated with rashes or
eczema. Do you get run down and tired
every Spring and Fall? You probably have
allergies!
One helpful tip to avoid the pollens and irritants in the environment is to do regular
nasal and sinus rinses with normal saline.
You can use a nasal spray bottle or a netty
pot. By rinsing in the morning, after being
outdoors and before bed you will be rinsing away the irritants you breathe in, preventing them from reaching the respiratory
tree and causing you grief.
Another tip is to increase the amount of
water your drink. The better hydrated you
are the better your body will be able to
tackle the irritants quickly, thus decreasing
your symptoms.
The use of probiotics can help balance your
immune system and decrease your intolerance to the environment. Acupuncture can
also be a great tool to improve your symptoms and prevent the allergic response.
Lastly, consider building up your tolerance
to the allergen itself by use of sublingual
allergy drops. Drops can be compounded
for your specific allergy profile. With 2-3
drops under your tongue every day you
can significantly diminish your daily allergy
symptoms and live a sniffle-free life!
