Srinee Bajaj ’11 – Business Development Associate Srinee graduated from Chapelle in 2011 and attended Loyola University New Orleans, where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Finance from the College of Business. She was a Cardoner Leadership Scholar and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Srinee is currently a Business Development Associate on a Corporate Executive Board in Washington, D.C. When asked about her special memories from Chapelle, Srinee regards Taco Tuesday as one of her favorites. She remarks, “I definitely injured myself once or twice running to that line, but I don’t regret it for anything!” “Success doesn’t mean money or power to me, it means helping others and making an impact. Chapelle helped me define that. It instilled a set of core values in me that I was able to carry over to Loyola and now to the professional world. I’m not Catholic; however, Catholic values are deeply rooted in me and these values are something I look back on whenever I’m faced with adversity.” -Srinee Bajaj ’11 Kelly Brignac ’08 – Harvard Ph.D. Candidate Kelly graduated from Chapelle in 2008, Magna Cum Laude. She graduated from Millsaps College in 2012 with a B.A. in History, Summa Cum Laude with Honors, and received a full scholarship for all four years at Millsaps. Kelly then graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2015 with an M.A. in History with a 3.9 GPA. She is currently at Harvard studying for her Ph.D. in History, with a focus on the history of the French Empire. She speaks French and Spanish, and is learning Wolof, one of the indigenous languages of Senegal in West Africa. Kelly says, “Chapelle taught me to be a kind, generous, and caring person. The volunteer work I did taught me how to empathize with people different from myself. This helps me be a better historian; I am able to understand people who lived long ago. Chapelle also taught me the value of hard work and not giving up—even when I thought I would never do well in algebra!” 4 Winter 2016 THE PROVIDER Alumnae Success “One of my favorite memories is definitely the end of Mass on the first day of eighth grade. The band played ‘We are Family,’ and that’s the moment I knew that I would be at home at Chapelle.” -Kelly Brignac ’08 Sarah Fedele ’96 – Advisory Principal After graduating from Chapelle, Sarah attended LSU and graduated in 2000 with a degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences and a concentration in Internal Audit. She has been with Deloitte & Touche LLP for the past 15 years in both the Houston and New York offices and had the honor of being admitted to her firm’s partnership in August 2013. She also has a regional leadership role supporting the Women’s Initiative, and serves as the Lead University Principal responsible for her firm’s relationship with LSU. “Chapelle gave me the foundation I needed to be a natural leader amongst leaders. Building confidence in myself, working closely with others, and developing lasting and trusting relationships were strengths that I developed during my time at Chapelle. I will forever be loyal to green and white.” -Sarah Fedele ’96 Dr. Catherine Fitzmorris ’73 – Ophthalmologist Dr. Fitzmorris is a widely known and respected Ophthalmologist in the Metairie area. Michelle is a Board Certified Pediatrician, and is currently undergoing subspecialty training in neonatology at LSUHSC-NO. Michelle remembers her favorite memories at Chapelle as “playing in the state softball championship game and hitting a homerun, sitting outside and eating lunch with my best friends, giving tours and recruiting new students at Open House as an Ambassador, and showing my chipmunk spunk while plastered in green face paint at spirit rallies.” 5 Winter 2016 THE PROVIDER Emerald Gala Archbishop Chapelle High School’s Emerald Gala this past year set a new record, raising $125,000! The evening included a Patron Party for our top benefactors with music by the Rummel-Chapelle Jazz Band, followed by the Emerald Gala with dinner and music by the band Witness. Guests enjoyed raffles, live and silent auctions, and socializing with friends. You can register for the 2016 Emerald Gala online at www.501auctions.com/chapelle. Please consider purchasing a table with your classmates and friends to help benefit our school. All of the proceeds from this year’s Emerald Gala will fund Chapelle’s much needed $1.2 million new air conditioning system in the main building. Campus Renovation with a State-of-the-Art STEM Center Archbishop Chapelle’s campus-wide renovation project this past year was a crucial step in the rebranding and refurbishment of our school. Starting in summer 2015, we invested in new ceilings, floors, carpeting, paint, doors, bathrooms, and artwork to provide the most competitive learning environment for our students. The most exciting aspect of Chapelle’s renovation project is a new state-of-the-art STEM Center that will be complete this May. The center will include several fully functional labs with new equipment and additional classroom space to accommodate more students. This project will enable our science and technology teachers to teach more rigorous material and challenge our students to achieve new heights. We live in an age where science, technology, and engineering fields are becoming increasingly competitive and producing lucrative career opportunities. Our school currently offers Computer Science Principals, Probability & Statistics, Robotics, Robotics Engineering, and Web Design courses. As we look to the future, Chapelle’s STEM initiative strives to adequately prepare our students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields in both high school and college so that they have the foundation and drive to succeed in their future careers. 8 Winter 2016 THE PROVIDER Open House 2015 Archbishop Chapelle High School had the most successful Open House ever this past November. Prospective students and their families heard from the talented RummelChapelle Band and enjoyed performances by the Chapellettes, Cheerleaders, and HiSteppers in the upgraded gymnasium before hearing from members of our administration and touring the beautifully renovated campus. We heard such positive feedback from prospective students and parents about the quality of our students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae. Thank you to all who volunteered their time and energy to making this night an incredible success. Archbishop Chapelle’s enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year has overreached our expectations! Thank you again for your continued support of our school and for your loyalty to green and white. 9 Winter 2016 THE PROVIDER CLASS OF 2015 Scholarship List KATHRYN ELIZABETH BANCROFT Choir Award, Over 80% of our students graduate with TOPS, and this past year the Class of 2015 was awarded over $8 million in college scholarships. Great teachers are the foundation of a great school, and we are lucky to have a phenomenal teaching staff here at Chapelle. This fall, Chapelle students had the opportunity to ask successful alumnae and local professionals about pursuing various college majors and careers. Alumna Lauren Belsome Gould ’04, an X-ray Technician at EJGH, spoke to students in Ms. Doody’s Biology II class during their skeletal system unit. Anatomy and Physiology students were also fortunate to speak with Dr. Kendall Hales about the physical therapy field. Dr. Hales is a Physical Therapist at Crane Rehab in New Orleans who earned her M.S. in Physical Therapy from LSU and her clinical Ph.D. from Texas Tech. 15 Winter 2016 THE PROVIDER This has been an exciting school year for Chapelle Athletics. We are pleased to announce the completion of an incredible renovation to our gymnasium. As we walk these halls, let us remember our faculty, our sisters who came before us, and those who will come after. We pray for patience in our actions, kindness in our words, and selflessness in our hearts. May we live out our mission as we continue to grow in unity, making Chapelle not only a school, but also our home. Amen. Our Lady of Prompt Succor… Hasten to help us.
