2014 Yearbook Theme Chosen
The creation of the 2014 yearbook is well underway.
The theme the staff chose is “Beyond These Walls”.
The cover design was completed in early October.
The book is mainly created on the Herff Jones website so it is easy for any student with internet access to
be a part of the staff. Editors were recently chosen by
advisor, Ms. Scicc. Sumer Messerschmidt is Layout
Editor, Carisa Byrne is Copy Editor, and Kelsey Macieunas is Photo Editor. The book is divided into sections and each section has an editor. The Student Life
Section Editors are Jade Wuttke and Cait O’Donnell,
Sports Section Editors are Marcella Scheeler and Jessie Lindenmuth, Clubs Section Editor is Jen Jackowiak,
Academics Section Editors are Macey Brown and Jess
Koller. People Section Editor is Macey Brown and
Steph Krupilis is Senior Section Editor.
Creating a yearbook is a huge job.
Students in grades 9-12 who are
interested in getting involved in
the process can still do so. Just

Just What is Mix It Up
at Lunch Day?
A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance a decade
ago, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries.
In our surveys, students have identified the cafeteria as the place
where divisions are most clearly drawn. So on one day – October
29 this school year – we ask students to move out of their comfort
zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act
with profound implications. Studies have shown that interactions
across group lines can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away.

How a Big becomes a Big—and a Little, a Little.
Before we make a match, we do our homework.
After someone expresses an interest in becoming

who need us most, including those living in single

with parental incarceration.
What are a Big and Little to do?
Each match is unique. Getting together doesn’t
